He's hurt and just got arrested for a DUI. Might as well try to sign Ricky Williams then, he played in the minors.
-
Spencer is on the DL
-
Shane Spencer was recently arrested for a DUI, and the Mets stated that he'd never play for them again. Too bad he isn't in the NBA, Portland would trade for him in a second. Actually, I've always liked Shane Spencer though.. He's a tough out.

Well, if this is true, the Sox better get someone out of the deal or the prospect bettter not be too good. They're not in a position like the Yankees have been in the past where they could do moves like this to prevent their competition from acquiring someone. Maybe the Sox could get Mackowiak out of this.

Very good post, but I disagree with you about the catching position. D. Miller and Melhuse are a very solid catching core for the A's, and are significantly better than the Sox. And when the Twins gt Mauer back this wknd, their catching position will go from below average to above average very quickly.

Finally, someone else that said what everyone is thinking, but doesn't want to sound like a bandwagon jumper: this current Sox team is HORIBBLE. How many times do people have to see this team make the same mistakes or continue to be easy outs until some realize that this talent level isn't what it used to be. Just compare our team last year at the end to this team right now. It's not even close.
-
Why is losing 3-2 to the Tgiers bulls***. Look realistically at the lineups and starting pitcher tonight. I would say the Sox are only better at 1b and LF. Their starting pitcher is way better than ours, and their catcher, SS, and DH our better than the Sox. The rest of the positions are relatively close.

What makes you think that the Sox even have enough players in their farm system to fill all the holes that this team has right now? Basically, to be a playoff team that could even compete with the Yanks, Twins, Red Sox, etc., the Sox would need possibly another starter, another reliever or 2, a catcher, and a RF. That seems like a difficult task to accomplish. Also, look at last year of an example of what happens when you acquire players with prospects, yet you don't make the playoffs. Frank Francisco would sure look good in our bullpen right now. Rather have a 98 mph than Jackson's 84 mph. All I'm asking is that KW doesn't overreact to this team slumping and think that he can fix them up with trades when there might be too many problems for this team to compete.

That was not a good move by Ozzie to put the hit and run on for a 2nd time. The first time was good cause it might have caught the Tigers by surprise. However, the Tigers were ready for it, which easily could have led to the pitcher throwing that ball outside, basically acting like a pitch out.
-
Gload was sent on a hit and run. It's not his fault Willie couldn't hit the ball. Blame Ozzie for that s*** if you want, not Gload. At least he was able to get a hit.
-
Ozzie, if we get someone on this inning, don't have them steal!!!
-
Sox record in games that Cotts has pitched in this year is approximately 6-25. I know most of that is not his fault, it's just an odd stat.

Believe me when I say that I hate those north side assholes more than anyone. I was just responding to someone's comment that people were sounding like Cubs fans when they complained about the Sox chances. It doesn't take a genius to realize that the Cubs have got their injured guys back, and we lost our two best players.
-
Does anyone else find this almost laughable?
-
Hey buddy, check out the wild card standings. They're only like 2 games out of it, and they have played the toughest schedule in mlb so far this year.
-
Kenny Williams has got to be very careful with what he does in the next few days leading up to the deadline. He was smart to do the Garcia and Everett trade because he thought that he would have at least one of the two offensive superstars back for the rest of the season. However, Frank and Maggs are very likely not coming back. Add to this that the Twins look to be making major additions to their roster by adding Benson and Morneau while losing an easy out in Doug M. KW has said in the past that he might do something stupid. Well, making a risky move when you have a great chance to make the playoffs is fine. However, our chances to make the playoffs seem to be hoping that the Twins scuffle cause of their tough schedule. That doesn't sound like a very confident belief in the team's ability.
-
Anyone that compares Sox fans complaining that their season is over to Cubs fan is mistaken for one thing: as much as I hate to say it, the Cubs have the talent to remain in the race, while the Sox are now the team with the crippling injuries and the poor talent level. Look at the two lineups tonight, and tell me which one you think is better?
-
Bash me if you want, but when is Ozzie going to take some of the blame for the players playing like absolute s***? There is no enthusiasm or fight on this team. I'm scared to think of the outrage that would have happened if this s*** took place last year when Manuel was in charge.
-
Jose Valentin needs to be benched! we're facing 2 lefties the next 2 games. I hope to hell that he's not playing.
-
Good baseball by the Sox there. SS has got to hold the Tigers down here. This is where the Sox pitchers have been struggling. We haven't had a lead in about 40 innings.
-
Why are the Sox keeping 3 catchers on the team? Sandy Alomar is having a terrible year, but Ozzie keeps playing him about 2 games a week. I know he brings a lot to the clubhouse. Why not just place him on the DL, and have him act as a coach. He's turned into a ground out to the left side machine. It's not like his catching abilities are so superior that it makes up for his below average hitting. The Sox could use that extra roster spot to call up another reliever, or to add another righty bat off the bench.
-
Great defensive play by Schoeneweis there. With Crede, Alomar, and Harris coming up, that was important to keep it a 1-run game.
-
Great job with the list. With some of the players being signed for big money in the future (Garcia, Buehrle, Lee), I really would like KW to hold on to the upper echelon prospects to help fill the roster. It's beginning to look like the loss of our top two players is going to have a huge impact on our team's success. The offensive punch has been diminished a huge amount the last month or so.
-
Anyday now, Greg Walker can talk to Jose about how awful his upper-cut swing is. He's not even giving himself much of a chance for anything but a fly ball. 9 games and counting since his last single.
-
Good job by Willie and Carlos that inning. Johnson is hanging a ton of curves. We're going to have to hope Scott S. keeps the Tigers to 3 or 4 runs.
