  1. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Dec 12, 2007 -> 08:05 PM) Who, the what the, when did, what? I love watching hockey I just don't get into it like I do Football and Baseball to a lesser extent Basketball. Hawks games are just a fun distraction for me I'd much rather not get psychotic about the Hawks the way I do the Bears and especially the Sox. So I know about as much as I need to know but I'll probably never know as much as I possibly could.
  2. There's no word yet on Crede. The official press release just says he's the only remaining Sox player who's Arb eligible.
  3. Just guessing . . . Barry Bonds, Ken Caminiti, Jose Canseco, Jason Giambi and maybe Miguel Tejada will be the MVPs named. With Ivan Rodriguez and Sammy Sosa being 2 obvious users who will not be named.
  4. Hawks are up 3-0 about 16 minutes into the game. Tuomo and Marty both scored on strong wristers right out in front of the goal and Keith just added another on a break away assisted by Kane. Aubin just got pulled. Pretty exciting start to this game, a lot of scoring opportunities early.
  5. The Gonzalez and Phillips Non-Tenderings are official.
  6. Rotoworld makes it sound like Crede was tendered an offer. Nothing on the Sox's official site.
  7. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Dec 12, 2007 -> 07:23 PM) You see, he was even more valuable than I thought. So out of his 11 RBI's, which one was your favorite?? Definitely #9 it came in the 9th inning of a loss July loss to the Orioles but the single which plated that run lifted his career OPS to an all time high of .717 and would be one of 3 RBIs he'd manage in the final 136 PA of his major league career.
  8. Oh, it's the 8th. Good point though, without the efforts of Andy Gonzalez this team may have managed 73 wins which would have landed us the 10th pick in next year's draft.
  9. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Dec 12, 2007 -> 07:12 PM) Movin' on up! Seriously though, good move. AND ONLY 2-4 MONTHS TOO LATE!!
  10. QUOTE(Hatchetman @ Dec 12, 2007 -> 06:45 PM) ESPN said there were 60-80 current/former players on the list. There have been that many names that have come out in the press in recent years. I don't think there will be any surprises. The guys I always suspected were Mags and Rowand. Howry too. Kroch obviously. Him and another white OF from the '05 team, though I doubt either will be named in the Mitchell Report.
  11. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Dec 12, 2007 -> 06:29 PM) I agree. I could be totally wrong(it happens often) but I think most of the names will be those that have already been speculated on for a long time(Giambi, McGwire, ect) and the slew of names we are going to hear isn't going to be earth shattering. I wouldn't be surprised one bit if they included names like Raffy Palmeiro, Alex Sanchez, Jorge Piedra, Jose Guillen, Jay Gibbons, etc. which would bring down the amount of "new" names significantly.
  12. If Prior were willing to accept a contract that included an option for 2009 then he would have already signed with the Cubs, that's been the 1 sticking point in negotiations between the two sides.
  13. I think it will be a colossal waste of time and energy.
  14. He's Jerry Owens Lite (if that's at all possible.)
  15. QUOTE(max power @ Dec 12, 2007 -> 05:34 PM) Aren't there 12 people on the list? I just went with the odds. I'm certainly not naive, though I could be completely wrong about how many people are on it. I thought I read that somewhere here. 60-80 current and former players are supposed to be named with a large portion of them having Mets ties.
  16. Well it's official, he will seek employment in the U.S.
  17. I'd love for KW to bring in Colon on a Randy Wolf type deal (1 year, $4M guaranteed with a chance for another $5M in incentives.) From what I've read the arm strength is still there which means he still has the potential to be a damn good #3 type starter. Bartolo should be healthy by opening day unlike Garcia who is supposed to be back some time around the All Star Break.
  18. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Dec 10, 2007 -> 02:16 PM) I would of liked to have seen some younger prospects brought over for Garland, but you can't knock the move. I forget, you are Mr. Go for it all the time. You would burn him this season in the miniscule chance for 75 wins over 72 because draft picks mean nothing. Getting something for Jon better than nothing. At least if Sox finish in 4th place next year Orlando will bring you 2 high draft picks if he walks unlike Garland who's only going to bring you 1.
  19. Alright I think we're all caught up, let me know if I missed anything.
  20. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Dec 9, 2007 -> 04:13 PM) You could very well be wasting 3.75 mill. What's the point? Let the Yankees take that risk and let the relievers develop at the major league level, as there's really no harm. You'd be wasting at least $4M possibly more, why would he come here for $3.75M if he could get the same deal from a much better team in the Yankees? You'd have to top the Yankees offer in order to steal him away.
  21. QUOTE(jenks45monster @ Dec 9, 2007 -> 04:04 PM) It isn't like he's 40 or 42 or anything. A one year deal for a 34 year old wouldn't be the worst thing the Sox did this offseason. Or they could avoid wasting $4M on a bad pitcher. They already gave Linebrink similar money over 4 years to be their setup man, it would be just plain stupid to give a 35 year old righty contact pitcher another $4M to pitch in the 6th and 7th inning of games when Wasserman could probably be just as effective for $3.6M less.
  22. QUOTE(jenks45monster @ Dec 9, 2007 -> 03:56 PM) The last 2 seasons he was with the twins he posted a 2-something and a 1-something ERA before moving to the Cubs where he has a 2-something You mean 5 years ago when he was still 29/30 years old and throwing in the upper 90's?
  23. QUOTE(iamshack @ Dec 9, 2007 -> 03:55 PM) And I keep seeing that posted, but not really referred to in other places. If that is the case, then I guess 3/$40m would be as high as I would go. From Corey Brock of MLB.com:
  24. Just because someone puts up mid 3 ERA for one season in the national league west doesn't mean they can consistently retire AL Central hitters. There's a reason why no one is willing to guarantee him 2 years. Now a days he pitches to contact but his stuff isn't nearly good enough to get away with it.
  25. What did he do during his last go-round in the American League? Take a look at his K/IP numbers over the last few seasons, he's going to get demolished upon his return to the AL.
