QUOTE(Balta1701 @ May 15, 2006 -> 12:52 PM) See, the problem is...a bad week for Pujols right now wins other people "Player of the week" awards. Do you realized that in his entire career Albert Pujols has never really had a bad month, his rookie year he had his worst month, a .793 OPS, .241 BA, 4 HRs and 12 RBI. His second season in the league he put up a .804 OPS one month and since then he's only had 3 months with an OPS under .950 and his OPS did not drop below .900 in any of those months. For the past 3 seasons he's only had 4 months with an OPS under 1.000. I know this post was completely off topic but this guy is seriously going to become one of if not the greatest hitter in the history of the game.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ May 15, 2006 -> 10:53 AM) Yeah, but even Pujols can have a bad week. Has he ever really had a bad week?

QUOTE(RibbieRubarb @ May 15, 2006 -> 09:30 AM) Alright...I'll bite. Who is an "ACE"? 1. Johan Santana 2. Roy Halladay 3. Jose Contreras 4. Pedro Martinez 5. Chris Carpenter 6. Roy Oswalt Potential to be an ace: 1. Rich Harden 2. Carlos Zambrano 3. Mark Prior 4. Javier Vazquez (needs to be more consistent) 5. Jake Peavy 6. Scott Kazmir 7. Jeremy Bonderman 8. Josh Beckett 9. Felix Hernandez

QUOTE(YASNY @ May 15, 2006 -> 06:07 AM) Young pitchers mature. They'll (the Tigers) be around for a while. Nate Robertson and Mike Maroth are 28 soon to be 29, they're really not young anymore Robertson for sure will begin to regress simply because he is not a good pitcher, Maroth more than likely will follow suit as well but he is a better overall pitcher than Robertson.

QUOTE(jackie hayes @ May 15, 2006 -> 12:49 AM) Just more proof. Mark Buehrle is not an ace.

Mark Buehlre's Run Average for what it's worth is 4.44.

QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ May 14, 2006 -> 10:20 PM) lol @ the Frank defenders, so silly. Oh, and you say it's my fault for stirring the pot like I care CWSGuy, which I don't. I couldn't care less, and why would anybody go to Cooperstown to see Frank be inducted? He will probably just rip the organization like he always does. A lot of Sox fans who grew up watching baseball in the 90's became Sox fans because of him. Just because you don't like him for your own reasons doesn't mean you have to b**** about Thomas every f***ing time his or Thome's name are brought up. This is the modern day attendance thread, the next time you see Frank's name posted on the site do us all a favor and just ignore it because most people are getting sick of reading your bulls***.

QUOTE(Heads22 @ May 14, 2006 -> 10:22 PM) I always thought pitchers should get an ER if they committed an error This was discussed during the game today by me and a couple friends of mine, if the pitcher makes the error why the f*** is it unearned? He's the one that messed up it she be an earned run, this is also another example of how ERA can be flawed at time.

Goldy, maybe you could change the line to "Getting lit up". Either way it's f***ing beautiful.
-
Wouldn't be so bad having the Tigers in 1st right now
Kalapse replied to brijames's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I'd much rather have the Sox in first place, they seemed to play relatively well with everyone else behind them for 173 games last season. -
QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ May 14, 2006 -> 12:57 PM) The single season RBI leader is Hack Wilson who, in 1930, drove in 191 runs. Albert Pujols will break that record (he's on pace to be right around there as of May 14th). True statement? False, he'll soon be walked unmercifully, however this will lead to Edmonds and Rolen driving in a lot more runs. Which in turn will lead to Pujols seeing more pitches to hit and a pick up in RBI production but that small lull will kill any chance he has of reaching 190+ RBI. He will however, win the triple crown in the NL.

I'm having no problem with them.

QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ May 14, 2006 -> 12:24 PM) Looks like somebody forgot about the game 3 gem against the Angels in the alcs. And Jon had a 3.65 era after the all-star break last year -- lower than Buehrle's and Garcia's. Jon's in a funk right now. There's no denying that. But I feel safe when I say his era is not gonna be close to 7 all season. Ok, he had 2 good postseason starts, I'm not really sure how that negates 3 months of bad pitching and using Buehrle and Garcia's struggles from the 2nd half of last year as a part of an argument doesn't make a whole hell of a lot of sense. Look at Garland's splits, he had a pretty good July but was pretty damn bad in August and September, Buehrle had a pathetic July but was much better in August and September. Also Garcia wasn't very good over the same months as Garland last year and has looked sub-par this year but has still managed to limit his runs allowed over his bad outings unlike Garland.

I think it's pretty damn obvious what Javier's problem was yesterday, WIDGER. That f***er just brings out the worst in Vazquez, I know what you're going to say Widger did not catch Javy yesterday that was Pierz!!11 Think about it though Ozzie gets tossed and suddenly Javier gets lit up, coincidence? I think not. I believe Pierz was getting his pitches called from the dugout and once Ozzie got tossed Widger took over the pitch calling. Hence the suckassness displayed by vazquez alst night. Kill Widger.

So let me get this straight, these numbers are not alarming because he pitched 7 innings in Houston and only allowed 2 ERs? So one start negates 18 other starts over the past 3 or so months? August: G GS W L SV CG SHO IP H R ER HR BB K ERA WHIP BAA 6 6 1 4 0 0 0 37.2 47 24 20 6 10 21 September: 5 5 1 2 0 1 1 37.0 33 16 16 7 10 24 April/May: 7 7 2 2 0 0 0 44.0 60 33 33 8 10 19 --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Total: 18 18 4 8 0 1 1 118.2 140 73 69 21 30 64 5.23 1.43 /suckass

The Braves are seriously my 2nd favorite team in baseball. I just love their young players and the style of ball they play.

QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ May 13, 2006 -> 03:40 PM) If you want to watch a net feed on your TV I think you can provided you have an S-Video cable. And the signal gets incredibly spread out and fuzzy where as you buy the extra innings and get a damn good picture.

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ May 12, 2006 -> 10:50 PM) Just a question here. Before this season, and be honest here, who thought Rowand was going to get back to his 2004 hitting and not what he did last season? Ha, go back into any thread that discussed Rowand over the offseason and you'll see that I fully expected Rowand to hit a lot more like '04 than '05 this year.

Who is your Biggest fear to play in your division?
Kalapse replied to The-Legend-Of-Pujols's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Cleveland becaue they are IMO the 2nd best team in the divison even though their pitching looks pathetic right now and Detroit is doing everything well. Cleveland's offense is still incredibly scary and they probably have the best hitter in the AL Central with the exception of Jim Thome perhaps. -
QUOTE(jphat007 @ May 12, 2006 -> 09:51 PM) Probably will be? Just to let you know since last years All-Star Break Johan Santana has been superior to Jose Contreras but I'm sure you'll just ignore this.
-
Mark Buehrle can be beat and probably will be. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ May 12, 2006 -> 09:43 PM) This game made work go by SOOO much slower. Typical Santana game I guess, but you would think we would figure him out by now. Guess somethings never change... It's aweful hard to "figure out" a pitcher as great as Santana.
-
Pick one please. Player A: 2.23 ERA, .97 WHIP, 143 K Player B: 2.49 ERA, 1.06 WHIP, 103 K

Montero looks good, Mauer with his 2nd HR of the season, 2nd Vs the Sox.

QUOTE(jphat007 @ May 12, 2006 -> 08:52 PM) LOL. Uh no. Jose is dominating Santana so far this year. I'm sure Santana will get into Santana-esque numbers, but even if he does, it's not as good as JOse if he keeps it up. BUt who knows if he will. That's why I said it'll be interesting to see where they are. Jose has been the best pitcher in baseball since the All-star break last year til right now though and it's not particularly close. Santana's second half of last year > Contreras'. Contereras has been better for April (big f***ing accomplishment) and now Contreras is on the DL while Santana is dominating.

QUOTE(SSH2005 @ May 12, 2006 -> 08:50 PM) He's not, just accept it. Johan Santana: 2004 A.L. Cy Young Award. And he should have won the Cy Young in '05 as well but the f***ing voters put more weight on 16 wins as opposed to his .97 WHIP.
