  1. I'm going to mention his name just because I have much man love for him, Mike Gonzalez (even though he's a lefty) would be so f***ing great in the Sox' pen right now. He's not leaving Pitt any time soon (free agent after '09) but I can still have my odd fantasies.
  2. QUOTE(greg775 @ Jun 8, 2006 -> 12:34 AM) Jose too. Why not Freddie? FREDDY. 4.56 ERA, 1.33 WHIP, .274 BAA 46K, 18BB. That's incredibly pedestrian. If Freddy goes then I demand Kris Benson and John Koronka also get bids.
  3. QUOTE(MHizzle85 @ Jun 8, 2006 -> 12:33 AM) What did he say about Grimsley? Basically that what Grimsley did (ratting out his fellow ballplayers) was wrong simply because you're supposed to look out for the other players in the league. Which is just a stupid comment to make. Instead of taking the oppertunity to rip Grimsley for using and distributing HGH he goes ahead and rips him for ratting out other cheating pricks.
  4. QUOTE(beautox @ Jun 8, 2006 -> 12:33 AM) Jose? More so than Freddy unless of course you have a fetish for average starting pitchers.
  5. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jun 8, 2006 -> 12:21 AM) He's never actually thrown it in a game but he's fooled around with one before, that is what Kalapse is referring to. Don't speak for me b**** . . . yeah that's what I meant.
  6. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jun 8, 2006 -> 12:18 AM) Would you offer Joe Crede and prospects for Miggy, if a deal could get done there? It's such a tough decision, Crede is so f***ing great defensively (no matter what some believe) that it'd be tough to lose a glove like his but adding another 1.000 OPS to the lineup would make this one of the greatest batting orders in the history of baseball. yes, yes I would
  7. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Jun 7, 2006 -> 10:23 PM) Papelbon (by far, he's been unreal) and Ryan (who Bobby has more saves than) are the only AL closers ahead of him on the depth chart right now IMO, so I think he'll go. Rivera is a shoe in plus Nathan despite the low save total is having a great year (better all around stats than Jenks) also Wickman could very well be the only rep for the Indians again this year with Varitek, Mauer and possibly Hernandez/Posada taking up the all the catcher spots and Sabathia being to fat to fly to Pitt.
  8. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Jun 8, 2006 -> 12:13 AM) He's getting bigger because of food and I don't know if he has the work ethic to get into the weight room....he's known to be a bit lazy. But the thing is with him is he could roll out of bed and have a .320/35/110 split, so if he ever does get a work ethic (or Jason Grimsley's number /obligatory), 45 or fitty large could be possible, especially once he gets out of Florida. What the fatass comment wasn't enough for you? I do agree about the work ethic the f***er is a carbon copy of young Manny, he has the tools to be a much better defensive player than Manny could ever dream to be its a shame he'll probably end up weighing like 300 pounds if he stays in Miami. The second he hits free agency however, expect a Mannyesque contract, I'm sure that would be incentive enough for him to learn how to run a f***ing treadmill.
  9. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Jun 8, 2006 -> 12:07 AM) He doesn't have that kind of power, even if you were to get him out of Florida...... The guy he reminds me sooooo much of is a young Man Ram, right down to the occasional chubby build, lack of hustle, and bizarre streaks of horrid defense mixed with a few great plays. But man can they hit. Miguel Cabrera is already getting bigger and the second he gets his fatass into the weight room he will be hitting 40 HRs per season.
  10. Wow, that Cuddyer grand slam in the top of the 8th with the Twins down 5 to 9 in Seattle sure was unexpected. Very nice piece of woodwork on that one.
  11. QUOTE(chitownsportsfan @ Jun 8, 2006 -> 12:01 AM) God Cabrera would look good in black and white. I've been on his bandwagon since last spring, and the thing just keeps picking up steam. I've been on his bandwagon since he was a top prospect in the Marlins org. Early on in '03. The guy is an absolute stud, he's well on his way to Albert Pujols like status especially with the new and improved OBP that he's featuring this year. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Jun 8, 2006 -> 12:02 AM) They are going to want a king's ransom....and I'm not sure we have the firepower to get it done. We don't have enough but just for fun I'd probably offer up our entire minor league system for him.
  12. QUOTE(tealeafreaderii @ Jun 7, 2006 -> 11:56 PM) this is just a rumor from Murphy on 670... but he said... that BMac for eyre and Howry is a possibility... No that's Murph pulling s*** out of his ass again, there ain't a chance in hell I do that trade. The guy just makes up trades that improve his Cubbies, he's f***ing delusional. What the hell has Scott Eyre proven in the AL anyway?
  13. QUOTE(Dam8610 @ Jun 7, 2006 -> 11:55 PM) Pitches I've seen Bobby throw: 95-102 MPH fastball 94-98 MPH cutter 87-91 MPH slider 83-86 MPH curveball The slider is supposidly just a tighter curve that looks similar to a slider. I think when you're dealing with a guy like Jenks, it's nearly impossible to identify all of his pitches.
  14. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Jun 7, 2006 -> 11:39 PM) Not surprising at all....and after hearing his comments today on Grimsley, I'm glad he won't be playing in our uniform anymore. Hmm, I find myself agreeing with you on this one.
  15. Figured I'd bump this thread for a damn good reason, with his 2-3 (1HR, 1BB) night Jermaine Dye has now shot up the list of top OPS' in baseball all the way up to #2 behind Albert "god" Pujols who is not currently active. So for the national media I just have 1 thing to say, jump on this guys back he's currently THE BEST HITTER IN BASEBALL! 1.099 OPS is just sick. RNK NAME POS HR RBI OPS 1.) Albert Pujols 1B 25 65 1.193 CARDINALS 2.) Jermaine Dye OF 18 43 1.099 WHITE SOX 3.) Jim Thome DH 21 53 1.092 WHITE SOX 4.) Jason Giambi 1B 16 47 1.089 YANKEES 5.) Travis Hafner DH 16 51 1.070 INDIANS 6.) Jason Bay OF 18 49 1.056 PIRATES 7.) Miguel Cabrera 3B 9 43 1.014 MARLINS 8.) Vernon Wells OF 15 46 1.006 BLUE JAYS 9.) Alex Rios OF 11 43 1.004 BLUE JAYS 10.) Manny Ramirez OF 14 37 .996 RED SOX Sure is interesting seeing 2 Sox hitters in the top 3 in baseball.
  16. He also throws a regular knuckleball. It's a shame he doesn't have total confidence in all his pitches. Usually you'll see him throw his 95-101MPH fastball, his hard breaking curve, his tighter less breaking curve and his cut fastball.

    Crede

QUOTE(shoota @ Jun 7, 2006 -> 11:00 PM) Great point about the subjective nature of errors. I brought up the same point last season over at WSI. For your own enlightenment, you can search my posts that listed Crede's misplays that weren't recorded as errors--something I termed "unofficial errors." Maybe you should stick to WSI.
  18. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Jun 7, 2006 -> 10:47 PM) Only if Widger is with him. Those two are the centerpiece of my dreams. Just a damn shame they never got to play on the same team. Could you imagine a collision at the plate between those two? That would be too much for me to handle, actually I think I had a dream like that once, of course there were no clothes involved in that one and it wasn't so much of a collision more of a playful scuffle . . . in a kiddy pool full of rubbing oil.
  19. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Jun 7, 2006 -> 10:18 PM) Yes, a mod with a vendetta saying cheers to a personal attack, how mature. I hope your internet banter and cleverness makes you feel good about yourself. Oh, and as I said Thome is still a great player and our 2nd most valuable player at the moment, however I want to see him get a runner home from 3rd with 1 out. However apparently that is too much to ask. With a runner on 3rd and 1 out on the season Jim Thome is 5-9 w/ one 2B, two HRs, 13 RBIs, two BBs and a 1.833 OPS. How is that not good enough for you?

    Crede

QUOTE(shoota @ Jun 7, 2006 -> 10:11 PM) I certainly do not have more knowledge of the game of baseball than Steve Stone, but it's likely that I've seen more White Sox games with Joe Crede at third base than Stone has. And he's seen far more of action from other 3B in baseball than you have. I'm sure he's seen his fair share of White Sox games since Crede took over the hot corner, he does work for the Score as a primarily Cubs/Sox analyst. I think I'll put more stock into his evaluation of Crede defensively.

    Crede

QUOTE(3RDBASE @ Jun 7, 2006 -> 10:11 PM) You never watch Espn or any highlights? I guess your right...Dumb DJ fire that idiot and trade Crede because he is proving himself worthless! :rolly It's awful hard to judge a thirdbaseman's defensive ability by watching highlights on ESPN.
  22. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Jun 7, 2006 -> 08:47 PM) JOSE VALENTIN?! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO I would NEVER say such a thing! Jose uses pure Latin gusto to hit his homeruns, the guy just has a naturally ripped body that is the centerpiece of my dreams.
  23. Kalapse

    Crede

Well, according to a guy who is considered one of the best minds when it comes to the game of baseaball Joe Crede is the best defensive 3B in the league. But I'm sure you know more than Steve Stone.
  24. QUOTE(greg775 @ Jun 7, 2006 -> 09:51 PM) Yeah, punch him in the face for showing some balls and immediately getting on base after making a rare error and scoring the eventual winning run and letting Jose still get the win. Crede is a stud. I'm impressed he came right back and got on base instead of popping up. That is the sign of a gamer. He's not perfect ... shoot him. 7 errors is not rare.
