QUOTE(knightni @ Sep 12, 2006 -> 02:30 PM) South Side > The Bronx

Interesting that graphic on the right side where you select a team, the Stadium pictured is the Cell as well.

QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Sep 12, 2006 -> 11:02 AM) Also, pointblank, a guy can be 20/15, and that isn't gonna help him draw walks. That's just going to help him see better. Eyesight ≠walks This is true, pitch recognition has a lot more to do with walk totals than actual eyesight does.

QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Sep 12, 2006 -> 12:56 PM) I disagree, and a month ago, you did, too. "Mental midget!" We'll see how it goes. It'll all be Ozzie's choices, anyway. I'm confused as to how you disagree with the statistics. MONTH ERA WHIP BAA IP/GS April: 3.67 0.93 .211 6.75 May: 3.99 1.23 .243 6.39 June: 7.50 1.77 .338 6.00 July: 6.82 1.55 .297 6.07 Aug: 3.41 1.27 .239 6.17 Sept: 1.80 0.80 .137 7.50 Last 8 Starts: ERA WHIP K:BB 2.94 1.13 50:18 Over his last 8 starts Javy has been outstanding, what is there to disagree with there? Garcia is a bad pitcher and Buehrle has been pretty brutal over the past 3 months and hasn't been able to find an ounce of consistency. The playoffs are all about "what have you done for me lately" and as of right now Buehrle and Garcia are the odd men out. If you go to a 4 man then Buehrle should definately be used but I really wouldn't want him going anywhere near the first 2 games of any series, you need to set a tone and Buehrle is not the man for the job.

QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Sep 12, 2006 -> 12:47 PM) I don't ultimately trust that he'll keep it up this year, I'd rather have a good option in case of a game where we need to replace our starter, and, yeah. Keep what up? The guy had 2 horrendous months, he's actually been very good more often than he's been very bad. The same can not be said for Buehrle and Garcia. When going into the playoffs you want your hottest pitchers taking the bump for you like the Sox did with Contreras last year. Vazquez is white hot right now.

QUOTE(qwerty @ Sep 12, 2006 -> 12:29 AM) I do not even see this as a debate. Jim thome has a an ops of 1.207 with risp this season. Frank thomas has an ops of .968 with risp this season. Does it surprise any that thomas has 22 home runs with no one on? Compared to his 14 with a runner on. Thome has 21 with runners on compared to his 18 with no one on. I always hear people complain that thome is not clutch and such. Thomas has 706 ops in close and late situations (50 ab's) compared to thome' s .900 ops (60ab's). If you really want to complain about thome... you can point to his .250 average with no one on (still not a bad .915 ops). His s***ty .540 slugging in that situation would currently have him tied for 25 in all of baseball with grady sizemore. Thomas was never coming back. It is plain and simple. We were obviously not picking up his contract. He would have never come back... do you think he would ever accept a 500k deal from the sox? He would have felt a team that he did so much for (he made a couple bucks along the way when he was injured... yet he forgets such things) should stick by his side and pay up. He has always thought he was underpaid and off-season would have been no different. I highly doubt either side was ever close this off-season.

ESPN carries on the tradition of s***ty Monday Night Football. This is just brutal.

OFFENSIVE EXPLOSION!!1

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Sep 11, 2006 -> 11:28 PM) Well the Raiders offensive line is playing one of the worst games I've ever seen. The Chargers on the other hand refuse to throw the ball. Yep, Merriman now has 3 sacks and Philip Rivers has attempted all of 9 passes and they have run the ball 42 times. BORING!
-
This game is at a standstill. NO OFFENSE AT ALL.

QUOTE(Brian @ Sep 11, 2006 -> 10:20 PM) Philip Rivers showing why SD let Brees go. Making some real nice throws. Tomlinson runs for 100 yards...and there is still 7 mins til halftime. Ladanian is picking up the tough yards too, if they give him an ounce of daylight he's taking it right at 'em. He's showing why he's the best in the business at what he does. With 6 minutes to go in the 2nd quarter the Raiders have 19 total yards, that's 21 rushing yards and -2 passing. Lamont Jordan has 7 carries for 11 yards.

Team W L T PCT Chicago 1 0 0 1.000 Minnesota 1 0 0 1.000 Detroit 0 1 0 .000 Green Bay 0 1 0 .000 Could be worse I guess.

Frank just put one out. He has now homered in 6 straight games.
-
Santana Moss is every bit as good as Steve Smith with only half the hype.
-
QUOTE(MSHAWKS @ Sep 11, 2006 -> 06:19 PM) Well, as I've said, one is leading his team to the playoffs and the other is leading his team to a third place finish. That makes more sense than anything I've ever heard. EVER.
-
I would rather not have gone into the season with a 38 year old DH who had been slowed to a crawl for the past few seasons due to his foot which is not a good injury for a 280 pound man. Also, if you want to keep Frank then you're going to have to fire Kenny Williams and Ozzie Guillen, there ain't a chance in hell those 3 could have coexisted this season.

QUOTE(soxhawks @ Sep 10, 2006 -> 07:32 PM) Is it off the air? I feel like a part of me is missing Hey the 2 of us are in similar situations then because a piece of me dies everytime I hear Chris Berman's voice.

QUOTE(Steff @ Sep 11, 2006 -> 11:13 AM) OK.. can ya find the link that states the flax seed - what Barry admitted to using - does the same? HGH is an entirely different animal, and along WITH a steriod regimine may improve eyesite. Flax seed basically does nothing, it is not a steroid it's a simple natural supplement. And it never said that you must combine HGH with a steroid remimine to improve eyesight, it just said that's what Giambi admitted to doing. As that paragraph says HGH alone has the ability to improve eyesight.
-
QUOTE(Steff @ Sep 11, 2006 -> 10:53 AM) I'm going to guess those who have done the research. There is evidence that they speed up recovery from eye surgery, but not that they make normal eyesight better. Just doing a quick search on the net this is really the only online evidence I can find. But there is evidence that HGH can improve eyesight, since human growth hormone promotes the growth of vital organs including the eyes. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/7286234/site/newsweek/page/2/

QUOTE(Heads22 @ Sep 11, 2006 -> 10:26 AM) And I'm sorta happy the Bears won, both cause I had them in Pick'em and my fantasy team has the Bears D. Do you feel as dirty as I do now after saying that? Peyton Manning has a freakishly long neck, it's disturbing. He has now passed Chris Bosh and Mark Prior for most brontosaurus like athlete.

QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Sep 10, 2006 -> 08:32 PM) What's with all the Chad Tracy love? His numbers this year look similar to Crede's before 2006. Chad Tracy ~ Aaron Rowand offensively
-
YEAH SIMPSONS!!! Oh wait, it's 2006. I'd rather jab myself in the eye a few times with a rusty screwdriver.
-
heh Chad Tracey.

This would be a good time for Shaun Alexander to become a good running back again.
