  1. QUOTE(3E8 @ May 15, 2006 -> 06:21 PM) We are 3-1 when Ross Gload starts and undefeated when he gets a hit. We are also 5-0 when Juan Uribe strikes out twice.
  2. QUOTE(Frankensteiner @ May 15, 2006 -> 06:06 PM) I think this is overplayed. The Pirates had no problem giving the Cubs Lofton/Ramirez a couple of years ago. Hunter will go to the team offering the best package, regardless of division. The Sox and Twins have not traded with eachother since 1986 just because the Pirates are f***ing stupid doesn't mean a half way decent team like the Twins would do things the same way. You will not be seeing torii traded to any team within the division.
  3. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ May 15, 2006 -> 05:52 PM) I have no idea where to put this but... Dan Plesac is the best analyst on Comcast. Period. Dan Plesac sucks and you are stupid. You do realize he picked the Cubs to have a better record than the Sox this year right? RIGHT?
  4. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ May 15, 2006 -> 05:13 PM) That would be 35 wins in about 49 starts between the 2. I can't think of a reason why they can't win every one of those starts.
  5. Speaking of former White Sox first round picks who played for southern schools in college our future LF/trade bait Josh Fields is f***ing lighting it up like noones business, went 5 for 5 last night with 2 bombs and a double.
  6. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ May 15, 2006 -> 04:57 PM) That is more than ridiculous 18 wins for Santana and 17 for Liriano, what's so outragoues about that? I was thinking more like 40 combined, I think the Twins fans are being a bit conservative on that prediction.
  7. KC Vs CLE was postponed today meaning the Indians and Twins will finish the day tied for 3rd 8.5 games back of the 25-12 Sox. Oh yeah and the Royals are 14 games back.
  8. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ May 15, 2006 -> 04:04 PM) Who would everyone say is the best defensive CF in baseball? Jones? Yes, Jones easy. He's probably the 2nd best defensive CF of the 90's behind Griffey and probably top 5 of all-time.
  9. Hmm, a nice defensive play to end a game, quite a good note to go out on.
  10. Also just to preface everything I posted (even though it's after the fact) I am probably one of the biggest pedro fans you'll find, grew up watching him dominate every great hitter of the 90's and fell in love with the way he played the game.
  11. QUOTE(WCSox @ May 15, 2006 -> 02:37 PM) Um, not really. Pedro was "the most dominant pitcher of his time" for about four years and was never the same after the injury. Randy Johnson had a phenominal stretch from '97-'02 and has five Cy Youngs. Maddux was a bad-ass in from '92-'98 and has four Cy Youngs under his belt. Clemens had a few different dominant periods ('86-'92 in Boston, '97 and '98 in Toronto, and '03 and '04 in Houston) and has a whopping SEVEN Cy Youngs. All three have rings and the latter two are members of the 300-win club, which Pedro won't touch. Pedro was probably the best pictcher in baseball history from '97-'00, but some of his peers had dominant stretches as well, along with better numbers over the long-term. So I don't think that he'd necessarily be a first-ballot lock for Cooperstown if he blew out his shoulder tomorrow. Possibly, but not definitely. That said, Pedro's '97-'01 numbers, three Cy Youngs, 200 wins, and helping the BoSox get their first ring in 86 years will get him in. Honestly I could throw a bunch of stats at you like WHIP and ERA+, I could say that Cy Youngs aren't always awarded to the most deserving pitcher, wins are a pretty meaningless stat for pitchers and throw out a Sandy Koufax comparison or two and probably prove that Pedro is the best pitcher of his time (even though he does not have the longevity of others) and possibly the greatest of all time but I seriously don't have the patience to go through all the work.
  12. QUOTE(hammerhead johnson @ May 15, 2006 -> 02:37 PM) Other than WcSox, who thinks that he's not an ace? He only leads the majors in WHIP and strikeouts. I constantly hear people mentioning him in the same light as Randy Johnson and other old s***ty pitchers, a lot of people think he's mediocre simply because they don't bother to watch him pitch or even check his numbers, I mean a WHIP in the .80's isn't all that good is it? is it?
  13. QUOTE(RockRaines @ May 15, 2006 -> 02:26 PM) just make sure to stay away from the fries, go with the onion rings. I love the nasty little fries you get at Steak N Shake.
  14. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ May 15, 2006 -> 02:19 PM) Uh oh, 3-1 to Cruddyer. No walks Freddy, Morneau on deck who can hit it a mile despite hitting below his weight in terms of batting average. Walked him, oops. Morneau weight = 223 pounds Morneau Average = .242 not quite
  15. QUOTE(hammerhead johnson @ May 15, 2006 -> 02:07 PM) That Baltimore rotation is scary bad. Bruce Chen is arguably the worst starter in the majors. I'd say Josh Towers ~ Bruce Chen.
  16. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ May 15, 2006 -> 02:08 PM) I agree his O is over rated, we see him kill the Sox, but I'd be surprised if he is a .270 career hitter. .267 career Avg with a 100 OPS+ (AVERAGE).
  17. QUOTE(RockRaines @ May 15, 2006 -> 02:03 PM) im so hungry now. There's 2 right near my house (probably the only place worth a damn in the Streamwood area) I'm thinking about heading over there right after the game.
  18. QUOTE(DePloderer @ May 15, 2006 -> 02:00 PM) Yep, is that the kind of stuff I can look forward to? Is that the kind of fine dining I've been reading about in all the travel guides? Portillo's is really quite awesome, if you stop by there you will not be disappointed.
  19. QUOTE(tonyho7476 @ May 15, 2006 -> 01:52 PM) So, they get him and move DAmon to left, or something along those lines? I guess I could see that. As for us getting Hunter, I was thinking more for this year, and not long term. I still like BA, just want to see that average get up there and to see him continue more rallies. Maybe by the end of this year, my concerns will be gone. I hope so. Well, if you truely like BA then you really shouldn't have any interest in Hunter seeing how he would more than likely be the centerpiece of any possible deal IMO.
  20. QUOTE(WCSox @ May 15, 2006 -> 01:41 PM) I think that a strong argument can be made for that. I thought that Pedro's days as a #1 were over after he blew the lead in Game 7 of the '03 ALCS. But he came back strong in the '04 WS and had a terrific '05. And he's doing very well so far this year (although he's in the NL again and the majority of the hitters are not familiar with his stuff). I'm not sure that he's on Santana's level at this point, but if he can put up two more really good years, I think that he'll get into Cooperstown. Well, seeing how he's the most dominant pitcher of his time and had arguably the greatest single season by any pitcher in the history of baseball in 2000 with his 1.74 ERA, .73 WHIP (best ever) and 285 ERA+ (best ever) he should have his spot in Cooperstown cemented as of today.
  21. No, why would you trade a pissload for Hunter? The deal would probably include Anderson and hunter is due a $12M bonus next year, that money can be better spent elsewhere instead of moderately improving a position that does not need to be addressed. Hunter is an incredibly average hitter who plays superb defense, that is not worth $12M and some great talent IMO. Also, Hunter will not be traded in the division so it's the point is moot anyway.
  22. QUOTE(WCSox @ May 15, 2006 -> 01:21 PM) I generally agree, although Oswalt and Jose are both borderline top tier, IMO. We're at an interesting time in MLB where the "old guard" of studs (Clemens, Randy Johnson, Pedro) have lost a step due to age/injuries. Anyway, I'd rank Buehrle right there with Pedro and Zambrano. Great stuff and dominant at times, but not quite Cy Young material (or not anymore, in Pedro's case). Actually Pedro still is Cy Young material, I'm not sure why people don't think he is anymore, he's 5-0 with a 3.19 ERA and a .86 WHIP! (sick). Buehlre does not have great stuff, he's not really anywhere near the caliber of a Zambrano or Pedro in terms of stuff but that's alright, he's an incredibly smart pitcher and usually locates his pitches well especially his fastball and his curve. Contreras and Oswalt are borderline, you're right especially Contreras whom has not been great for very long and Oswalt who has injury concerns. IMO there are 3 "Aces" in each league with 1 borderline Ace from both league includeded.
