Pretty sad 5 pitch inning for the Sox that inning. Marte coming in?

Be nice to get some runs against Guerrier here. He's not exactly a good reliever, especially compared to the rest of their guys.

Great inning by Vizcaino there. Have a feeling that Marte will be put in for the 8th, with Hermanson being used as the safety closer if Shingo struggles.

QUOTE(DonkeyKongerko @ Apr 19, 2005 -> 02:17 AM) Suddenly I have a hard time writing out a lineup when Frank comes back. There's no way Everett can sit as hot as he is right now. I agree, but it's going to be quite a while until Frank's back in the lineup on a consistent basis. If Everett stays hot like this, then I'm ready to admit he needs to play in the outfield. Hopefully Dye will pick up his game.

That's it, he can play outfield every game if he wants!

Thankfully we got out of it, but I'm not happy with what I see from Vizcaino. He looks like he's fallen in love with his slider, and his fastball has lost about 5 mph from last season. It's going to be hard to fool batters if they're sitting on the slider.

If the Sox find a way to win this game, it will be purely amazing. Twins have had 15 baserunners in 6 innings.

This is the last I'll say about it: If you're going to bring Vizcaino in after one batter, he should have started the inning. Especially with the batter being a righty, I have no f'n clue why Ozzie let Cotts start the inning.

Why the f*** did Ozzie leave in Cotts to start this inning? Makes absolutely no sense to me.

Cotts should not be in the game now. He came in, did his job, and now there's a bunch of righties up. Politte or Vizcaino should be in.

QUOTE(aboz56 @ Apr 19, 2005 -> 01:47 AM) I think it was when he looked over to 3rd after he started his windup, but I'm not 100% sure. That hasn't been called a balk in all the many years I've been watching baseball. Especially in that situation, it's a horses*** call.

Great swing by Crede!!!!! If he can keep hitting the ball level, he's going to become a doubles machine with more power.

The question I have for people is this: Did anyone really think Contreras was going to get out J. Jones that at-bat? If you had big doubts, then you have to pull the starter for a lefty reliever in that situation.

QUOTE(RegionSox @ Apr 19, 2005 -> 01:41 AM) It's nobody's fault but Jose's that we are down even with the offense taking the night off Yes, but it was obvious after Hunter's AB that Contreras was physically and mentally out of the game. However, instead of bringing Cotts in to face the lefty Jones, Ozzie kept Jose in....and they got a very undeserved run because of it.

A.J. has played just as bad as Dye has the last week. He's been terrible behind the plate and offensively. Ah look, another game in which Ozzie is a batter too late in pulling the pitcher. Nothing new!

Ozzie should have never let Contreras face Jones this at-bat.

I'm not even biased in my view on umpires usually, but where was the f***ing balk there? It didn't look like there was anything wrong with what Contreras did. To call a balk in that situation is bulls***.

That's a terrible f***ing call in that situation. 3rdbase umpire shoving it up the Sox ass again today.

A balk? You have to be f***ing kidding me. I didn't see anything there.

QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Apr 19, 2005 -> 01:32 AM) Count pitching like Freddy huh? Booyah Actually, Contreras has had a solid fastball tonight. He just hasn't been able to control his forkball, and thus the Twins hitters are sitting on the heater. Garcia just had nothing yesterday on his pitches.

QUOTE(RegionSox @ Apr 19, 2005 -> 01:31 AM) What did Iguchi do? Wasn't it Uribe that missed the bag? You have to make sure you get one out in that situation. It was too close to risk it, in my opinion. Great pitch by Contreras there though!

Cotts should be warming up to face Jones. I don't like Cotts, but you have to use who you have in your bullpen. If you're not comfortable enough to bring someone in for a lefty in the 5th inning, he shouldn't be on your roster.

Iguchi's defense/decision making is killing us tonight.

Anyone else notice how much Dye is jumping at the pitch? He'll likely get the day off tomorrow with Timo facing Radke.

Iguchi is swinging the bat better after his terrible Friday and Saturday games.
