A's at White Sox 7/9 Gameday Thread
A's unable to go for the kill thankfully. As much as Willie sucked last night, we should have never been in the game. A's left a ton of players in scoring position last night.

A's at White Sox 7/9 Gameday Thread
A's have three players in their lefty lineup that just rock lefty pitching, but struggle against righties. Kielty, Byrnes, and Ginter are very good hitters against LHP. Those guys have killed Buehrle this season.

That's a routine double play with Crede at 3rd base. This game is one hit from being out of hand already.

I'd like Duque or McCarthy's chances against the A's more than I would Buehrle right now.....and that's why Ozuna is NOT a 3rd baseman.

QUOTE(PutItOnTheBoard @ Jul 9, 2005 -> 11:26 PM) this a's s*** is gettin rediculous We're intimidated by them for some reason. You can tell, it seems like just wait for bad things to happen when we play them. MB looks awful against the A's for the third time this season.

Buehrle = batting practice for the A's. He gives up an amazing amount of 2 strike hits to these guys for some reason.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jul 9, 2005 -> 11:22 PM) That ball didn't hit the plate? I could have swore I heard the usual "thud" of the ball hitting the plate and bouncing back. Doesn't matter, it's not a dead ball if it hits the plate.

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jul 9, 2005 -> 11:20 PM) By the way he took a hack at that curve, it appears that's exactly what he's doing. If a fastball hitter like PK is waiting for a curveball from Zito, who has a great hook, then he should be slapped in the face. That is not the right approach to take with Zito.

What a f***ing joke. It would be one thing if PK was hitting the ball hard, but he looks clueless at the plate.

First two Twins hitters walked tonight, followed by a HBP. They have bases loaded, no outs.

What is PK doing, waiting for the curve? He just took two good fastballs to hit.

Hawk was about a tenth of a second away from stating you could put it on the board.

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jul 9, 2005 -> 11:10 PM) Anyone else fear Crosby the most in this lineup?? Even moreso then Chavez. Crosby is swinging with so much confidence at the plate, and is using the entire field. I thought he was overrated last season, but this year, he looks like a stud.

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jul 9, 2005 -> 11:09 PM) It's tough, nothing you can do about it. No kidding, I was out in the LF stands for batting practice one game, and you couldn't see anything around 6 o'clock. It was comical seeing people have to dive away from the ball at the last second.

I remember Carlos having problems during these early 6 o'clock starts against the A's also that cost us a couple of runs.

QUOTE(redandwhite @ Jul 9, 2005 -> 10:32 PM) That is the stupidest thing I have ever heard in my entire life. I heard before last season started that the Red Sox were the team with the most amount of steroid abusers on them. This was from someone within the baseball world.

Harris thinks he should play everyday.
QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Jul 9, 2005 -> 03:36 AM) Timo does the little things to help you win. Clutch hits, a very good arm, and desceptivley fast. In all due respect, I've heard a lot of crazy things on message boards, but saying that Timo is deceptively fast might be the most false statement ever. If anything, Timo is deceptively slow. Yes, he's a short guy who doesn't hit homers. Thus, people think he should be fast. However, he's incredibly slow for his size, and has well below MLB average speed. Did you see how slow he looked trying to stretch his hit into a double today? Get the piano off your back! Timo also is so slow that he has to play extremely deep in the outfield, which leads to poor range.

GAME THREAD 7-8-2005 SOX vs A's
QUOTE(Ozzie Montana @ Jul 9, 2005 -> 03:16 AM) I hope Ozzie gives Pierzynski the day off tomarrow. If he doesn't, then I will not even watch the game. Especially considering Widger has hit Zito hard this season, AJP better not be playing. I don't understand why we had him and PK batting back-to-back tonight. Was Ozzie just trying to set the record for the slowest consecutive hitters in history?

QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Jul 9, 2005 -> 03:07 AM) I don't like to settle, but we don't play Oakland the rest of the season, lets get one win out of this weekend, and just be happy this A's team won't be in the playoffs. In a worst case scenario, if we get swept going into the ASB, and the Twins win their next 2 games, we'd be up 8 games going into the break. That's a very big lead, but by no means, would the race be over. It just seems like if we did get swept by the A's, we wouldn't have a ton of momentum heading into the ASB. We have a very tough 4 game series at Cleveland after the break, and we could very possibly see our lead down to 5 within a week if we don't play good that week.

GAME THREAD 7-8-2005 SOX vs A's
QUOTE(Ozzie Montana @ Jul 9, 2005 -> 03:09 AM) It wont get easier with Zito and Haren, it think today was our best bet with Sarrloos pitching. Zito always seems to dominate us and Haren is pitching really good right now. I absolutely agree with you. Makes the whole "sunday lineup" even more puzzling to me. For the life of me, I don't know why Ozzie let Willie bat in the 8th. He has to know that he had no confidence at the plate.

Harris thinks he should play everyday.
Harris is just not a good player. He sucks on the field, as is not exactly a good clubhouse guy. We'd be better off without him in the organization. Back-up 2nd baseman are easy to find. The Twins have like 5 of them who are easily better than Willie.

Almost 1/3 of the way to my nightmare scenario for this weekend. Hopefully, things go better tomorrow.

GAME THREAD 7-8-2005 SOX vs A's
We need a backup, lefty infielder that can actually hit tough, RHP pitching. Oh wait, that's right, we have Gload in the minors. Not a chance in hell Crede should have been batting against someone who is so tough against righty hitters. Crede and back problems are a recipe for some awful hitting.
