Sox vs Royals 4/19
QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Apr 19, 2006 -> 02:21 PM) I'm surprised his back isn't messed up with some of the swings he takes. It was messed up as of last season but he worked his way back to full strength.

QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Apr 19, 2006 -> 02:18 PM) 3 hits is not exactly tearing the cover off the ball. Does our O look bad? 8 baserunners today which is solid. They just havn't been all that effective with RISP.

Sox vs Royals 4/19
QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Apr 19, 2006 -> 01:53 PM) So the question is...is adding extra RISP worth subtracting some OBP (combined with the annoying the pitcher factor). As long as Pods is up at 75% or so, I can live with it, because those hits by Thome, Iguchi, and Konerko will turn into more RBI's than just sitting back & waiting for a dinger. I have no problem with the 78% he put up last year before his injury, that doesn't really bother me even if it would in other players. Once I guy starts dropping under the 75% marker then you have some serious problems. His 46% in the final 2 months of the season was hurting the team more than it was helping it. I know he was hurt but if he doesnt feel that he can steal bases successfully then he shouldn't be doing it.

QUOTE(bmags @ Apr 19, 2006 -> 01:48 PM) So in other words...that high OBP we were praising last year should also subtract the amt. he immediately gets him self out on the base paths... That's pretty much the way it works.

Sox vs Royals 4/19
QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Apr 19, 2006 -> 01:25 PM) The usual number I hear about it helping is success 75% of the time Yeah but typically I prefer someone even higher than that. Guys like Juan Pierre just don't get the jobe done for me. Yeah Elarton.

QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Apr 19, 2006 -> 01:23 PM) Thats the way stealing is.... sometimes it works out for the best sometimes is screws u. That's why it's really not worth it unless you're Carlos Beltran or Bobby Abreu and stealing 85-95% of your bases successfully.

Sox vs Royals 4/19
QUOTE(Damen @ Apr 19, 2006 -> 01:22 PM) This is why Pods doesn't need to steal every time he gets on base. We'd have bases loaded right now w/no outs. That's incorrect. I gaurantee Elarton would not have made the same pitch to Cintron that he did and his sequence to Thome would have been different. We would have had a chance at bases loaded but things would have been way different.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Apr 19, 2006 -> 01:21 PM) Santana v. Buehrle Friday. Now that's what a pitching matchup looks like. I always enjoyed Buehrle Vs Mulder. As long as the game wasn't being played in Oakland, you knew it would be a close, low scoring game that woud be played in under 2 hours.

Rookie of the Year
QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Apr 19, 2006 -> 01:13 PM) I believe it's saying if you meet any of those 3 criteria, the player is ineligible as a rookie for the next season. There we go.

Zito is available
QUOTE(WCSox @ Apr 19, 2006 -> 11:50 AM) Buehrle's definitely better, but I don't really want the Injuns to land Zito. Even if he's only their third- or fourth-best pitcher, they'll probalby win more games with him than without. I think it really depends on who they'd have to give up to get him, it would more than likely force them to give up one or more of Adam Miller, Jeremy Sowers, Fausto Carmona or Francisco Cabrera. If it means we don't have to see one or 2 of these future studs for the comming years in the indians rotation and Zito will only spend about 1/2 a season there it might be worth it.

Caption This
On his follow through as his right hand comes down across his body, he lifts his right leg high into the air. It's a fairly common motion and is just a good shot of him at full follow through.

Rookie of the Year
QUOTE(maggsmaggs @ Apr 19, 2006 -> 12:56 PM) I got to agree, how often do you see a rookie take the closer's job in the beginning of the year and run with it? His stuff is filthy and his numbers are sick so far. Well last year the 22 year old Huston Street took over the closers role in June after pitching only 26 innings in the minors in 04 (only 2 IP of which was in AAA) and put up a 1.72 ERA and closed out 23 games and winning AL ROY honors for the Oakland Athletics. I'd say that's quite an accomplishment.

Fan Arrested For Throwing 'Tube' at Bonds
QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Apr 18, 2006 -> 09:26 PM) I don't necessarily hate the Cubs...I mainly hate Cubs fans in general. There are exceptions of course, but that's just the way it is for me. However - my main point concerning Cuck was that he talks about the Cubs in like every friggin post. While it's entertaining to make fun of the Cubs, it gets old after a while. That's mainly what I was trying to say. I just threw that Sox thing in there for the hell of it. I agree with both points, it isn't really the Cubs it's more their fans than anything else and yes he is obsessed with the Cubs it's scary.

Fan Arrested For Throwing 'Tube' at Bonds
QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Apr 18, 2006 -> 02:21 PM) Seriously I dont see much of a reason to hate the Cubs anymore. The Sox got the championship first, the Sox stole Chicago back, the Sox have the better park, and the Sox are THE talk of Chicago, especially with Thome killing the ball. What more could you want? I'm not saying you have to like the Cubs, because I sure as hell don't, but holy hell, the Cubs are not kings*** in Chicago anymore. I don't hate the Cubs for any of the reasons you listed above. I just hate them, I'm not entirely sure why but I just hate them and I always will. What the Sox did last year does not change the way I feel about them.

Thomas, Gay Declare for NBA Draft
Woah, woah, woah, Shawn Marion? Let's not go that far. Tyrus is an amazing athlete and all but he does not have the outside shot of Marion, a much better comparison would be Kenyon Martin, who also went #1 overall.

Fan Arrested For Throwing 'Tube' at Bonds
QUOTE(Cuck the Fubs @ Apr 18, 2006 -> 10:37 AM) That would be horrible. I bet at Wrigley they can barf at him. My economics teacher said he's got friend who live outside Wrigley, and he's like, "Every time the Cubs have a night game, someone either barfs or takes a dump on their lawn." What about when Kerry Wood is on the DL? I assume those nights when he's not around the ballpark the people in Wrigleyville breathe a sigh of relief since he won't be able to relieve himself in their front lawn.
