  1. QUOTE(jphat007 @ May 12, 2006 -> 08:45 PM) Wait? What are we comparing here? Best pitcher period? Best pitcher over the past half a season? Best pitcher so far this season? Best pitcher the next 10 years? Pitcher you'd most like to have? I was saying he is the best pitcher in the AL right now and there is no denying that. He's the best pitcher in the bigs right now. Yes, you are correct Johan is the best in baseball right now and last year and next month and next year.
  2. QUOTE(jphat007 @ May 12, 2006 -> 08:43 PM) It'll be interesting to see where the two end up this year. So far Jose is dominating him in pretty much ever stat but Ks. .235 OBP against? That is disgusting. Age Difference, Resume.
  3. QUOTE(SSH2005 @ May 12, 2006 -> 08:40 PM) I think it's laughable that people would rather have Contreras than Santana. A huge part of this argument is also the age difference which is arguably around 30 years difference.
  4. QUOTE(Brian @ May 12, 2006 -> 08:38 PM) These "Coors Refreshed Fan Forums" are stupid. Everytime there is some girl saying Paulie/Crede/Murton/Prior are cute. Are you denying the cuteness of the firey red head Matt Murton?
  5. QUOTE(3RDBASE @ May 12, 2006 -> 08:36 PM) stupid...lol...yeah ok...who wants a stupid WS ring, certainly not Santana. How do you not see the flaw in that argument?
  6. QUOTE(3RDBASE @ May 12, 2006 -> 08:27 PM) How many WS does santana have? thanx...next. Interesting you use a team accomplishment to prove an argument involving individuals.
  7. QUOTE(jphat007 @ May 12, 2006 -> 08:25 PM) Jose isn't pitching tonight. Let's see Jose put up the resume that Johan has. Then we can talk.
  8. QUOTE(SSH2005 @ May 12, 2006 -> 08:23 PM) I call it being dominated by the best pitcher in baseball. Kind of a slap in the face for Johan, oh that's better.
  9. QUOTE(TitoMB345 @ May 12, 2006 -> 08:22 PM) Well, with out guys just looking like they don't want to hit tonight, we wont get any bloop bloop bloop hits. WTF would you call that?
  10. QUOTE(WilliamTell @ May 12, 2006 -> 06:46 PM) That'd be nice to see but it'd never happen. The Twins wouldn't want to trade him like previously said. I think I remember hearing a few years back that the Twins and White Sox have one of, if not the longest tradeless streak between any teams in the big leagues. Idk when the last time they traded but it's been a long time ago. As far as getting Rowand back, I don't think it's gonna happen and honestly I don't know if I want it to happen. We have a lot of outfielders right now, I'd prefere to get Carlos Lee back over Aaron Rowand but that's not going to happen either. I like Rowand, but with Anderson here now, and Sweeney and Owens waiting in the minors, we don't have space for him really. Who knows what'll happen within the next year or two though. The last trade I can think of that the Sox and Twins made was 20 years ago, Pete Filson for Kurt Walker. Not much of a precedent for a Twins-Sox trade.
  11. QUOTE(Felix @ May 12, 2006 -> 06:35 PM) I don't think there is any chance that the Yankees can get Griffey. I'm sure they'll inquire, but since the Reds are likely looking for pitching, and the Yankees have none, there's hardly any chance of a deal being worked out. Besides, why would Junior even want to leave Cincy? He's got a pretty sweet gig there and his no-trade clause protects him from ever having to give that up.
  12. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ May 12, 2006 -> 05:52 PM) Ozuna, LF Iguchi, 2B Thome, DH PK, 1B Dye, RF AJ, C Crede, 3B Uribe, SS Anderson, CF Garland, SP perfecto, cheers oswaldo
  13. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ May 12, 2006 -> 05:28 PM) We? I'm more than positive that you and WS101 are in the minority. ^^^ I'm fairly certain I'll be in Cooperstown the day he's inducted, I am most definately not a part of this "we" and I'd have to agree that a great portion of Sox fans feel the same way we do, especially the kids of the 90's.
  14. QUOTE(juddling @ May 12, 2006 -> 04:42 PM) lol Good for you.
  15. QUOTE(RockRaines @ May 12, 2006 -> 04:26 PM) How about last week? The week before that? Ive been to almost every home game this year, save 2 or 3, and I watch the games. I love Rowand, as a person, and as a player. But he had certain weakness in the field, one being the line drive straight at him, another being the short blooper, and another is his arm strength. I believe Anderson is better at all 3 areas. You're right, maybe I should start watching the games instead of just pretending I do because you know I'm just pulling all this out of my ass, I'm actually a Dodger fan, don't watch a lot of American league baseball.
  16. QUOTE(RockRaines @ May 12, 2006 -> 04:21 PM) No way, Anderson has above average arm strength, while Rowand is average IMO. Anderson is not only more accurate but can throw from deep in the OF. Wasnt he a pitcher in college as well? Yes, he was a pitcher which doesn't mean a lot. Arm strength is a very subjective thing and I'm not really sure where you've seen Anderson throw from deep in the OF. I don't remember him getting many oppertunities to do that.
  17. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ May 12, 2006 -> 04:18 PM) Rowand gets bad jumps? I've officially heard it all. You appearantly have not been reading a lot of the posts on Aaron's defense, if I had never seen him play before I'd figure that he was pretty damn brutal out there in center field from what I've read here.
  18. QUOTE(RockRaines @ May 12, 2006 -> 04:16 PM) Who said he was better than Torii Hunter? It has been stated a few times in atleast one of the many thread that discusses Brian Anderson's defense. Also, I disagree on arm strength I'd say at the very least Rowand and Anderson have equal arm strength where as Anderson has better accuracy. It seemed last year that Rowand lost all of his accuracy on throws to home and just ended up hitting the back of the mound on every throw.
  19. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ May 12, 2006 -> 04:10 PM) So you're saying that Anderson is overhyped defensively? I'm not sure yet who I want catching the fly ball to center with 2 outs in the bottom of the ninth, him or Rowand, but he's sure a damn good center fielder thus far, so I don't see how he's "over hyped". The fact that he's 42 games into his pro career and already being considered better than Torii Hunter is a joke. He's a very good defensive centerfielder right now but I'm going to have to see a larger body of work from him before I start proclaiming him a top 2 defensive CF in baseball.
  20. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ May 12, 2006 -> 03:24 PM) http://chicago.whitesox.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb...=.jsp&team=home How soon we forget....... That was still a very dominant outing by Santana, luckily the Sox hitters were able to go deep into counts against him and work his pitch count up. They ended up getting to Rincon while Thome was the only one who really got to Santana.
  21. The reason players like Anderson and Kotsay get over hyped defensively while guys like Rowand and Hunter get underrated is through peer pressure. It's a lesser form but still very appearant, one person says Kotsay is the best defensive center fielder in the AL, Rowand gets s***ty jumps and Torii Hunter has lost a step and suddenly people start latching on to this while ignoring the blatant visual evidence that proves otherwise.
  22. QUOTE(RockRaines @ May 12, 2006 -> 03:09 PM) You gotta think though, that this team would be unstoppable with Tori Hunter in CF. 1.Pods 2.Gooch 3.Thumb 4.Kong 5.Dye 6.Aj 7.Crede 8.Hunter 9.Uribe Why is that exactly? I'm not exactly keen on a CF with a sub .800 OPS. It has been proven statistically that Hunter ~ Rowand. He's an upgrade over Anderson at this point in time but in the long run and considering the cost, it would not be worth it.
  23. QUOTE(RockRaines @ May 12, 2006 -> 01:25 PM) what teams are avail knight? I thought we were full. He's pushing for expansion. We'll probably end up adding 2 new teams over the offseason.

    WCIU

QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ May 11, 2006 -> 09:31 AM) I have Comcast, and WCIU cannot be in HD, because WCIU doesn't have an HD channel. Maybe they will eventually, but right now, its not there. So for us Comcast users, WCIU comes in standard only (and their standard is pretty low). The games on WGN and CSN are HD because they both have HD channels on Comcast. This is very true, Comcast is on 200 and WGN is on 192 here, during the Sox game I searched up and down 173-208 which are all HD channels for a WCIU channel thinking maybe it would be on INHD or the SEHD and got nothing. If this magical channel does exist, it's on some cable/satelite service I don't know about.
