  1. QUOTE(JohnCangelosi @ Jun 5, 2007 -> 02:24 PM) When did I say I was righteous? I certainly didn't b**** about the SP in ST. I believed Buerhle was going to have a good year but had no reason to believe it outside of the fact I don't base opinions based on 3 months of baseball. Remember Clemens was kicked out of Boston by hypersensitive people like yourself saying he was done. How wrong they were! Just because I found this forum in March means I have no credibility? I've been following the White Sox for 22 years, (longer than you've been alive?) usually catching on average around 140 games a year. Why isn't it fair to call you out and simply say, "Yes, you're right, we suck, but NOT because of why you thought we'd suck!"? Did I hurt your feelings? Don't take it personally, you were wrong, that's all. Sorry, I shouldn't say that. Once I have 1,000 posts inherently my comments will have credibility. Makes about as much sense as saying you should only start in the major leagues after you hit 30 yrs old. P.S. I am a 35yr old man and in running my software business and managing a 100 or so employees, I don't get on here as much as I like, so it may take a while to get 1,000 posts ;-) You are making blanket statements, if you want to call out individual posters then go for it. Find some past post of theirs and give them an opportunity to defend themselves, what you're doing right now is conjecture and complete horses***. Congrats to you on your life long Sox fandom, I really don't give a s*** about your lameass life story. I don't know any of your opinions because you have yet to create any sort of history on this board, before calling out an entire community (which is an incredibly flawed plan to begin with) you should first get your thoughts out there so people have some means of rebuttal. So when can I start up a thread calling out everyone on the board who thought the Sox would run away with the division? They were totally wrong and should really eat some Crow for their false predictions. QUOTE(WCSox @ Jun 5, 2007 -> 02:32 PM) Don't you get it? Only college kids who post 20+ times a day on Soxtalk know what they're talking about. Sheesh! So you really don't get what I was saying there huh? If you decided to call me out right now for something I said in the offseason I could atleast go back and pull up a good amount of your posts from the past in order to form a proper rebuttal. I can't do that with someone who has yet to set up any sort of reputation on the board. I did a quick google search for JohnCangelosi on Soxtalk and couldn't find any sort of opinionated posts. If I get called out by someone like that then what the hell is my recourse?
  2. Any bits of information you hear or read about possible acquisitions league wide that don't necessarily deserve a separate thread can be posted here.

  4. QUOTE(JohnCangelosi @ Jun 5, 2007 -> 01:44 PM) Uhh what facts did I not get straight? I think it's time someone steps up and says something when you talk out of both sides of your mouth. It's easy sitting on the sidelines being able to cover your ass and when things go wrong you can say "I told you so". Meanwhile, the reason this team sucks is NOT the reason you predicted at the start of the year with your doomsday attitude, in fact, it's the exact opposite, which is my point. That said, how can you sit there saying you have ANY more of a clue than the people you b**** about that are running this team??? I truly love how you speak in generalities. You have what? 100 posts? Who the f*** are you to talk, seriously? I honestly have no clue what your feeling on the team were coming into the season, maybe you can give me a little evidence as to how you are the righteous one here and how everyone else is a hypocrite. I really have no idea why I should take anything you've posted here with any more than a grain of salt. Next time you decide to start calling out an entire group of people, you should first build up a bit of credibility and a reputation in that community.
  5. QUOTE(JohnCangelosi @ Jun 5, 2007 -> 01:29 PM) (Ironically, if we didn't have the guy MOST people were b****ing about that Kenny picked up we'd probably be 4 or 5 more games under .500 (Erstad).) And now that he's hurt there's no realistic replacement for him. That's EXACTLY what was feared would happen when he originally signed. Darin Erstad is not a f***ing positive, the fact that KW put all of his eggs in the Pods/Erstad basket has completely f***ed up the top of this lineup and will probably be impossible fix for the rest of the season. The Erstad and Podsednik signings were terrible and have put this team in a position it couldn't afford to be in, they have to tread water for the next 4 months with no leadoff man. QUOTE(JohnCangelosi @ Jun 5, 2007 -> 01:29 PM) All I am saying is the naysayers in this forum were WRONG about why this team was going to suck this year, and it proves you guys don't necessarily know it all either. If and when this team starts hitting, you'll see that this is a competitive squad after all, and you'll have to eat some crowe. Other than being an incredibly misguided attempt at self serving s*** talking what exactly did you hope to gain by calling people out? You can't even get your facts straight.
  6. QUOTE(RME JICO @ Jun 5, 2007 -> 12:58 PM) Does anyone know a site that has stats for inherited runners for relief pitchers? The ESPN player's pages have IR/IS statistics in the Miscellaneous Pitching box at the bottom of the stats screen. For example MacDougal has inherited 22 runners this year and only 6 have scored.
  7. Yeah it was pretty f***ed up criticizing the incredibly overweight closer with the screws holding his elbow together and some numbers from the beginning of July to the end of last season that would make you cringe. He was one of the worst relievers in baseball from July 6th to the end of the year last season, anyone who questioned his abilities was only be realistic, hell I still have my doubts when it comes to Bobby, lets see him pitch an entire season with consistent results before anointing him anything but a question mark. Contreras is old, he's being showing his age all year, his 1.446 WHIP and consistently shaky performances are evidence of that. His velocity is down and he's throwing almost exclusively from the side, hopefully he can get his good stuff back but considering the mileage on his arm and his probably age I don't like the odds. Garland isn't really overrated, if you consider him an incredibly reliable, sometimes dominant but more often than not slightly above league average starter then you're rating him about right. He's the type of starter you love to have in your rotation and a good fit for the ballpark he plays the majority of his games in. Buehrle was coming off the worst 3 months of his career last season, he had quite a bit to prove coming in and luckily he has shown that last year was more of an aberration than anything else. Vazquez is seriously pissing me off, I really felt this was going to be a breakout season for him but he has yet to take over and dominate the way I expected him to. His last start was exactly what I thought we'd be seeing for the majority of the season, the Sox badly need that sort of consistently nasty performance from a guy who will be making $11.5M for the next 3 years or so. I loved the inclusion of Danks in the starting rotation out of ST, he's one of the only players on the team who I felt truly earned his job this Spring. I'd say 50% of the talk on the board during the Spring was about the outfield and how many people, myself included, felt the outfield was going to be a complete disaster. "some" anger over the LF/CF situation is a gross understatement.
  8. QUOTE(caulfield12 @ Jun 5, 2007 -> 09:52 AM) Welcome to the Class of FA's who will be available after next season (BLEAK) OUTFIELDERS 30 or UNDER (where you might see a Dye swap, but not to TB) Endy Chavez - bad Luis Matos - real bad Larry Bigbie - super bad *Pat Burrell - he'll be 32 but still a pretty decent player *Carl Crawford - has 2 option years that will likely be picked up forcing back his FA year to 2011 *Craig Monroe - 32 years old, w00t .300 OBP! *R. Baldelli - Rocco has a $6M team option for the 2009 season that will be picked up no matter what. If he reaches his potential even a bit before the 2010 season his other 2 option years will likely be activated together pushing back his first free agent year to 2012, he will likely be elsewhere by this time anyway. Kevin Mench - meh, he can be had now if you really want him *Willy Mo Pena - no thanks *Juan Rivera (recovering from broken leg) - who the hell knows what will be going on with him by that time. The two big names will be V. Guerrero and Manny Ramirez. 2B (to replace Iguchi) Jamey Carroll (too old?) - too bad as well Ray Durham (see above) - I'd say 37 is a bit up there in age. *Mark Ellis - No thanks *Orlando Hudson - Yes, please. SS (to replace Uribe, a little more promising here) Angel Berroa - terrible Alex Cora (included because of Joey's presence) - bad *Orlando Cabrera - he'll be 34, I'll take a pass Adam Everett - bad *Rafael Furcal - could be a decent pickup depending upon the condition of his legs at the time and the cost Felipe Lopez - not really a SS *Edgar Renteria - He's already tried the American League thing, it didn't work out too well. CATCHER *Estrada - 33 years old, I'll take AJ *Redmond - 38 years old *Ross (CIN) - no thanks Varitek - 37 years old *Vance Wilson - bad Greg Zaun - 38 years old Henry Blanco - 37 years old and not starter quality Adam Melhuse - 37 years old and a bad catcher Sal Fasano 37 years old
  9. QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Jun 4, 2007 -> 09:36 PM) what was that windbag saying? never mind, I can bet the entire broadcast focused on the yankees and the fact that they're still alive. Yeah, pretty much, that and rip on A-Rod for being a little b****. Sutcliffe mentioned something like 5 times that if he were Rodriguez he would have left the extra $100M from Texas on the table and accepted the $150M deal from the Mariners. Congrats to him really, I don't buy a f***ing word of it but he feels the need to mention it every f***ing inning.
  10. No matter what happens here I'd just like to say that IMO Ozzie made every correct move when it came to the pitching staff tonight.
  11. QUOTE(RibbieRubarb @ Jun 4, 2007 -> 09:09 PM) Most wins by a starting pitcher over the last two seasons (36). Congrats to him, run support and general luck does not make him an ace. When every single stat that matters says he's a very reliable but slightly above league average starter, I tend to turn a blind eye to the wins category. I love Garland and all but he's not nearly as good as his win total may lead you to believe.
  12. This is f***ing nerve racking, why are they doing this to us? The pen can't seriously be this bad can it?
  13. Ugh, why is it whenever Ozzie makes a correct move with the pitching staff he catches s*** for it from the fans at the Cell? It makes no sense.
  14. Jon Garland is a #1 guy? What the f***? Since when does being slightly above average make you an ace?
  15. QUOTE(WhiteSoxfan1986 @ Jun 4, 2007 -> 07:23 PM) I take back what I said about this ESPN broadcast being refreshing, they have talked about the Yankees 95% of the time. I'd much rather listen to them talk about the Yankees than get every f***ing thing wrong when it comes to the Sox. I could definitely make it through an entire broadcast listening to how big of a disappointment the Yankees are.
  16. QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 4, 2007 -> 07:03 PM) That would mean they knew how to bunt in the first place. I love bunting in the 2nd inning against a very good offense and one of the slowest guys in baseball on 2nd base. Great managing! It's called OzzieBall b****.
  17. That right there was quiet beautiful by Iguchi. It was a big breaking ball that Iguchi stayed back on and just dribbled between Jete and Rod.
  18. QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 4, 2007 -> 06:36 PM) Could Owens or another outfielder have caught Abreu's double? Only Rowand but that's a given. The ball was hit pretty hard and tailing away from CF pretty deep into the gap, I don't think Owens had much of a chance at all.
  19. I would have taken the extra $100M but that's just me.
  20. Hey, looks like we'll actually be able to see this one on ESPN.
  21. QUOTE(WhiteSoxfan1986 @ Jun 4, 2007 -> 06:05 PM) ESPN not blacked out, yyyyyyyyeeeeeeeeessssssssssssss!!!!!!!!!!! The game hasn't started yet, the last time the Sox were on ESPN they didn't black it out until the first pitch.
