QUOTE(jphat007 @ Jun 30, 2005 -> 01:21 AM) Good thing we won last night. That is true, even though our offense has looked like absolute s*** lately. WAY, WAY too easy of outs. -

Seems like if any Sox pitcher ever goes more than an inning in a game, they automatically suck the next time they pitch. -

Politte faced these same hitters in last night's game. We're going to need a miracle to get out of this inning without allowing a run. -

I would love to see a Sox hitter take a nice, simple swing like Polanco just did. -

Polanco is doing something our hitters can't do at all: fight off tough pitches and foul them off. -

QUOTE(chi-guy2 @ Jun 30, 2005 -> 01:11 AM) i dont know about that and frank ks PK always had good ABs against Farnsy when he was on the Cubs. PK can turn around a great fastball a lot easier than Frank can. -

Come on Frank "Rob Deer" Thomas. It's becoming more obvious to me that Frank in the 3rd hole is a terrible idea with this team. It completely negates Pods ability to steal bases and get to 3rd with less than 2 outs. -

PK has a much better chance of hitting Farnsy than anyone else on our team. -

Anyone notice Frank just completely collapsing his backside on his swing? -

Possibly a game saving catch by Inge out there. I have a feeling we're going to need a solo homer to win this game. -

That run is on Pods and Ozzie. Not a chance in the world McCarthy should have been pitching this inning. For someone that tries so hard to get his pitchers the win, Ozzie really didn't play the percentages this inning. Did he not see McCarthy leaving everything up in the zone, resulting in numerous deep flyouts? -

QUOTE(jphat007 @ Jun 30, 2005 -> 12:53 AM) I dunnno. That's a tough play no matter what. Disagree with that. First, Pods is playing way too shallow in the outfield, especially when we have a one run lead late in the game (even Hawk pointed that out). Pods does an awful job at trying to run with the ball, instead of just running to a spot. Look at how easily Nook caught PK's long flyball earlier in this game. -

I'm sorry, but your rookie pitcher allows two straight flyouts to the wall in a one run game, you pull him before he faces someone that has already homered against him. However, another example of why just because your fast, it doesn't make you a good outfielder. -

Wow, Pods seems like he's playing incredibly close in CF. Saved us a leadoff hit, at least. Be careful with Pudge here. -

Ozzie should get someone warming up in the pen for this inning, in case McCarthy has trouble. -

I'll say this: Can the Sox please score some more runs so it's not such a nail-biter tonight? -

QUOTE(jphat007 @ Jun 30, 2005 -> 12:29 AM) Frank doesn't want base hits. Frank wants home runs. Exactly, and I don't think that approach will work well with the rest of this team, especially the way that Ozzie thinks he should manage. Basically, I dont want Iguchi giving himself up in order to get Pods to 2nd base. Might as well save the out, and see if Iguchi can get on base also. -

QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jun 30, 2005 -> 12:29 AM) Sometimes it seems like Iguchi doesn't even know whetere Pods is going or not. And I think it hurts him sometimes. I think we either have to put on the hit-and-run for Pods and Iguchi, or just not have Iguchi swing if Pods is going. You're right though, he really does seem to have some issues with that situation. -

I said this last night, and I'll ask again: Are we better without Frank in the lineup? He can't be swinging out of his ass in situations where a simply single into the outfield scores a run. Especially with the way Everett is hitting now, I'm of the opinion that are best lineup has Everett at DH. -

What's the highest McCarthy has been on the radar gun tonight? -

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jun 30, 2005 -> 12:10 AM) Something just clicked between Brandon and AJ right there and by that I mean AJ realized that Brandon has a changeup, he threw more that inning then all his other starts combined. I got a good feeling for the rest of this game with Brandon. I'm a firm believer that we're going to have to acquire a 5th starter before this season is over. However, if McCarthy is pitching at the MLB level, then of course I'm going to cheer him on. It's very obvious that location is the biggest issue which will dictate his success during a game. -

QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Jun 29, 2005 -> 11:59 PM) Who has better stuff, seriously? If you say Diaz you are on drugs. McCarthy has a better curve, but Diaz had a better changeup. However, McCarthy is younger and has a lot more room to add physical strength. One thing that is very noticeable tonight is how skinny his lower body is. -

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jun 29, 2005 -> 11:51 PM) Please don't compare Diaz to McCarthy. They're not even close, B-Mac just isn't ready yet. Says who? Weren't a lot of people saying that all Diaz needed was more seasoning last year? -

I don't know why KW continues to make the same mistake he did last year in regards to putting a pitcher on the mound, who if he has a good game, will give up about 5 runs. It really does seem that Felix Diaz is spanish for Brandon McCarthy.
