  1. QUOTE(Contreras @ Jun 22, 2006 -> 12:26 AM) Is that right, Mr. Wizard? http://chicago.whitesox.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb...t=.jsp&c_id=cws He's mainly faced lefties this season, I'm not surprised he said that but I really don't buy it. If that is why he's serving his suspension then Ozzie is even dumber than I thought.
  2. QUOTE(rangercal @ Jun 22, 2006 -> 12:20 AM) The point is, he has not been calling it all the time. That is where the communication problem lies. I disagree but whatever. To be totally honest I was never real high on his as a prospect, as a matter of fact I really didn't see him as much until he actually got here and I got a chance to see him play everyday, he's totally grown on me. I am about as impartial as it comes concerning Sox players and I gotta say the only problem I've had with his defense is his missing cutoff man, other than that he's been pretty remarkable out there.
  3. QUOTE(rangercal @ Jun 22, 2006 -> 12:14 AM) Don't know if you are watching the same games I am. But Brian has had more than one bad game. 1 day its throwing to the wrong cutoff man, the next it is his lack of comunication when the ball is by him and another fielder. Brian is the damn CF, if he calls for the ball it's Dye's/Pods'/Ozuna's job to get the f*** out of the way. Everytime there has been a situation where Brian has cut in front of someone for a ball or knocked into them on the catch he has yelled for the ball but the RF/LF didn't retreat. The SS/CF always has the right to the ball. I will give you the cutoff man problem but I do not think it's as prevelant has you make it seem.
  4. Well, Edmonds is 36 and has been injured for a good portion of the season, I'm not all that surprised by his lack of production this season. Tex on the other hand is 26 and has had just about no history of injury, it's suspicious to say the least.
  5. QUOTE(rangercal @ Jun 22, 2006 -> 12:07 AM) Brian makes way Too many mental errors for me to be happy with his D. His mental Lapses cost the sox a lot of bases this year. I'm not saying rowand was perfect in that department. He was way superior to Brian though. So if you can change the poll who would you rather have out there in center, with NO regard to offense , or decision making. I just might pick BA. Are you cereal? Brian had like 1 bad game out there this season other than that the only real problem he's had this season is with hitting the cutoff man. I love Rowand and all but Anderson is far superior defensively.
  6. QUOTE(rangercal @ Jun 22, 2006 -> 12:05 AM) great name for our lineup http://www.forums.mlb.com/n/mb/message.asp...g=55943.1&ctx=0 That's actually pretty damn solid.
  7. Rowand misplayed a ball in CF today, the Yankee announcers commented that his defense seemed much better last year and then went onto give him some love for his sick defensive series that he had Vs dem Yanks last season.
  8. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jun 21, 2006 -> 11:06 PM) That's really buggin you, isnt it? A lot of things bug me, this just happens to fit into a few different categories of pissoffableness.
  9. QUOTE(SoxAce @ Jun 21, 2006 -> 11:04 PM) Damn we PWN the Cards. Just saw the score and I was... :o again!!! Damn you and your inaccurate sig.
  10. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Jun 21, 2006 -> 11:01 PM) I would say a healthy Cards (if they ever can get healthy) would be the threat, but after seeing 2 of their 3 "best starters", I have to rescind that thought, even with them in the NL. That's what I'm saying, their starting rotation is nothing special and their lineup is no where near that of the Mets. The only teams worth a damn in the NL would be the Mets and Cards and IMO the Mets are the stronger of the two.
  11. QUOTE(ZoomSlowik @ Jun 21, 2006 -> 10:48 PM) Tom Glavine is their #2 starter. He's got a great resume, but he's simply not that good anymore. If he's not getting the old 6-inches outside he's toast just like Maddux. They're not a real threat in the long run unless they add a front of the rotation starter. Which team is a threat then? I'm not talking about in the WS, just to get there.
  12. Childishness is in style this season.
  13. I'm pretty sure all the money they make off the fantasy packages goes to White Sox charities, is it really that hard to endure a squeeky little voice for 2 innings if that money is going to a great cause?
  14. Yes, the NL is incredibly weak. I never said it had to make any sense, the Mets play in an incredibly large market and are the best team in their league, they're going to get a s*** load of play on ESPN. I like the Cards and all but there's just something about them that is always so disturbing to me, I look up and down their roster and wonder how the hell they're as good as they are, I don't really see that lineup or pitching staff as being overly dominant yet they find ways to win. I think that's more of an indication of just how good they play as a team. IMO, the Mets are the toast of a very pathetic league, even with a pretty weak backend of the rotation.

QUOTE(beautox @ Jun 21, 2006 -> 09:44 PM) Yea that trade by Hendry was in response to Scott Podsednik and the need to do a trade just for the sake of trading, another funny note is that Jacuqe Jones while doing alright, shouldn't have been signed they could've kept Patterson for 1/3 of his price. For as much as Jones has done at the plate he's pretty much made up for it with his absolutely horrid work in RF, he has no arm, it just disappeared over the offseason.
  16. Far and away the best team in the NL and they happen to play in the largest market in America. Why the hell would they get any sort of news coverage?
  17. QUOTE(Contreras @ Jun 21, 2006 -> 08:43 PM) His suspension comes with four of the games being against righties. That'd be why. That's really not why at all. That would be like reason number 10 of why they would drop the appeal. The guy has been playing against righties of late (though they have hit a streak of all lefties) and for his career he is much better against righties. Funny how the 5 game suspension will begin to be served 5 games before we go to NL parks.
  18. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Jun 21, 2006 -> 02:33 PM) That's not saying much. Do you have any idea how many sports humor blogs there are? Hundreds, literally hundereds.
  19. You don't want to be short a man when playing games in National League ballparks, you need as deep a bench as possible, plus you're going to want your best defense out there. This is absolutely perfect timing and it really makes me think that they've been planning to do this all along.
  20. QUOTE(SnB @ Jun 21, 2006 -> 12:40 PM) while we're at it, today's dugout is dedicated to last night's game. http://www.progressiveboink.com/dugout/arc...out6-20-06.html Seriously the best baseball humor site EVAR.
  21. QUOTE(WCSox @ Jun 21, 2006 -> 12:29 PM) Interesting. That would certainly be bad news for us. They have an $82.6 million payroll and would have to pick up about $4.5-5 million of Smoltz's contract. Will Illich spend the money? That would be amazing news for the Sox, I'd do f***ing cartwheels of joy if such a trade were to take place. A 21 year old fireballing, dominant, future/current hella stud scares me a whole hell of a lot more than a 39 year old, slightly above average, incredibly expensive pitcher. To be totally honest, Zumaya would probably put up better numbers in the starting rotation this year than Smoltz would. I really don't see why the Tigers would want to make such a deal.
  22. QUOTE(SoxAce @ Jun 21, 2006 -> 01:07 AM) Is that a picture of you on your avatar..? Wow, you've really f***ed up this time. It is not "authoritay", it's "authoritah". If you're going to do it, do it right.
  23. The replay of tonights game is now starting on Comcast, it is in HD where available, hella sweet.
