  1. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Aug 27, 2005 -> 03:44 AM) Neither one of those pitches were right down the middle. They were low and away. He could sit there and throw to that corner all night and they have no choice. He has to swing at that curve because it looks like a fastball going to paint the corner again, unless he is just guessing curveball and hoping and thats when you get K'ed looking like AJ. First one was right down the plate. Even DJ said that he had a great pitch to hit. If his stuff is that amazing, why did we even bother playing tonight? Just kidding jphat...he's an excellent looking pitcher. I just hate the approach that since a pitcher is great, we have no chance to win.
  2. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Aug 27, 2005 -> 03:42 AM) AJ had no chance to hit that last pitch. You ahve to take the chance that maybe it'll get called a ball because swinging at it will do no good. THis guy is incredible. Swinging at it gives you the chance to foul it off. The pitch was clearly a strike, so 95 pct of the time, you're going to get the called 3rd. The AJP AB was not nearly as bad as the PK AB.
  3. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Aug 27, 2005 -> 03:41 AM) Konerko took 2 fastball strikes, the first one right down broadway, then swings at a hook in the dirt. It was a clueless terrible AB. Bingo
  4. Very solid start by Duque tonight. It's a shame that Terrible-alba has scored those two runs. 93 pitches for Felix, so a patient inning could make this his last inning.
  5. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Aug 27, 2005 -> 03:37 AM) Dude. He was throwing 98 on the corners and dropping a sick curve. DO you know how baseball works? Have you played? Do you know how hard it is to hit a 97 mph fastball low and away right on the corner that will be called a strike? It's next to impossible. Dude...I guarantee you I've played as much baseball as just about anyone on here, and faced more 90 mph plus fastballs than anyone. My problem with PK's at bat was this: what was he looking for? I'm not upset that the guys aren't getting hits against him. Rather, just a lot of guys seem like once they get two strikes, they're just waiting to be aced. At least with Johan, we go down swinging.
  6. QUOTE(Sox Hustler @ Aug 27, 2005 -> 03:35 AM) Good pitcher or not, you don't leave 2 on with one out. Yeah, you have to step up and get a clutch hit against top pitchers. You're not going to have many chances at run scoring innings, and to have your 4-5 hitters with pathetic ABs like that really hurts.
  7. I know Hernandez has great stuff, but the approach by so many of these hitters are awful. He's been around the plate all night....why are they just sitting their with the bat on their shoulders?
  8. I get it: we're taking strikes, and swinging at balls? SWING THE F'N BAT!
  9. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Aug 27, 2005 -> 03:31 AM) Real chance here for Paulie. You're not going to see a worst AB than that one.
  10. QUOTE(WSoxMatt @ Aug 27, 2005 -> 03:18 AM) He did not play in Charlotte tonight, but Borchard did take Shingo deep for #27 Slow pitch against slow bat speed = homer
  11. 2nd homer in 132 ABs for Torrealba.
  12. How do you let that bum beat you?
  13. 74 pitches thru 5 for Felix.
  14. If he gets the outside corner like that, no one is going to touch him. Since he's around the plate so much, you just have to try and foul off those nasty pitches instead of sitting there hoping the ump bails you out.
  15. QUOTE(SoxFanForever @ Aug 27, 2005 -> 03:15 AM) Where is he going? U of I
  16. Uribe is now 2 for his last 25.
  17. QUOTE(ceffa2000 @ Aug 27, 2005 -> 03:13 AM) Thanks, sucks being without tv and Sportsline doesn't tell you things like that. I know. My brother is at school right now and doesn't get the game.
  18. QUOTE(ceffa2000 @ Aug 27, 2005 -> 03:09 AM) Mental mistake? By Duke? Anderson and Uribe basically looked at each other on a pop up, and the ball dropped between them.
  19. Good job pitching over it by Duque. Beltre's going to see more slider tonights than a stoner at White Castle.
  20. QUOTE(ceffa2000 @ Aug 27, 2005 -> 03:09 AM) Was there an error? No
  21. Two mental mistakes already tonight. Could be hard to overcome against Felix.
  22. Why is it that it seems that we keep facing terrific pitchers, while the Indians are facing the likes of Mark Hendrickson and Dustin McGowan? I guess that's just the way it goes....but it would sure be nice to get 15 hits every game like they do.
  23. QUOTE(Sox Hustler @ Aug 27, 2005 -> 02:58 AM) Yes he did. Damn, I thought he did. But then again, we've been screwed on those type of calls all year.
  24. Can we just use Everett against the Twins?
