  1. Terrific execution again by the Sox. Since Iguchi hasn't done s*** in the 2 hole the last few weeks, why not move him down in the lineup?
  2. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Aug 21, 2005 -> 04:24 PM) Thats the way I look at it Kid. Look at the Podsednik situation. If the Tribe was 3 back of us right now, Pods would not be on the DL, not a chance. The Sox should be rewarded with the way they played the 1st half, and they have been by getting a chance to rest guys (Podsednik, Gooch, AJ) more than normal because of that. I agree with your view. The only problem is that it's not like we're just resting Pods for a few games. By putting him on the DL, there was nothing we could do to bring him back. I guarantee this: we never thought we'd slump this bad and have the Indians and the Twins make such a charge so soon.
  3. If Crede continues to tank like he has for the rest of this season, he won't be back.
  4. QUOTE(maggsmaggs @ Aug 21, 2005 -> 02:52 AM) It's obvious that the Sox as a team has gotten complacent and they don't care anymore. When I see in the post-game comments that the team is strong and giving 100%, I just want to barf because I know what I am watching is not a team giving 100% or even 75%. Their at-bats the last 2 weeks looks like an 11 year old little league team. I agree, but what else do you think they're going to say?
  5. QUOTE(whitesoxjr27 @ Aug 21, 2005 -> 02:51 AM) bigger lead the better. Of course
  6. QUOTE(maggsmaggs @ Aug 21, 2005 -> 02:50 AM) So would I, but they have Ichiro, Sexson and Beltre and the rest is very mediocre. I also would take their line-up, but they are not that much better offensively than us. The fact that they had patience, made Guerrier throw pitches, just shows how lame our AA line-up is. Ibanez is better than Everett in the 3rd hole.
  7. QUOTE(knightni @ Aug 21, 2005 -> 02:40 AM) I think the bad luck happened when people started putting the magic #s in their sigs/avatars. Or when they started rooting for divisional foes like the Indians and Twins because they either didn't want to have the A's in the playoffs, or they didn't want the Sox to have too big of a lead.
  8. QUOTE(maggsmaggs @ Aug 21, 2005 -> 02:42 AM) How does a s*** team like the Mariners get 6 runs off Guerrier and we can't do s***. Guerrier threw 23 pitches in 1/3 an inning while against us he pitched 39 pitches in 4 innings. Mariners have a very potent top of the order. Sexson is hitting the long ball now, and even Beltre has come along well lately. Also, putting Bloomquist in the 2 spot has been a very good move. I would take their lineup in a second over the Sox lineup.
  9. Well, I'm starting this thread to hopefully change our luck with these teams. The Indians are in control of their game, leading 6-1. However, the great Matt Guerrier is getting torched by the Mariners in extra innings, and they trail 8-2 in the 10th.
  10. Update: Indians lead 5-1 in the 5th inning, and Twins are tied at 2 in the 8th inning. Lead will likely be down to 8.5 after tonight.....SUPER!
  11. Indians are crushing the ball again tonight. 8.5, here we come!
  12. Reason for Pessimism: Indians just scored more runs in the first inning tonight than the Sox have scored in a long, long time. They're up 3-1 in the first, and the Twins are winning 2-0. The Twins are on the verge of making up 7 games in the standings in 7 games.
  13. QUOTE(rangercal @ Aug 21, 2005 -> 12:12 AM) All I know, is we won From April to July with our current team. When we were hot not many teams would have beat us. We were hot on numerous occasions this year. We can get hot In October. Who is to Say, Paulie, Dye and Arow can't heat up in the playoffs? Like I said. We were fine for 4 months with our current team. In the first half of the year, the Indians team was hitting like s***, and the Sox were getting a ton of clutch hits. Now, the White Sox are hitting like s***, and the Indians are tearing the cover off the ball with a plethora of recent clutch hits. The problem is that if that continues the rest of the season, the Indians have a very good chance of surpassing the White Sox.
  14. When I see an offense that has the opportunity to score runs maybe more than once every 5 innings, I'll get optimistic about our chances. We got 4 hit by Chacon, and we realistically have about 5 hard hit balls in the last 36 innings of baseball.
  15. Well, Cy Hernandez has given up 2 runs in the first inning to the Twins. Not only that, but Lew Ford is doing his best Torii Hunter impersonation in CF.
  16. The only positive in adding Boone was maybe he could provide our boys with some better "vitamins".
  17. If anything is among the worst in baseball, it's the left side of the infield.
  18. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Aug 20, 2005 -> 10:10 PM) The fact of near sellouts the rest of the way, *hopful* playoff sellouts, and the fact that Reinsdorf was quoted as saying Williams had no price range on players at the deadline. Also, a sure fact Frank is off the books, and 50/50 Paul is gone. Well, in order to bring back a lot of our core guys like Garland and AJP, we're going to have to give out some raises. I also don't think we're going to see a huge raise in payroll like others think. The two positions where we really needs guys are on the corners.
  19. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Aug 20, 2005 -> 10:03 PM) It has gotten to the point of me having tickets for tomorrows game, and im not going. I didnt think it would get like this for me, but there not worth watching right now. Go to the game and enjoy the fact you're watching the first place White Sox. Hell, it might be one of the last remaining home games where you can say that.
  20. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Aug 20, 2005 -> 10:07 PM) Disagree 100%. Wow, please explain how you feel that way. Did you not read the Tribune article the other day saying how we've spent almost all of our money on contracts for next year?
  21. QUOTE(JimH @ Aug 20, 2005 -> 10:04 PM) Wow, this is about the 10th time today where you've basically patted yourself on the back saying you called it. Well, if everyone is going to b**** at me when I'm wrong, I might as well tip the scale back to achieve equilibrium. The sad thing is that I wasn't try to say I was wrong. Rather, just how predictable things have become during our slump.
  22. Groin injuries with speed players isn't an equation for a healthy, productive return. Hopefully, Pods injury is about as serious as I think it is....which means not at all.
  23. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Aug 20, 2005 -> 09:57 PM) I wonder how much longer the losing will go on until Hawk will realize Ozzie really doesn't "have something up his sleeve". The only thing up Ozzie's sleeve is Timo's panties.
  24. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Aug 20, 2005 -> 09:53 PM) Really, what's he hitting. We need a middle of the line up bat. I was talking about in general. It's too bad we're not the Cubs and the Royals are the Pirates, or else they'd give us Sweeney for someone like Borchard and Honel. We need a number 3 hitter worse than we do a leadoff hitter.
  25. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Aug 20, 2005 -> 09:54 PM) I dunno, depends how you look at it. We are playing like the worst team in baseball this past week and we are still 9 up. The scary thing is one more week like this, and the lead will be like 4 or 5. What is disturbing is that we don't look close to breaking out of this, and the slump seemingly is getting worse. Thankfully, I have all the faith in the world that Ozzie and KW will recognize our problems, and do something to fix them.
