  1. Grimsley was just released by the Diamondbacks. This thing is going to get so good.
  2. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jun 7, 2006 -> 02:26 PM) Please Ozzie...don't get Tracey work at the expense of McCarthy. Hopefully the DL stint helps Clifford. Maybe get a few MPH back with some rest. Well, Ozzie did state yesterday that Brandon is his new right handed setup man and I doubt Tracey gets any time in any close and late situations.
  3. QUOTE(Beastly @ Jun 7, 2006 -> 02:21 PM) Cliche. Oh, and while we're at it, lets see if this guys ERA balloons a bit more than Montero. Why not call the rest of these quote end quote prospects up... Montero was never called a prospect by the Sox. He's 28 and had previous ML experience.

  5. QUOTE(Sox1422 @ Jun 7, 2006 -> 01:43 PM) Sean Tracey was the call up according to the Score. This should be incredibly interesting if true.

  7. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Jun 7, 2006 -> 01:25 PM) He still had no chance at it and did a full extended dive when it was not needed. And although Dye was in the picture you never know how the ball could have bounced off the wall. It would have been smarter to play it off the wall instead of trying to get up off the ground. It almost seemed like a dive just for the sake of diving. Perhaps to somehow show that he's putting forth the extra effort, overcompensating for his offensive struggles. Or maybe he just thought he had a chance if he gave it an all out full extention dive. I doubt there was any hidden agenda to an attempted diving catch.
  8. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Jun 6, 2006 -> 06:57 PM) -Suspiria -Session 9 -The Gate -Angel Heart -Dead/Alive -Fright Night -Jacobs Ladder -Candyman ( I know this is well-known, but people often don't give it credit) -Don't Look Now -Full Circle -The Beyond -Videodrome All I have for now. Yes, this is an absolutely amazing movie, it's so sad that so many people have never seen it. It's the only horror movie that ever actually made me uneasy when I saw it for the first time. So well done.
  9. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Jun 7, 2006 -> 01:08 PM) For those who were screaming for his head two weeks into the season, I'd agree that was panic. But here in mid-June, saying he may need to be sent down soon if he can't stay above .150, is pretty reasonable if you ask me. I should have added the word "LATELY". Sorry. And its a few games, not one inning. But he was certainly looking quite good until late May or so (I missed the games the last week of May, though). Well, I've seen every game this year and tend to pay close attention to his defense and all I can recall is the one game agains the Rangers where he really struggled in the OF. Even then he wasn't making horrible plays just brain cramps that he normally would not do. The guy barely plays every other day so it's not all that easy for him to get into any kind of groove in the OF or in the box but from what I've seen he's still been stellar in the OF excluding one game.
  10. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Jun 7, 2006 -> 01:05 PM) You really think its that simple? Anderson has lost his mental strength. Look at him. His defense, once stellar, is now looking confused. He is hitting less than a lot of pitchers. He isn't just a struggling rookie - he is a MIGHTILY struggling rookie, who if he continues down this road, will no longer be helping his career by staying at the ML level. He needs to reset and restart at AAA. He has a few bad plays in one inning of one game and now he looks confused in the OF? I totally disagree with that.
  11. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Jun 7, 2006 -> 12:49 PM) Meh, with Ozuna as a 4th OF and Gload 5th, the team would be fine. You don't really need 6 deep in the OF. The only problem with that is Mack is only a corner OF, Ozuna is an infielder and Gload is a firstbaseman. That's an OF that's barely 3 deep.
  12. QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Jun 7, 2006 -> 12:27 PM) better than Anderson, and D better than Mack... it's an upgrade, and that's all we can ask for. Plus, you wouldn't have to deal Anderson or BMac in this deal. That's what I figure, even if he has a tough time adapting to the superior brand of ball he can't be as bad as Anderson.
  13. QUOTE(YASNY @ Jun 7, 2006 -> 12:22 PM) He would also be able to step into the leadoff spot when Ozzie decides to play the Sunday line up. Exactly, the only thing that worries me is his switching from the NL to the AL in the middle of the season. Over his 8 year career he's played for 3 different NL teams and finally becomming a good every day player when finally landing with the Brewers in '03 at the age of 30. Could he handle the American League?
  14. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jun 7, 2006 -> 12:19 PM) And as we all know, the Brewers and White Sox have a good recent trading history. And the brewers probably wouldn't mind getting a little bit younger. What is Clark's contract status? He's signed through next year, he makes $3M this year and will make $3.8M next year. The guy is right handed and is 33. Have you ever seen a better fit?
  15. He is far superior to Mack defensively, the guy can play both RF and CF well with a terrific arm and good range. He'd be a second leadoff hitter at the bottom of the lineup (not much power but a very high OBP and above average BA). Brady Clark really is the best fit of any name that has been thrown you there yet.
  16. QUOTE(POPPY_HIDALGO @ Jun 7, 2006 -> 12:14 PM) It doesn't take much to demoralize Detroit. There season is officially over. The imminent sweep by the White Sox will be the final nail in their coffin. I hope they enjoyed it while it lasted. The Sox are getting ready to really hit all cylinders and when they do, no one in the American League is safe. You seriously scare the hell out of me.
  17. w/RISP: Thome - (19-43), 7HR, 33RBI, .442/.571/1.000/1.571 Dye - (17-44), 7HR, 31RBI, .386/.482/.909/1.391 w/RISP & 2 outs: Thome - (6-18), 2HR, 8RBI, .333/.429/.667/1.095 Dye - (11-24), 4HR, 18RBI, .458/.581/.958/1.539 They're incredibly similar w/ RISP but Dye is far superior w/ RISP & 2 outs though he does have more chances.
  18. Tampa get Rocco and Cantu back at relatively the same time, look out Yankees here come the Devil Rays.
  19. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Jun 7, 2006 -> 11:38 AM) But one thing Pods IS doing this year better than last, even in his slump, is taking walks. At least, it appears that way. This is true, even with his recent struggles he's still kept a pretty high OBP, .360 as of right now which is very respectable especially cosidering just how low his batting average is.
  20. QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 7, 2006 -> 11:22 AM) True, but he's such a piece of s***....I wish nothing but the worst for him. He was a fraud. You know you loved it when he did his little kissy thing to the camera after hitting a homerun, it's so damn cute.
  21. Well, seeing how he's currently one of the top offensive players in the game and actually plays defense unlike a most of the others who are up there offensively with him, I'd say Dye has to be the most deserving.
  22. QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 7, 2006 -> 11:08 AM) There's a certain former teammate, rumored to be from last year, that's now living in Florida who he ratted out. Sound familiar to anyone.....the guy's supposed to have a short name. Seems somewhat pointless ratting him out. I think it's become public knowledge that he was quite juicy for a good portion of his career.
  23. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jun 7, 2006 -> 11:08 AM) Speaking of Pods, his average is definitely on the downswing right now. I agree. Ozzie also thinks Mack is a better LF than Pods. He has been pretty bad of late, hell his batting average is down 25 points since May 28th and 42 points since May 15th.
  24. QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 7, 2006 -> 11:00 AM) The best thing that could happen for Anderson is to be sent back to the minors. He's not going to get enough at-bats at the MLB level to get in a rhythm. He's absolutely clueless at the plate, and facing mediocre pitching in the minors might help him get his confidence back up. I'm going to make the prediction that on Wednesday, Pods and Ozuna will be in LF/CF. And that will once and for all show all that Podsednik is absolutely brutal in CF, hopefully ending any Pods/CF love that may still be out there.
  25. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Jun 7, 2006 -> 10:55 AM) What is your reason for not bringing up Sweeney? At this point in his career, it seems likely he'd come up in the fall on the 40-man callup anyway. So the clock may not be too big an issue (maybe by a year, if you think he isn't up until 2007). If the guy can play reasonably good D in CF (at least on par with Mack, hopefully a bit better), then I think its a good idea. Well, Sweeney is primarily a RF and has just this year begun to play some CF, after a few weeks out there he tweaked his hammy landing him on the DL for a good amount of time. He was just recently reactivated and as noted before he's now playing more in RF and hardly at all in CF. It sounds pretty telling to me but I guess it could be looked at a few different ways.
