Let me set this up by saying I obsess over this kind of thing. Someone please confirm Brooks' email as I would love to put in my two cents. First trip was yesterday, grabbed a kosher dog and got ready for the big show. I knew wills was gone, and most likely "the ticking clock.....sox/tribe......NEXT" along with him. However, what came next is just a few minor tweaks away from being the best in the city. (*if you want to be suprised, stop reading now*) this was the lineup: Start with a very good classical-type piece that showed old photos next to retired numbers, the Old Roman himself, the 1901 "ticket invitation", pierce's baseball card, hall of fame guys, stuff like that. A classic shot of '83 fisk with his mask up if im not mistaken. you get the idea. very nice opening (if anyone knows this track, let me know, its pretty good) Then it breaks into the video clips, homers, highlights, roof shots, frank putting robin on his back, bo with fisk's retirement cycle, lots of celebrations, old and new, disco demolition night on two non consecutive clips (!)... All of this is to one outstanding track, the main theme from Pirates of the Caribbean:Curse of the Black Pearl. Anyone who's seen the bears lineups this past season will recognize it. Clearly I would not want to be an opposing fan/team for those two minutes in a packed USCF night game... Then things take a quick trip south coming out of that with Right Now by Van Halen. Let down. Some people were like "eh", but it could be much better. I like the intros, but I like the original with Thunderstruck way more, with the new intros it would just roll. Personally, baseball is a team game. If you MUST do lineups this way, I would suggest announcing the team by "units", 4 infielders, then 3 outfielders, then the battery. No offense to the old "Home Run of the Century" clips, but as far as Sox Pride goes, this really taps into in the history and tradition and captures the character of the club. P.S. I really think Gene Honda, or even Melton, taking over for Wills and putting the ticking clock stuff at the very beginning would set up everything perfectly. I will post the real name of the pirates track as soon as I get home.

Sox vs Tribe 4-7-2005 game thread.
ZeroHour replied to NUKE_CLEVELAND's topic in 2005 Season in Review
Pitch around Victor and the Tribe hasnt been that intimidating. I have as much faith in the Count as I have after watching Freddy just miss the strike zone yesterday. I see quality ahead after a few minor kinks for both. -

QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Apr 6, 2005 -> 01:58 PM) I wouldn't mind the Sox being on the Score.........as long as North is gone from there. North would become a Sox fan again if they went to WSCR. You just watch. That guy changes his team about every 3 months it seems. -
All of this is news to me. Im more glad he's gone now. I always liked Marte, but both him and Lee always struck me as quiet.
-
Looking forward to it...got to swing the afternoon off. I get to be half-a-slacker and see Freddy pitch in person. Can't wait to see how he'll start the year and how AJ will handle him.
-
I hope its like the 2003/4 Blackhawks stuff. You see some of those, it gets you jacked for the game and just plain ready to watch. All the old players...have to get some history in there, right? Tradition....keep it coming. Of course Bo's shot into the moat in '93 HAS to be in there...a few roof shots perhaps? Disco Demolition?
-
So wait. they changed the intros? Ill be there tommorrow but someone give me a heads up. I know it was opening day but im guessing wednesday will be the usual. Home Run of the century (although this is getting old) Player reel with "O Fortuna" Ticking clock/pre game/ "Sox vs the Tribe....NEXT"/Thunderstruck As long as Shingo has the Gong in the final version, Ill be fine. Last year's song was very techno, it should be more intimidating in a "Hong Kong/Kill Bill" style. More importantly,

QUOTE(Steff @ Mar 22, 2005 -> 04:12 PM) I don't see what you think you have to defend.... I'm just curious at to why you said... "It all makes sense now".. What makes sense..? i thought the "..." implied sarcasm. Yes, it is fuel to the fire of a stupid argument, but you have to admit on the surface it looks like an excuse to run an 81-win baseball team. thank you for debunking it. I know the last thing a sox fan wants to do is defend attendance. Its only the goto argument for the enemy and has nothing to do with baseball.
-
Well since noone knows me I guess I have to defend myself by saying I only love few things in this world more than the Whitesox. I had just never heard this rent business and was interested in seeing what the more knowledgable had to say about it. In retrospect, the topic should have been different. Im glad its mostly BS.
-
Well if its not entirely true then I guess I have no point. Just seeing what kind of reaction it would get. going back to reading more and posting less.

I dont know if this is old news, but I came across this link today while researching my fantasy draft. apparently, JR doesnt have to pay rent on the cell if we draw less than 1.5M. If this isnt striaght out of major league, I dont know what is. near the bottom: http://www.heartland.org/Article.cfm?artId=16343

Just start to feel the momentum shift... Plenty of time left, Radke is due for beatdown Time to ring the gong.

Agreed. I havent liked this Diamondbacks talk since Rogers brought it up the first time. The price would be too high and its a clear rent-a-player(s) situation. for you conspiracy theorists out there, want to start speculating that Rogers will keep talking about how much all of this will "make sense" so when it doesnt happen, so the average Sox fan will blame management for letting them down? As for Beltran, we can all hope, but his agent is Scott Boras. His price is definitely too high without a resign, and how probable would that be?

The hangup is clearly Sox-nomics in the back years. I really dont know why this is a sticking point with players, they still get paid and lets the team pay more for otehr players NOW rather than when Maggs is 36. You have to think the structure of Frank contract is whats letting us play with all these new toys now, dont you? Payroll has not increased significantly year to year since the old Belle/Navarro days, and guess what? those days SUCKED.
-
I think we should stop the Wilson nonsense right here. He strikes out way too much for my liking, it would be like having a Uribe/Valentin type who can play center. I would much rather have Rowand for all his faults and for the fact that we already have him. I would like to see us get Kendall or find some other savvy catcher move like a brian schnieder or even jason varitek if Boston wants to selloff. Im not holding my breath in the catching dept however. for once I feel the Sox are an OF short. I wouldnt mind a Brad Wilkerson-type guy on the cheap. He can play any OF and is a 1-2 type guy. The pipe dream that is Andruw Jones continues. Lee for Pavano? Pavano is a FA and thats another lineup spot in flux. Perez Gload and Harris doesnt exactly give me chills. Pitching is still a concern, but i think a Sullivan 2003 type of deal would be/will be a ceertainty. Rent-a-liever while giving up very little. Steady Eddie would be sweet, but again, Id take another no-name to shore up the foundation.

Ill check out my window. yup the sky's still there. Rumors of its death have been greatly exaggerated, as usual. Not to sound TOO optimistic, but will some of you just LISTEN to yourselves? -
A suggestion: Harris 2B Uribe 3B Lee LF Frank DH PK 1B Valentin SS Rowand CF Perez RF Alomar/insert catcher here Gload and Crede just need to sit down, their swing just makes me sick watching it. I dont know how you can hit when you pretend youre swinging a boat oar, sheer coincidence? Yeah we miss Maggs. Ill admit it, but his contracted worth is another discussion. For now, i would like him here as long as possible. Hypothesis: Borchard is not getting called up anytime soon as, despite KW words, he is trade bait, just like Reed was. You bring him up and he chokes, his value tanks, just like any other "named untouchable prospect." Borchard will only come up when all avenues have been exhausted OR another roster spot opens up.

Inverted White Sox anguish, all pitching no hitting. I cant remember the last time people were sitting around saying, man, if only we could score! I think if the offense is the only problem, well end up ok. -

Luck has nothing to do with Freddy letting one hang, or Rusch getting the stirke zone of a buick, or crede popping the ball straight up. Its called a slump. Sooner or later you have to break out of it, or else youre just the Diamondbacks. Al things considering, the ball hasnt bounced our way much lately, but when it has, nothings been done either.
