QUOTE(3 BeWareTheNewSox 5 @ Mar 8, 2007 -> 02:54 AM) Badass. Okay, I am a moron, so a few questions. I know TO is team option, BO? And what is the service number? Also, I a friend of mine uses the Google spreadsheet which seems pretty nice since it hosts it online. Just a recc in case if it'd be pain in the ass to do screen captures everytime . Prob can't colorcode it though (well not sure). EDIT: Nevermind, realized that service is number of years in the majors, duh. BO is a buyout.

I'd probably take Sandy Alomar Jr. over Ozzie, but that's more of a 'by default' type of situation.

QUOTE(BearSox @ Mar 7, 2007 -> 10:58 PM) Hell yeah! Being a specialist is much better then being able to consistantly hit .300 in the majors! Any pansy ass b**** can hit .300 at the major league level, hell Mike did it as a 21 year old. He concurred that mountain already, now he's one of the top Tax Specialists in the country. I'm sure he's making 8 figures from Metlife, they're lucky to have him.

QUOTE(BearSox @ Mar 7, 2007 -> 10:54 PM) per wikipedia... Damn straight, making something of himself unlike all you f***ing losers. Tax SPECIALIST b****, SPECIALIST.

QUOTE(CanOfCorn @ Mar 7, 2007 -> 10:45 PM) Two things: Who is Buehrle's agent? And, do you guys think Buehrle is more of a stability guy or a money guy? And when I say stability, I mean, same team, not more years. I think he should go on the open market, UNLESS he loves the White Sox, and sees the team staying competitive for the lifetime of a 3 or 4 year contract. His agent is Jeff Berry.
-
He blows but he'll likely make the team as a 4th OF, sadly.

Anyone who questions Mike Caruso's talent is a f***ing idiot. The man had and likely still has (he's still only 29) all the talent in the world. He played some solid defense his rookie year in 1998 as a 21 year old rookie his defense only slipped the following year in '99 likely because of an unwillingness to improve on his game and some extraciricular activities that may hamper an athletes abilities. Anyone who hits .306 with 22 SBs and an 89 OPS as a 21 year old rookie obviously has some f***ing talent damnit. If he wanted to he could probably earn his way back onto a team as a backup infielder but he's likely a little occupied with other more important dealings in some latin country to work on his game at all.

QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Mar 6, 2007 -> 11:10 PM) Anyone else hitting ALOT of HR's? I've hit 8 through 7 games with Jonny Gomes. Looks like I'm gonna have to adjust some sliders.

QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Mar 6, 2007 -> 10:54 PM) The gameplay is awesome. I am getting better with every game I play, and having alot of fun. However, while the franchise layout is nice, it really is awful. The trade system is terrible, Jose Reyes is playing for the AAA Mets club, and the contract negotiations are garbage. Oh, and Jenks is complaining about his contract, yet, you can only offer extensions to guys with 1 year left on the deal... As you know I agree with all of this. During my Franchise every player who had a year left on their contract took a massive paycut to play for "an aggressive manager like Ozzie Guillen." I just signed Buehlre to a 5 year $25M deal and Crede to a 4 yearr $18M deal, ridiculous. And not just that, there's basically no negotiations at all on this game, the player tells you how much they want and for how long and won't accept anything but that. I tried to sign Preston Wilson as a free agent and he wanted a reasonable $2M but he also demanded a 7 year deal, what the f*** is that?

White Sox reassigned OF Kenny Kelly, RHP Eduardo Sierra and INF Kenny Perez and to minor league camp.

QUOTE(Heads22 @ Mar 6, 2007 -> 07:42 PM) Is it wrong to hope Pods is hurt come opening day so we don't have a Pods-Erstad-Dye OF? As a fellow human? Yes. As a Sox fan? No. Updated for the Vazquez deal: http://img260.imageshack.us/img260/5161/so...actsheetwf9.jpg

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Mar 6, 2007 -> 05:46 PM) How does signing Vazquez for less than he'd get in arbitration mean that the White Sox have less money available? The only way to free up more money would have been to not offer Vazquez arbitration and therefore let him walk with no compensation, at which point we very well might be playing the market for a $12 million a year mediocre starting pitcher somewhere. And if the Sox really want to they could always deal Vazquez after the '08 season to free up some available cash for free agency and this way they'll be trading a player with 3 years left on his deal as opposed to a guy who would only be arb eligible and looking at a $14M deal. I don't see this happening but it's certainly a possibility.
-
The White Sox payroll currently stands at ~$106,100,000 after subtracting the cash from Philadelphia and Arizona it's about $95,767,000. I don't know the exact numbers because the pre-arb player contracts weren't released and we still don't know exactly who will be on the 25 man roster come Opening Day so the numbers are actually a little higher than this.

QUOTE(TitoMB345 @ Mar 6, 2007 -> 04:41 PM) Green or no? That's for you to decide.

QUOTE(bulokis @ Mar 6, 2007 -> 04:32 PM) I dont like Vazquez at all. He has the talent but has not lived up to it. I dont know what he did to get the extension and be a Sox for 3 more years. We always here KW and Ozzie say that they will keep players that performs and let underachievers go. Buerhle deserves to be with the sox for 3 more years other than Vazquez because Mark has perform well for us. But if this would help trading him in the near future having a deal done then I would agree. Otherwise, that's money not well spent after KW b****ing about the market. Well if you want to get all technical and s*** Vazquez was better than Buehrle last season and got less than half of what Buehrle is going to get in his next deal.

QUOTE(StatManDu @ Mar 6, 2007 -> 04:29 PM) Agreed. There is just no enthusiasm, no life. Very condescending. The Sox should really go after Rex Hudler. I think putting a coke crazed madman along side Hawk could be comedic gold, once you get past the whole Rex Hudler being a complete moron thing.
-
QUOTE(TitoMB345 @ Mar 6, 2007 -> 04:25 PM) I dont get it. Vazquez is being paid more than Garland now, when Garland is >>> than Vazquez. It's because Kenny Williams is a f***ing idiot and needs to be s*** canned immediately.

Sox lose . . . again.

QUOTE(Reddy @ Mar 6, 2007 -> 04:05 PM) Zambrano could do it on a good team, same could be said about Oswalt. oh and by the way, its not like guys with that many wins come along every ten seconds like you're seeming to suggest Not to mention Zito, Sabathia and Mulder (if he can somehow get healthy and quick)
-
I've said it before and I'll say it again Mark Buehlre will not be signing with the Cardinals this offseason, for a few reasons. It would be a HUGE mistake and he knows it. Pitchers his age fall flat on their face more often than not when leaving to play for their hometown team, just too many distractions.
-
QUOTE(robinventura23 @ Mar 6, 2007 -> 03:57 PM) should've used that money for Mark. Hopefully, there's incentives in there for Javy getting to the 7th inning. $34M isn't even half of what Mark is going to get.
