  1. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Mar 13, 2007 -> 03:23 PM) Good things its spring training and it has nothing to do with where he is putting him during the reg season. But why the f*** would he do it? Even if it is Spring Training, this accomplishes absolutely nothing. Has Erstad even played CF so far this Spring?
  2. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Mar 13, 2007 -> 03:12 PM) Do you think Tracey will get to throw in this game? 10 bucks says both Kinsler and Young are going down today.
  3. Is Darin Erstad even capable of playing CF?
  4. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Mar 13, 2007 -> 03:01 PM) Somethinf funny, Mr. Lapse? Oh, I think you know.
  5. QUOTE(HeGone33 @ Mar 13, 2007 -> 02:48 PM) I'll leave it up to the Sox organization to decide about Brian, I think they know a thing or two more than us about players. The White Sox organization is FAR from perfect when it comes to personnel moves and all this Rowand talk only makes them look worse. They put all they're eggs in the basket of a 23 year old AAA OF, trading away a guy who some people for whatever reason seem to think is a pretty good player in Aaron Rowand and a potential 30/30 guy/top 12 prospect in all of baseball in Chris Young for a league average pitcher just to clear the way for the 23 year old. And now they're apparently scrambling trying to find a replacement for this failed major leaguer. Second/First guessing this organization when it comes to personnel decisions seems more than reasonable.
  6. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Mar 13, 2007 -> 02:10 PM) What I wish this organization would consider is giving Anderson the full-time position for this season. Then, after 2007 concludes, decide whether he's your future centerfielder based on another year of maturation. If he's not -- pursue Rowand on the open market. He'll be there for the taking. If Anderson has made strides, we're better off remaining patient. Anderson certaintly won't be the deciding factor in our success. There are eight other players on the lineup, including the VAUNTED pitching staff, who should be held accountable before him. Outstanding Flash.
  7. QUOTE(max power @ Mar 13, 2007 -> 07:58 AM) Uh, no. Going into last season we thought cotts and politte were gold. Yeah speak for yourself.
  8. QUOTE(ScottyDo @ Mar 13, 2007 -> 02:05 AM) agreed. he hasn't put together back to back good offensive seasons. so what outfielder on our roster has? erstad has, 5 years ago. sweeney would probably fare about the same as anderson did last year. owens is clearly not ready. i think it's likely that terrero would fare the same as sweeney. My point is, if we have a better option than Pods I'm all for it, but we don't. As a side note, I'd be interested to see how Fields would fare in left field but I don't think it's gonna happen. The only way a guy like Mackowiak is going to 'prove himself' is if he's given a chance in atleast a platoon role which he has yet to be given. The guy has all the tools to be a starter in the majors and I'd say the majority of people who have followed the 2 of them would take Mackowiak over Podsednik in LF next year if for nothing else, the OF defense would be greatly improved.
  9. QUOTE(ScottyDo @ Mar 13, 2007 -> 01:44 AM) has rmack proven he can play everyday in the outfield? I think he's very well suited to the role he's in now. At least pods has been an every day player for a few years, and writing him off as done is sort of strange considering he's only one year removed from a career season in which we (coincidentally?) won the world series I'm still waiting for Podsednik to prove he's an everyday player. Oddly enough he's yet to put together back to back even average offensive seasons, I say offensive because every season of his career has been below average defensively.
  10. QUOTE(ScottyDo @ Mar 13, 2007 -> 12:50 AM) If anybody thinks there's any chance that terrero will be a better option in CF than BA, they're crazy. p.s. what makes anyone think we're better off not having pods? I mean he's not the best LF in the universe but we're definitely not better with him gone and no real replacement Rob Mackowiak is a better baseball player than Scott Podsednik in basically ever way imaginable. Hell IMO he's even cuter than Pods.
  11. EVERYTHING hinges on Scott Podsednik's health. At this moment, this is how I see things. Pods Healthy = Pods, Erstad, Terrero Pods on DL = Erstad, Anderson, Perez God I hope Ozzie is willing to juggle the outfielders.
  12. QUOTE(fathom @ Mar 12, 2007 -> 09:33 PM) The Brian Anderson situation has nothing to do with the posters on here. It all has to do with one man. Jesus? It's Jesus isn't it?
  13. Thome just hit a 500 foot HR over the enormous batter's eye in CF. Farmio is freaking out.
  14. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Mar 12, 2007 -> 04:55 PM) Was it good to send Crede, or was its a Joey Cora special where the ball is at the plate and guy is half way to home. Aardsma gets jacked, 2 run shot. 4 zip Camo Wearer's From the way Farmer described it, it sounded like the throw beat him by a bit. So not quite a Cora special but not a great move by Razor.
  15. If Sammy makes the 40 man roster (which he will, the Rangers are weak in the OF right now) he'll make a base salary of only $500K. He can make a total of $2.2M in performance bonuses throughout the season, most of which having to do with plate appearances. So even if he meets every requirement in his bonuses he'll only make $2.2M in '07. He'll likely make around $1.6-$1.8M this year. With the chance of being a major bargain for the Rangers if someone introduced him to HGH over the past year.
  16. Crede tried to slide around the tag at the plate but failed miserably.
  17. Contreras on the mound. Apparently the B game went poorly today. Coop was pretty pissed. The pitching has been terrible this spring.
  18. The new Sox radio commercials are insanely annoying, the gushing over Erstad being a grinder since birth, I'm cheering for Erstad and all but this grinder s*** is getting out of hand. They also make mention of the 6 fireballers in the pen including Aardsma, Masset and Sisco. 2 of which are likely headed for Charlotte.
  19. Clayton Richards gave it his best shot but failed to severely injure Bobby Jenks yesterday. Clayton made an errant throw that ended up striking Jenks in the neck. He was ok, he actually said being hit in the neck helped him yesterday, it made him stay on the ball longer. http://chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sp...-home-headlines
  20. QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Mar 11, 2007 -> 10:43 PM) I had something kind of cool happen to me today. I met up with the guys on my softball team at the Hitting Zone in Bartlett to have a few rounds of batting practice. On our way out I saw a guy who looked familiar to me and I realized it was Ron Kittle hanging out there, I dont know what for. I went up and shook his hand and he told us some stories about when he played softball in some tournament at a blueberry festival in Indiana, it was pretty funny. He was really cool, chatted with us and wished us luck on our season. Let me guess, you didn't even bother to ask him about Barry Bonds. What the hell is the point of talking to Ron Kittle if you're not going to ask him the Barry Bonds story? Pussy.
