The funny thing is, this guy will probably never post again. He goes through the trouble of signing up and posting his ridiculous comparisons then never returns. Seems somwhat cowardly.

It doesn't always matter who you play but when you play them.

QUOTE(Texsox @ May 25, 2006 -> 07:00 PM) Past behavior should be part of the equation and if that means AJ had a shorter leash, then I would be a hypocrit for disagreeing. What has AJ ever done in the past to warrant a short leash? The guy has never had anger issues or any problems with the league office. Just because the man is an irritant to opponents does not mean he should serve a suspension for doing absolutely nothing. If you really want someone to have a short leesh you should take a look at Barrett who has had serious anger issues in the past. It's bulls*** that people continue to bring up AJ's "past" as a reason why he should serve a suspension when he's never had any issues that are relevant to this incident.

QUOTE(Cuck the Fubs @ May 25, 2006 -> 06:49 PM) You can for BP. Once the game starts, you have to leave. You can't be in the dugout or clubhouse. I'm sure you could watch the game from the stands on a ticket, though. Actually suspended players normally go up to the press box or a suite during the games, if they stay at the stadium at all. QUOTE(mr_genius @ May 25, 2006 -> 06:53 PM) he better get more than 10 games if not i lose $10 on a bet. c'mon MLB, 11 games suspension atleast! Bad bet.

QUOTE(RockRaines @ May 25, 2006 -> 06:36 PM) Why does everyone knob Bonderman? Why is he so great that his ERA doesnt show it? Maybe it's because ERA doesn't always tell the whole story, the guy has really only had 2.5 bad starts all year coupled with the fact that he's 23 and has sick stuff.

QUOTE(WCSox @ May 25, 2006 -> 05:04 PM) I wouldn't say that... Sabathia > Rogers Westbrook > Bonderman Lee > Maroth Now Maroth appears to be injured and they might have to rely on Verlander's young, unconditioned arm to pitch at a high level in September. Given that Rogers also tends to bite it down the stretch, I like Cleveland's chances. The Tigers will learn that lesson when they face the Yankees and both Sox teams in the next couple of weeks. Shelton and Maggs aren't going to shell Mussina, Schilling, Beckett, Count, and Buehrle like they do Royals pitching. I don't know about that one Lee might be better than Bonderman but no way Westbrook is. Also Verlander is probably better than Westbrook too but he's only a rookie so you just don't know how he'll hold up over the long haul of the season.

QUOTE(NYSox35 @ May 25, 2006 -> 04:33 PM) I just thought I'd share this funny pic of Soxtalk's two former favorite whipping boys, Marte and Timo. http://static.flickr.com/53/142894073_04d1d2c2d8_o.jpg There is absolutely nothing sexy about Damaso marte.

QUOTE(Tony82087 @ May 25, 2006 -> 04:18 PM) If you go to any other teams message boards around this time last year, and they are saying the EXACT same thing about the Sox. Im jumping on the Tiger bandwagon. Its going to be a battle in the Central this year, but if the Sox play the way there can, everything will work out just fine.. Except for the fact that the Sox did not come out of nowhere, they were consistent as hell going into '05. They've been a .500/2nd place team forever and just took the next step. Where as the Tigers would have to go from complete suckitude to greatness, they were one of the worst teams of all time just a few years ago, now they're the best team in baseball? I don't think so, check the countdown in my sig, that's the end for the Tigers.

QUOTE(DABearSoX @ May 25, 2006 -> 04:11 PM) Of god...the wave at the sox game yesterday pissed me off so bad.......stupid ass people cheering for the wave totally unaware of what the hell was going on in the game... Preaching to the choir. http://www.soxtalk.com/forums/index.php?s=...dpost&p=1147347

QUOTE(BigSqwert @ May 25, 2006 -> 04:03 PM) Top of the order for the Royals!! Hope the fans aren't doing the wave. They may miss an exciting ending. I'm actually for doing the wave if there's only 1,200 people there, at that point it's so pathetic that it's hillarious.

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ May 25, 2006 -> 04:04 PM) Think I can pitch for the Royals? They're not that bad.

QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ May 25, 2006 -> 03:54 PM) SF1. Actually he's a lot more like Timo than Barrett.

QUOTE(JimH @ May 25, 2006 -> 11:13 AM) Oh and one last one off the top of my head, Maxwell St. Depot at 31st and Canal. How did I forget this one. Hot dogs, pork chop sandwiches, very convenient to the park, fries are almost always really greasy though but I guess that's part of the charm. Also it's open 24 hrs. so it's a great place to grab some cheap grub after the game. Just about every game I go to I stop off at Maxwell St. Depot for a pork chop sandwhich, an A&W root beer and some fries and eat it in the parking lot, it's practically tradition at this point.

QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ May 25, 2006 -> 03:32 PM) I can certainly see some tidbits that were never discussed, because they weren't exactly thread-worthy. I know I've done it. Same here, that's why the White Sox rumors thread in trade winds and the MLB Catch-All threads are so damn active.
-
This thing was a long time comming.
-
I demand there be a White Sox Catch-All thread, sometimes there's just a little thing about the Sox that has to be posted but does not require a new thread. A catch-all thread will also eliminate some of the 1-2 post threads you see in PHT all the time.

QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ May 25, 2006 -> 02:07 PM) I could probably write a book about all of the cute and funny things my 2-year-old brother says and does and annoy the hell out of everyone who dares to listen, but I'll spare everyone and just share this since it applies to the board... His new favorite thing to say to make me smile is "You can put it on the board...Yes!" (Ok, sometimes it'll just come out as "put in on the board, yes," but for the most part it's right on.) He'll also get a laugh out of saying "go cubs" to make me say "Noo!" since he knows I don't like it. Alright, I'm done being corny for now... How sweet.

QUOTE(kyyle23 @ May 25, 2006 -> 02:17 PM) Thats a nice and pretty color-coded trade map you got there. Im curious what else happened with the Dye trade, because he never played in Colorado so he was obviously spun to Oakland right away. Did the Rockies recieve any value for Dye? Funny that you mention it, Jose Ortiz' name came up for some reason yesterday in a conversation I was having with someone. I honestly have no idea what happened to this guy. Dye was traded the to the A's from the Rockies the same day he left KC, the A's picked up Jose Ortiz (uber bust), Mario Encarnacion (Busteroni) and Todd Belitz (Mondo huge bust). So no, Jermaine Dye has never been traded for anything of value.

QUOTE(Cuck the Fubs @ May 25, 2006 -> 01:35 PM) Ramirez has an escape clause in his deal. I'll bet he voids it and demands an Adrain Beltre-esque deal. He's put up better numbers than Beltre. He's been 1,000,000X more productive and consistent than Beltre over the course of his career. He'll pick up an even larger contract than $64M over 5 with a $7M signing bonus.
-
If Aramis can get white hot like he did for a time last year, the Cubs should immediately unload his ass to the first team that hits them up asking about Ramirez. His defense has improved a bit since he's been with the Cubs and when he's on he's one of the most prolific offensive threats at 3B in bigs. They should be able to get a nice package for him even with his current contract situation.

QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ May 25, 2006 -> 01:26 PM) I'll agree with that. Saturday I randomly paused in between pitches and focused on the crowd noice. So much chatter going on, and you could just tell very little of it had anything to do with the game. I literally don't talk to people during games and get teased a little for looking overly-focused. Communication should be limited to spontaneous high-fives and incoherent screaming for big plays that your team makes. I'm very similar to you in this sense except I will discuss in game situations with the few people around me who actually give a damn about the game.

QUOTE(Jenks Heat @ May 25, 2006 -> 01:17 PM) Contrearas and Lee will get the same number of games. You loss your pay for the games which you are suspended for. Therefore although I agree 100% in the suspending a starter long enough to miss a start or something, in this case it would be hard to support Contrearas getting more than Lee, thus hitting him in the pocket book at a greater percentage than Lee. I think they both get a game. In that case, you're better off just fining them. If you want to take money from them you fine them, if you want them to sit out a few games you suspend them.

QUOTE(RockRaines @ May 24, 2006 -> 02:25 PM) Its their own fault, they traded away an all star OF for nothing, and have had top draft picks that were crappy. Traded: Johnny Damon Mark Ellis Jermaine Dye Carlos Beltran Kevin Appier Received: AJ Hinch Angel Berroa Roberto Hernandez Neifi Perez Mike Wood Mark Teahen John Buck Jeff D'Amico Brad Rigby Blake Stein Not a lot of reloading going on there. The most productive trade was probably unloading Beltran but that was also the most recent so you have to atleast give Buck and Teahen a couple years to suck before proclaiming it a win. Also, Jermaine Dye for Neifie Perez (1 season w/ KC, 40 OPS+) might just be one of the most pathetic trades I've ever seen. Neifi was off to a fast start with the Rockies that year (.298 BA) and fooled KC with his Coors heavy offensive production. So sad.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ May 25, 2006 -> 12:37 PM) I've been to Houston (2), Cleveland, Detroit(2), Texas(2), St Louis, Cincy, Milwaukee, and obviously Chicago (2) and never have seen it. I stayed at the Skydome, but never actually saw a game there. We always called that stuff hockey rules because those are the only places we have ever seen it happen. I do love the idea and I wish they would implelment it everywhere. Well of those parks, I've been to Jacobs field but I sat in the UD so I wasn't really sure what they do there, I never encountered it at Milwaukee or Detroit before, they never did it at old Busch but I did hear that they do it at new Busch. Cinergy never had it but the 1 time I went to Great American they did enfact hold people back, of course I also had great seats right near home plate, so that might have something to do with it.
