  1. As for the initial post, that blog probably got this idea from Mark Gonzales' piece from yesterday (White Sox Running Out of Good Options): So there is no real report saying the Sox are actively shopping Konerko or even fielding offers (which I'm sure they are) there's just speculation from the Tribune's White Sox beat reporter.
  2. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Dec 14, 2007 -> 12:06 AM) He'd probably be a little below average, but Morgan Ensberg could put up non-awful production at first (or third). Last year two first-base types were found off the scrap-heap in what turned out to be fantastic pickups in Carlos Pena and Jack Cust. Also Dimitri Young and his .869 OPS.
  3. Well it would surprise me seeing as how Rowand can't be traded by rule until like May.
  4. QUOTE(Big Hurtin @ Dec 13, 2007 -> 11:17 PM) Adam Everett @ $2.8M > Uribe @ $4.5M, no? I'll take Uribe.
  5. QUOTE(BearSox @ Dec 13, 2007 -> 07:02 PM) well, we could very well have another opening with Crede, who we don't even know if he has been tendered. He was definitely tendered a contract otherwise he would have been declared a free agent last night.
  6. Then what were the $4,800 worth of checks for Jim?
  7. QUOTE(fathom @ Dec 13, 2007 -> 10:43 PM) Personally, I think trading Thome is a much smarter option. NTC He doesn't want to leave or at least he didn't in July of last year.
  8. QUOTE(fathom @ Dec 13, 2007 -> 10:36 PM) I despise the idea of playing Fields at 1b, as you're taking away a year of development at the position he'll be at for 2009. Crede would be such a mediocre player at 1b. If Crede were the full time starting 1B for the Reds (they didn't have a qualifying 1B last year) in 2007 and put up identical numbers to his 2006 season Joe would still be the 5th least productive 1B in baseball (in terms of OPS) amongst qualified 1B. And that's if he matched the numbers he put up in his career year, if he matched his .776 career OPS he would be the least productive qualifying 1B in the game.
  9. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Dec 13, 2007 -> 01:30 PM) Has anyone seen any member of our 2005 team? Not a one.
  10. QUOTE(klaus kinski @ Dec 13, 2007 -> 01:26 PM) When Cameron hit those HR off Parque it was JUICE against JUICE Mike Cameron is not named in the report.
  11. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Dec 13, 2007 -> 01:12 PM) Mitchell just alleged that the report provides info on people who were warned about upcoming tests in advance. Has anyone hit that section yet? That would be a bombshell. Alleged Advance Notice of 2003 Survey Testing In an article published on October 16, 2004, Lance Williams and Mark Fainaru- Wada of the San Francisco Chronicle reported statements from a surreptitious recording of a 558 Memorandum from Jennifer R. Gefsky to Robert D. Manfred, Jr. Re: 2006 Medical/ Drug Testing Budget, dated Oct. 3, 2005, at 1. 279 conversation reportedly between Greg Anderson and an unidentified person; the authors repeated those statements in Game of Shadows.559 According to the article, a voice identified by an unnamed source to be Anderson’s is heard on the tape stating: “We know when they’re going to do it,” he would say. “See, the lab that does this stuff is the lab that does . . .” His voice trailed off for a moment. “I’ll know like a week in advance or two weeks in advance before they’re going to do it,” Anderson continued. “But it’s going to be either at the end of May or beginning of June, right before the All-Star break definitely. So . . . after the All-Star break, we’re like . . . clear.”560 Fainaru-Wada and Williams refused to talk with me, and I could not obtain a copy of the complete recording or otherwise confirm that Anderson made these statements.561 I also could not confirm that the statements were made “early in the 2003 season,” as the authors reported. However, records that we obtained from the contractor who administered his tests show that Bonds was tested on May 28 and June 4, 2003. Therefore, if the report of this conversation is accurate Anderson correctly predicted the dates of testing, at least for his client Barry Bonds.
  12. QUOTE(NCsoxfan @ Dec 13, 2007 -> 01:06 PM) Karchner too It doesn't say that Karchner used just that 2 of his '99 Cubs teammates offered him steroids and that he saw them inject themselves.
  13. Jeff Bagwell is not in the report.
  14. Well, at least I got one name right; Paul Lo Duca.
  15. QUOTE(daa84 @ Dec 13, 2007 -> 12:57 PM) um so jeremy schapp just said the mitchell report has dozens of pictures of checks from guys like vina, rondell white, who arent on those lists mentioned before to the mets clubhouse guy for roids....mitchell report also had something that said clemens asked about some steroid from his trainer, his trainer told him not to take it, so he went to canseco to get it....clemens trainer also said that he himself had injected clemens with a different type of steroid, winsterol or something....mitchell report will be posted on mlb.com Is Fernando Vina still employed by ESPN? If so, that could be interesting.
  16. I turned on ESPN News and caught the backend of Jeremy Shapp (SP?) reading off some names, the only new name I heard was Rondell White.
  17. According to SI Tejada, Clemens and Pettitte will all be named along with Brian Roberts, Mike Stanton, Jason Grimsley and Chuck Knoblauch.
  18. And with 2 minutes to go Sharp makes it 6-3 Hawks with his 14th goal of the year coming on a breakaway.
  19. They're reviewing the goal to see if he batted it in with his hand or arm. It looks like the puck just deflected off his chest, the goal should count. And . . . it's a goal.
  20. I'd put money on it that 15-20 players named will be no name Mets bench players. (AKA: Timo) There's going to be an awful lot of disappointed people when the report is made public tomorrow.
  21. QUOTE(Mr. Showtime @ Dec 12, 2007 -> 08:40 PM) I'm just the opposite. If the Bears win, great, If the Bears lose, then I get to hear all the dopes on sports radio and it makes my day. When the Sox or Hawks are playing like crap, I'm throwing ****. The Hawks' stretch of futility and the home games not being on tv made it rather easy for me to keep my distance but this new era of Hawks hockey is pretty damn fun and it's going to be tough not to emotionally invest in this team.
  22. Havlat just scored a nifty goal during the 2 man advantage.. 4-1 Hawks.
