Mark down SDSU for a repeat trip next year too. Unless someone does something stupid like going pro, they should only lose Sharper. A starting lineup of Williams-Heath-Spain-Slaughter-Abukar could beat a lot of major conference teams with some of those guys getting a little more experience.

Tyrus Thomas should be back to his old self by the time they run into Duke, which is really bad for them. Williams and Roberts should both be in serious foul trouble in that game, which should knock them out. Even if that doesn't happen, Texas gets a shot to do the same thing. They won't let Redick scorch them for 41 again.

QUOTE(Rex Hudler @ Mar 17, 2006 -> 01:30 AM) Okay, here is my question for those that watched the whole game closely.... Was IU's defense that bad or was SD St. just shooting unbelievably? Probably a little of both. San Diego State is a solid offensive team, and Indiana held Slaughter in check most of the game. Also, Heath was a little off his normal self, but not by a ton. The difference is that Abukar had a really good game, and Williams was a little better than normal. You might be able to attribute the last two to weak defense.

QUOTE(Rex Hudler @ Mar 17, 2006 -> 01:21 AM) I'll say this about that....... this was a great game and SD St. played very well. VERY WELL actually. I was guilty of saying IU would win by double digits, so I will eat a little crow. But I will say that I, and I am guessing you didn't, really think they would be shooting at a 65% clip 35 minutes into the game or 56% on three-pointers for the whole game. If SD State shot at a semi reasonable clip, IU would have won comfortably. But give them credit. They knocked down shot after shot after shot. IU was lucky to survive. The problem with that theory is that SDSU has some really good shooters, and they hit about 39% from downtown for the year. It's not like Alabama hitting all those shots when they shoot like 34% from there. Heath shoots a little over 41% and hits about 3 a game, Sharper shoots about the same percentage and hits more than 2 a game. Plus they have a good inside game to go with that, giving them a chance at some open shots. Heath actually didn't shoot that well, although Abukar and Williams each hitting 2 is a little weird. That's counteracted a bit by Vaden hitting more than he usually does. SDSU's outside shooting is one of the major reasons they were one of my big upset picks.

QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Mar 17, 2006 -> 12:42 AM) Whoa, don't put words in my mouth. Where in this thread did I ever say this game was a given? I was nervous about this from the beginning. My bad, that wasn't directed at you specifically.

QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Mar 17, 2006 -> 12:36 AM) Uh huh. They still gave them a hell of a game, which is a lot more than a lot of you IU fans thought. If not for a dumb play by Heath and a good bounce before the shot, it would be a different story. You guys got the win, which is nice, but let's not make it sound like the Hoosiers dominated and are on their way to Indianapolis.

Indiana finds a way to win it. Two weird plays destroy my upset pick.

What an awful pass.

Duke didn't exactly smoke Southern They let them hang around for quite a while, and still only won by 16.

3 ball off a deflection. Indiana up 2, probably like 4 seconds left.

Oakland Regional
Weird play. Ball was tipped into the backcourt, SDSU thought it would be backcourt and let it go. Ended in a jump-ball, Indiana gets it.

Heath took a bad 3, but Indiana let them get the rebound and committed a foul. SDSU up 2, one FT left.

How's your bracket?
I got hurt big time with Marquette. They were my crazy pick for the year, so I'm down an Elite 8 team right now. Outside of that I only lost Montana. Late games screwed me a bit. Indiana pulled it out against my upset Sweet 16 team, and Cuse blew it. The latter doesn't really bother me since I had them going out in the next round anyways, and I probably wouldn't have picked Cuse if I had known that G-Mac's groin was bugging him that much.

SDSU is up 10 on Indiana with a little over 13 left. I told you guys. There's still time left, but the Aztecs clearly aren't going down easily.

Jean Felix just flew up my most hated players list. 31 god damned points, which is 12 over his career high. He shot under 30% from the arc this year by the way.

QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Mar 16, 2006 -> 05:44 PM) Bama just pulling threes out of their asses. Marquette in trouble. Novak gets it right back, down four. Plus they have the ball know after Steele gets called for a push-off.

QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Mar 16, 2006 -> 05:42 PM) Nevada gonna be my first miss, and my first S16 gone. Looks like the first 5-seed victim on the year. Montana up 12 with 1:14 left.

Alabama makes a little over 5 3's a game on the season at a 34% rate. They're 11-19 today, which is 57.9%. Marquette on the other hand shoots around 40% on the year, and is at 27.8% today. Talk about out of character. Bama up 6 now, about 3:30 to go.

Alabama hits a couple more 3's, then Marquette fouls another 3-point shooter. Bama up 6, 5:24 left.

Washington DC Regional
That shot was ridiculous. 2 point fall-away in the corner. Winthrop couldn't convert, but they got a decent shot on the richocet off the backboard. God, I love March!
