QUOTE(CYGarland @ Aug 21, 2005 -> 08:29 PM) We definitely need more LH's in the lineup, because our splits vs. Rh's and LH's is pretty lopsided. Even Greg Walker said today that we suck hitting righty offspeed pitches.

QUOTE(CYGarland @ Aug 21, 2005 -> 08:22 PM) Anything to break this streak is fine by me. Plus alot of those hits were to the right side!! Win now, worry about other stuff later.

QUOTE(CYGarland @ Aug 21, 2005 -> 08:21 PM) He has not been the same pitcher this year. Plus he's a lefty, which we murder usually. I definitely agree that we're better against lefties. Rowand, in particular, is a totally different hitter vs lefties. However, it's not like J. Wright has been good this year. However, who gives a f***...lets just win the game. I'm happy we've got to Randy Johnson, but if you had to make me choose again, I'd take facing Wright over RJ 100 out of 100 times.

Yankees fans must really hate Cano. I think he's 1 for his last 30 with RISP.

Blum's range at 1b has been less than impressive. I doubt PK would have caught that ball though.

We should hit-and-run with Uribe every single time we can. I swear, it would make him concentrate so much more. Do your job Widger.

QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Aug 21, 2005 -> 07:51 PM) slump buster. someone needs to take one for the team. I nominate BA. It's a shame Pablo got that hit in the first inning, or else I'd really think we have a chance to get no-hit.

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Aug 21, 2005 -> 07:51 PM) Must not have been clear enough that I really don't care what you think about using the word 'retarted' to describe a ballplayer. IMO, it's wrong, and you haven't addressed it, instead looking at other things. Right or wrong, people use retard on message boards way too often when describing players. If you're looking for PC on a message board, then you're looking in the wrong place.

Just out of curiosity, but how many games do you think we'd have to lose in a row before Ozzie gets fired? 17, 20, 25, 100?

Well, at least Greg Walker feels like since we've won 74 games this year, we must be doing something right (and yes, that's what he said this morning).

Today is the day--8/21/05 Game Thread
Can someone please explain to me why we didn't have the infield in with Cano up? With our offense as s***ty as it's been, and facing Randy Johnson, that would have been the perfect time to use it. This stretch is the worst baseball I've seen by the White Sox in a long, long, long time.

I still can't believe some dumbasses on this board would have rather faced Randy Johnson than J. Wright.

Good to see Jermaine Dye following the game plan that Greg Walker had. Walker said they wanted all the hitters to be jumping on the first fastball they saw.

QUOTE(Greg Hibbard @ Aug 21, 2005 -> 07:26 PM) I don't think I like him blaming the manager for his own piss poor execution Me neither, but all year, he's been saying that he hates days off because he feels like it messes up his swing. I actually don't blame Ozzie for this. Iguchi might be hitting the wall.
-
Today is the day--8/21/05 Game Thread
BTW, on the pregrame today, Iguchi supposedly told Rooney that he felt like he lost his rhythm at the plate when Ozzie sat him on the bench for those two consecutive games.

Terrific execution again by the Sox. Since Iguchi hasn't done s*** in the 2 hole the last few weeks, why not move him down in the lineup?

ozzie what are you doing
QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Aug 21, 2005 -> 04:24 PM) Thats the way I look at it Kid. Look at the Podsednik situation. If the Tribe was 3 back of us right now, Pods would not be on the DL, not a chance. The Sox should be rewarded with the way they played the 1st half, and they have been by getting a chance to rest guys (Podsednik, Gooch, AJ) more than normal because of that. I agree with your view. The only problem is that it's not like we're just resting Pods for a few games. By putting him on the DL, there was nothing we could do to bring him back. I guarantee this: we never thought we'd slump this bad and have the Indians and the Twins make such a charge so soon.
