  1. Problem is, the 72 hour window doesn't fit the "sell him on Sox culture" narrative, unless Sox culture is significantly more potent than I thought it to be.
  2. Ugh, this is not what I expected to wake up to. I did think it would take Giolito so I guess I got that going for me.
  3. QUOTE (iamshack @ Dec 13, 2017 -> 07:45 PM) Define “very significant assets.”? To get the Orioles to pull that trigger right now? You're dipping into Giolito/Lopez/Hansen/Cease/Dunning. Not Clarkin and Jordan Stephens. And they're gonna want pitching, the Orioles have no f***ing idea how to develop a pitcher.
  4. QUOTE (iamshack @ Dec 13, 2017 -> 07:52 PM) Hah...to think this is Hahn. I get that but Hahn is the one with the quotes and the KW/Hahn power struggle thing I just refuse to delve into. For the sake of sanity I have to believe Hahn has some sort of autonomy.
  5. QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 13, 2017 -> 07:45 PM) I’m probably Charlie Brown trying to kick the football, but I just don’t think they will be that stupid. Meaning, I believe they “explore” the market, but I don’t think this gets done at all. Like sub 1%. But I’m not shocked they inquired. I do think of all the teams, Sox view the Phillies rebuild as parallel. And it’s not a surprise to me phils also talked about Machado. Agreed 100%, just doing a risk assessment working under the assumption something could actually get done this month given the sudden possible smoke. I'm 98% confident Hahn wouldn't pull some s*** like that, it's just that 2% that gnaws at you.
  6. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Dec 13, 2017 -> 07:33 PM) Give him a taste of your organization for the first four months of the seasons. Try to convince him to sign an extension during that timeframe. If not, trade him at the deadline for what should be similar value but express the fact you’re going to do everything in your power to bring him back. To Rick’s point, sometimes you need to take a risk. If we’re prepared to offer as much as anyone else, getting him familiar with our team could be the diffence between him picking us and a team like the Yankees or Phillies. Except the risk in this scenario is significant with a very real chance of just pissing away assets. If the Orioles agree to trade Manny in December it's going to cost very significant assets, not lesser prospects that we see as expendable all for the opportunity to hope Manny does the Sox a solid and limits his future earnings 2 months away from free agency because he really likes "Sox culture". It's in no way a risk worth taking.
  7. This has nothing to do with Machado, clearly the eyes are foreshadowing the Sox trading for the 2nd pick in the rule V draft. Did you not see the "um"? Clearly this is bigger than Manny.
  8. It wasn't a long season at all, he played 89 games after missing the first month due to injury, I see no issue with him playing in the DWL.
  9. I just can't imagine anything touching Legion's level of quality, it's unlike anything that's ever been on TV before, it's a totally unique and incredible experience.
  10. QUOTE (ron883 @ Nov 15, 2017 -> 07:24 AM) I don't care what any damn fluff piece article says about Shohei not caring about money. 300k vs 3-8 mil is a HUGE difference, and it is the difference between being financially sound for your entire life. This kid could blow his arm out and then it is over. He won't be coming here for 300k. I'd love to live in fantasy land where it happens, but it aint happening. However, I think a HUGE indicator of there being a chance would be if the Sox hired Tadahito iguchi. Iguchi is looking to get into the managerial game, and he is beloved by the Sox. Once they sign him to a position, then we can start talking. Until then, I'm not holding my breath. Keep in mind also he's earned over $5M total the last 3 years playing for the Ham Fighters, about $2.5M last year. While salaries in Japan aren't what they are in the MLB he hasn't been making a pittance playing in a major, professional league.
  11. QUOTE (InTheDriversSeat @ Oct 26, 2017 -> 02:18 PM) Nobody that is located in the 'White Sox / Cubs Zone' (all of Iowa, most of Illinois, most of Indiana, small part of Wisconsin) can watch live White Sox games on MLB.tv. Is 'PlayStation Vue' available in your area? 'PlayStation Vue' is an internet streaming service which connects to your TV, similar to Sling. But unlike Sling, which does not offer NBC Sports Chicago (formerly Comcast SportsNet Chicago), PlayStation Vue does provide NBCSC on it's lineup. I heard that the price is alot cheaper than cable or using a dish. Furthermore, any paying customers of NBC Sports Chicago should be eligible to watch White Sox games live on the NBC Sports App. Regarding the WGN telecasts, I can give you some insight but where in Iowa are you located? . I have PS Vue and will vouch for it, very good service. $45 a month gets me NBC Sports Chicago and any channel I'd ever be interested in watching with the exception of WGN which blows. Plus an extra $10 a month for RedZone. Also no contract.
  12. Well, there were a few variations I made awhile back: one was Anderson, Q, Rodon the other: Anderson, Moncada, Rodon. They live in the ether and are a bit dire. I decided no minor leaguers hit the banner until they debut, this isn't futuresox. So who gets featured? I typically go 3 pics, can be the same dude or any combination of ML players.
  13. QUOTE (greg775 @ Oct 5, 2017 -> 09:19 PM) The underhedline on this post is kind of classless. Sale is still a great pitcher. He did get hammered today. Anybody watch it? What was the problem? We saw some rare bad Sale starts with the Sox as well. Stuff happens. He's a spaz that over-throws when the adrenaline flows, he misses his spots and gets hit hard, with experience and late season throttling, this may be avoidable. It's hard to tell how much is mental or physical, the total package just comes with this kind of pitcher.
  14. QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Oct 1, 2017 -> 11:38 PM) Does anyone here watch Nathan For You? The season 4 premiere was fantastic. Might be the most convoluted scheme he's done yet. I love it, it's incredible how consistently hilarious each episode. On another note: watched the pilot for Great News. I assume it's been canceled by now? They made a terrible version of 30 Rock with Nicole Richie as a main character.
  15. All your opinions and suggestions are null and mean nothing to me, the next banner will feature White Sox hero and enormous f*** up who will live on in our hearts forever, Mike Caruso.
  16. QUOTE (Tony @ Sep 25, 2017 -> 08:38 PM) For those that haven't seen it. https://www.mlb.com/whitesox/video/sit-down...3?tid=221385666 90 miles is so f***ing good. Used to eat there constantly when I lived in Bucktown. Love thier churrasco. Video was also good.
  17. I think I feel where this season is going. My gut's telling me Glennon gets hurt on Thursday.
  18. QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 20, 2017 -> 10:28 PM) I think the Cubs and Indians are locks for the WS and the Cubs win again. Parade deuce. Cubs and Indians obviously were not into it until recently. They survived the doldrums and are ready to roll again. They have the most talent, folks. It must be exhausting living in a world of extreme absolutes. I don't know how you even function on a daily basis.
  19. QUOTE (Wanne @ Sep 15, 2017 -> 03:10 PM) sorry...didn't think it was even close regardless of badly Contreras framed it. When you have to backhand a ball that's low and away?...that's a strike now? https://twitter.com/CubsUmp/status/908777689628233729
  20. QUOTE (bmags @ Sep 14, 2017 -> 11:47 AM) I just want a star wars move that every time its on I'll sit and watch no matter what point it is just because I love the scenes and characters so much. I actually left thinking TFA was that, only to rewatch and it and just being super super bored. Like, I'll watch edge of tomorrow literally every time its on. I wanted that. This x1000, criminally underrated, one of the best action movies in recent memory, I don't tend to re-watch movies especially those released recently but Edge of Tomorrow, In Bruges and Nightcrawler I can watch anytime.
  21. QUOTE (2005thxfrthmmrs @ Sep 3, 2017 -> 03:52 PM) Missed the game today, how did Gio's fastball look? Adequate, commanded it nicely. The secondary offerings were on display today.
  22. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 3, 2017 -> 03:35 PM) Kinda has the Chris Young thing going where his size makes his high fastball deadlier than it should be The downward plane makes a huge difference.
  23. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Sep 3, 2017 -> 03:22 PM) He located his fastball so beautifully today. If he does that then he's going to be a stud. Awesome performance. Yep, if the curve and change are as good as he showed today all he has to do is command a 92 MPH fastball and he'll be good. The change was just so damn good, I now love him.
  24. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Sep 3, 2017 -> 03:21 PM) This game has been a freakin joy to watch. I hope Infante and Holland blow it but I'm ok with this win if not, the right players are doing the right things.
  25. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 3, 2017 -> 03:11 PM) He's getting a lot of swings and misses today. Really impressive That was dominant and probably his most impressive outing in the org. Command and movement all over the damn place, if his velocity was what it used to be I don't even know what his ceiling would be.
