  1. It's amazing how in almost every article I've read this morning about Thome's HoF credentials nearly every one of them uses the fact that Thome has spent a very large portion of his career at DH against him. GP at 1B: 1101 GP at 3B: 492 GP at DH: 377 So apparently spending 19% of your career at designated hitter is enough to keep you out of the hall of fame. And yes I do put him in on the first ballot. With so many f***ing dickheads and arrogant pricks being voted in I could probably find a place on my ballot for the nicest, most gracious, most humble man to ever play the game. To put up such amazing numbers for so long all while being such an amazing human being and ambassador to the game is just remarkable.
  2. Updated standings: W L LB Tampa Bay 63 87 -- #1 Chicago Sox 64 85 2 #2 Baltimore 64 84 3 #3 Kansas City 64 84 3 Houston 65 84 3 #5 Florida 65 84 3 Pittsburgh 65 83 4 #7 Washington 66 83 4 #8 San Francisco 66 83 4 Cincinnati 68 81 6 #10 Those at the top all won and those at the bottom all lost so everything is a wee bit closer after today.
  3. New day, same f***ing arguments. Yeah, debating the same thing over and over again with the exact same evidence never gets old.
  4. I am unimpressed.

    QUOTE(3E8 @ Sep 15, 2007 -> 05:09 PM) What an awesome movie. I'm genuinely pissed after just heading to Twin Galaxies to see who has the world record.. *plenty of spoilers* The Mitchell tape controversy REALLY pissed me off. I found myself wanting to strangle that f***ing referee. The final scene in the movie where they had an update to the standings had me cheering from my seat and later jumping for joy. They build up the characters throughout the film so damn well that you can't help but become emotionally invested in the ups and downs that Webe goes through and flat out HATE Billy Mitchell. And yeah, checking the standings on the website after the movie upset me as well.
  7. QUOTE(Texsox @ Sep 14, 2007 -> 11:14 PM) Where fans standing for each at bat? Probably in front of their seats.
  8. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Sep 14, 2007 -> 10:06 PM) Duh, you can so predict a players worth in less than 300ABs. If they havent hit .350 and hit 12 dongs in 150AB, they are junk. I love how he can project the 37 year old gooch as well at the end of his 4 years. But even beyond that, at this point in their careers Iguchi is a better player than Richar, how much better is of course a matter of opinion but I think we can agree that Iguchi is better. So what is the point? Iguchi is better, what does that have to do with anything? Who cares?
  9. QUOTE(greg775 @ Sep 14, 2007 -> 08:31 PM) Iguchi .... good. Danny Richar ... so far, bad. Point being?
  10. Even if the Sox didn't sign the draft pick (though they definitely would) they'd get that same exact draft position the next season so that argument definitely falls short in several departments.
  11. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 14, 2007 -> 07:34 PM) Yep, Ozzie and ARod have a great relationship. Better than his relationship with Pinella! Oh, wait . . . s***.
  12. Another question. What can the Sox offer that the Angels can not?
  13. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Sep 14, 2007 -> 07:10 PM) I guess the Sox could offer A-Rod the third base position if he still wanted to play there. That's the ONLY thing I can think of.
  14. They should have just as much money to spend as the Sox if not more.
  15. Can anyone name 1 thing the Sox can offer that the Cubs can not?
  16. Matthews' name was mentioned in connection to illegal suppliers back in February.
  17. I've been told I look a lot like Calista Flockhart which I think is bulls***. If I were to compare myself to anyone on Ally McBeal it would be Portia de Rossi but with a better ass.
  18. Thome needs to hit it tonight. I'll actually be able to see today's game but I'll be busy all day tomorrow so that's a no go. As Thome's biggest (probably a tie) supporter and fan in Chicago it's very important that I see it live.
  19. Why in the hell would ARod come here over say either LA team or the Cubs and Sweet Lou (AKA: Father Figure)?

    QUOTE(Brian @ Sep 14, 2007 -> 11:03 AM) I could of predicted this without seeing it. Just going by the trailer for the film I knew it was going to be terrible but I couldn't imagine a movie that employs the talents of Odenkirk and Arnett could be THAT miserable (I do remember chuckling once during "Let's Go to Prison".) It's by far the worst movie I've seen this year. On a related note; just going by trailers and the cast list "Mr. Woodcock" might just give "The Brothers Solomon" a run for its money.
  21. Actually, .250/.300 is horrible unless his slugging is somewhere around .400 then maybe it's acceptable. When compared to the 12 SS that qualified for the AL batting title this season a .250 batting average from Uribe would have been the 2nd worst with only Julio Lugo being more futile. A .300 OBP would be the 3rd worst with Lugo and Pena Jr. being the only SS more pathetic. Hell if Juan goes 14 for his next 20 he'll have a BA right at .250 and an OBP right around .300. Just looking at his numbers it's amazing how terrible Juan's average's are this season. AVG: .230 | AL RANK: 12/12 OBP: .282 | AL RANK: 11/12 SLG: .394 | AL RANK: 9/12 OPS: .672 | AL RANK: 10/12 AB/SO: 4.5 | AL RANK: 11/12 AB/2B: 32.6 | AL RANK: 12/12 AB/SB: 457 | AL RANK: 12/12 AB/CS: 65.3 | AL RANK: 12/12 SB%: 13% | AL RANK: 12/12 AB/HR: 24 | AL RANK: 1/12
  22. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Sep 14, 2007 -> 11:50 AM) Greg Walker said Todd Ritchie would in be in his opening day rotation in 2003 at the end of 2002. I don't take much seriously when the guy in question is 38. Greg or Nardi?
  23. Kalapse replied to Chisoxfn's topic in SLaM
    "The Brothers Solomon" was just flat out horrendous. Will Arnett needs to stop doing Bob Odenkirk movies because they're ruining his career. He's gone from being the funniest character on the funniest/best show on television to staring in terrible comedies along side some of the most annoying/least talented people in the business (Dax Sheppard and Will Forte.)
