Sox-Royals on WGN Tonight - 7:11pm CDT
QUOTE (Melissa1334 @ Apr 8, 2009 -> 01:49 PM) well u know what he meant, that since hes slow, even though he does bust his ass, she thinks hes not trying lol hes just slow. ..go sox, I'm going all out with the Thome love this year, this is probably the last time I'll get to see him play in a White Sox uniform so he's getting my unwavering admiration and defense. He will be my one bias.

Will Fans boo Crede Friday?
QUOTE (Y2HH @ Apr 8, 2009 -> 01:43 PM) I can, he's a Twin. He has leeway because of 2005, and because of all he's done with the Sox, but...he's a Twin. A TWIN. $#@! So you boo every Twins batter who comes to the plate? Sounds like a waste of energy to me.

QUOTE (shipps @ Apr 8, 2009 -> 11:15 AM) I think I am gonna watch the game with my grandparents tonight. I havent seen them in a while and my grandma is a die hard sox fan and she is hilarious. She gets sooooo angry when Jim Thome is running out a groundball, everytime she yells "He isnt even trying ,look at him!". LOL Which is weird because Jim Thome probably busts his ass harder down the first base line than any other lumbering slugger in the game.

I can't think of a single good reason to boo him. He'd get a polite golf clap in his first AB from me were I in attendance.

QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 6, 2009 -> 03:12 PM) Khalil Greene might be the worst #4 hitter in the history of baseball. And Chris Duncan (today's #4 hitter) just hit one off the rightfield foul pole after a walk to Pujols.

QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Apr 7, 2009 -> 05:18 PM) Best moron call of the post game show on WSCR 670, "Getz is being talked about keeping Gordon Beckham's position warm. Now I have seen Getz, in the futures game and he is good. What about moving Beckham to CF" /show Rongey's come a long way hasn't he? He's rarely let me down over the last year or so.

QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Apr 7, 2009 -> 03:52 PM) Mahay, Cruz, or even Soria with the game in the balance there. Also, as Ozzie is talking about it here, why did Cox send Jermaine after we scored our first run? The man was out as soon as Cox waived his hand. 2 years, $9.25M for Farnsworth at the beginning of free agency. What an awful, awful deal.

QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Apr 7, 2009 -> 03:45 PM) Also, I ask that mods only change the score. The reason why I placed Official Post Game Thread Winner, was because it seems like a lot of people will only post "AWESOME - THOMEZ WUZ THE MANZ". I wanted to try something different where people actually talk about the game, both good and bad. Just an idea. Agreed and fixed.

Official Opening Day Post Game Thread
QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Apr 7, 2009 -> 03:42 PM) I don't see what Josh Fields did today that Crede cannot. I'm not trying to start a war or anything, and I like Fields at 3B now that he's healthy. Also, Quentin's swing seemed a bit long. Fields has a quicker swing it seems like. I really really like Getz as well. 800 career games played for Joe and not a single bunt hit. If third basemen are going to play Josh back like Gordon did today, it's nice to know that Josh is willing and capable of dropping down a bunt and beating it out with that good speed of his. And post 2006 Crede could NEVER make the play Josh did on the throw home.

QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 7, 2009 -> 03:37 PM) It's amazing how much more work I get done by not posting in the game thread. Great to see Thome pick up from last year, and excellent work by the bullpen. It's not worth getting upset about Wise, as that experiment won't last long if he struggles like he did today. Of more concern is the irresponsible base running we saw in Spring Training that continued today. It's always great to win the first game though...well done Sox! Jeff Cox is leaving his mark on this club.

Thank god for Jim Thome. Josh Fields did a couple of things today that our last 3B couldn't DREAM of doing (that's the last time I'll compare the two.) Getz is going to be a hell of a player for us, can't wait until we find a major league hitter to pair with him at the top. Richard, Dotel, Jenks -> excellence

Bobby is throwing real hard. The bullpen has been incredible today. *knock on wood*

I really don't get Ozzie, this is the 3rd year in a row that he's refused to substitute Brian late in ballgames. Whether it's Pods heading a ball in LF in Oakland or Swisher showing off miserable range late in games in April of last year, Ozzie prefers to wait until May to start using Brian as a late game defensive replacement.

Jim Thome is the f***ing man. I can't articulate just how much I love him. Always have, always will. There is nothing I'd like more than to see him get a ring this season whether it's with us or another team he's dealt to at the break, he deserves to experience that joy before retires.

He's having a bad day because he's an awful baseball player, Hawk.

U.S. Cellular Field updates
April 4th, 2005: Opening Day at the Cell, 64 degrees and sunny, Buehrle and Shingo shutout the Indians 1-0 in a game that lasted just 1 hour and 51 minutes. Probably one of the more enjoyable games I've ever attended.

2009 MLB Catch-All Thread
Not only did the Mariners move Brandon Morrow to the bullpen (he's now looked at as their franchise closer) but 2007 golden armed first round pick Phillippe Aumont has also been moved to the Class A+ High Desert Mavericks' bullpen in an effort to fast track him to the majors. Some bizarre moves coming out of Seattle.
