  1. QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Apr 17, 2006 -> 11:53 AM) MBINSE I'm not a big fan of gigantic sideburns, so this is actually correct. Though I love the guy as a pitcher he just doesn't do it for me in the looks department.
  2. I'm not sure the player will be sexy enough to warrant my attention after this.
  3. QUOTE(My Dixie Normus @ Apr 16, 2006 -> 10:02 PM) Funny thing was he got Molina by 15 steps. I don't know what the hell he was doing comming up the line but in my baseball days dogging it to first would have been a fine. I think the guy that was playing the piano on his back fell off and he stopped to let him back on. Bengie Molina doesn't have to dog it, he's far and away the slowest player in baseball.
  4. This is nothing except a great comparison between the 2 managers in Chicago. The second Ozzie sees one of his pitchers show up a teammate he does something about it, where as Dusty Baker pats Carlos Zambrano on the ass and tells him to keep up the good work. It was a tough play for Iguchi and Freddy knows it he was just frustrated at the time, there will be no ill will in the future between the two.
  5. QUOTE(Felix @ Apr 16, 2006 -> 04:37 PM) I can't believe he did it again, he was joking around with a couple other guys in the dugout during the game, they were probably egging him on to slide on the turf if there's a delay.
  6. QUOTE(Soxpranos @ Apr 15, 2006 -> 10:53 PM) Not to mention, his throwing was very bad at times. About 70% of the time actually. He had no accuracy with his throws last year, he was terrible.
  7. QUOTE(Soxpranos @ Apr 15, 2006 -> 10:26 PM) If they only had Rowand, he would of caught that single somehow! Joke for all you Rowand lovers :rolly
  8. QUOTE(Felix @ Apr 15, 2006 -> 10:21 PM) Rowand has a chance, but merely because of the postseason, the Yankees series last year, and being traded to the Phillies for Jim Thome. All of these things put his name on the map, and since we know that the media basically picks the GG winner (usually at least), he's got a chance. The Yankees series from last year put him on the map and gave him a nationally known name, he just has to start unnecessarily leaping for balls and diving at balls that could easily be caught without diving, then he'll be in the drivers seat.
  9. QUOTE(Soxpranos @ Apr 15, 2006 -> 10:20 PM) to each his own, His chances are slim to none at best. We shall see at the end of the year. I keep forgetting.. rowand is God. Do you really think there are 3 outfielders in the NL that are locks for the gold glove right now? Last year we had Jones, Edmonds and Abreu. Abreu is the furthest thing from a lock seeing how last year was the first time he's won and he has had a fall from grace after his pathetic second half last year power wise. Also with the way Edmonds is playing right now, if he does keep this up it could be the first time in 6 years that we don't see him winning won. Jones is a lock. And noone is claiming Rowand is god but that is a nifty little belittling statement ya got there, just because some people think Rowand is better than you think he is doesn't me they are claiming his is god.
  10. QUOTE(Soxpranos @ Apr 15, 2006 -> 10:16 PM) He's a better offensive player and defensive player period... Yes. match them both up in the same amount of games.. Hunter comes out on top! Thank you Andruw Jones... we wont have any conterversy this year or the next few. Torii Hunter being the superior offensive player is debated to say the least. Just because Andruw Jones plays the same position doesn't mean Rowand can't win a GG this year. As a matter of fact I think Arow has a damn good chance.
  11. QUOTE(Soxpranos @ Apr 15, 2006 -> 10:04 PM) For one, Rbi jump out at me... Rowand played 59 more games than Hunter did last year, and still trailed in Rbi and Hr's? Now if you take the defensive plays that Hunter has done over his course... theres no contest there. Rowand had a good year last year playing very deep... Hunter has always played well on Defense. I believe Hunter has taken away more homers in 1 season than Rowand has in all his career. If you look closer at the seaonal average, hunter drives in more runs.. scores more runs and most of all plays better defense! You're talking about a #3 hitter and a #6/#7 hitter. Also I love your non-statistical argument, it's all hearsay.
  12. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Apr 15, 2006 -> 09:56 PM) Okay, looking at the numbers, where exactly does Hunter excel over Rowand at the plate? Rowand's stats Hunter's stats Aaron Rowand career 103 OPS+ Hunter 100 OPS+ not to mention Rowand's amazing personality and ability to become one of the biggest fan favorites the team has ever had.
  13. That breaks up the streak that the Sox and Yankess had for the first 10 games of the year of WLLLLWWWWL, damn Yankees didn't hold up their side of the deal.
  14. QUOTE(daa84 @ Apr 15, 2006 -> 09:40 PM) really the strongest case is uribe vs. jeter.....scouts all say uribe has much better range, and every stat geek last year said uribe was easily the best ss in the AL Not to mention the fact that ESPN analysts actually went to bat last year for Uribe saying he should have won it, including Tim Kurkjian.
  15. QUOTE(Soxpranos @ Apr 15, 2006 -> 09:37 PM) Very true... the man that got robbed was Wells not Rowand. Umm, Vernon Wells won a gold glove last year. There's really no way around it, Aaron Rowand deserved that gold glove that's now in Torii Hunter's possession
  16. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Apr 15, 2006 -> 09:33 PM) Whatevr I can understand people making fun of Scientology because the whole thing is just plain retarded..... but I dont understand why people want a tv show to make fun of a religion so bad. Especially when we just saw what a little comic did making fun of the muslim faith. Did you see either of the last 2 South Park episodes? If you have I don't see how you could say that they made fun of the Muslim religion. People just don't like the idea of a television station refusing to show a cartoon character and these South Park episodes have attempted to convey the importance of the 1st ammendment.
  17. QUOTE(Soxpranos @ Apr 15, 2006 -> 09:27 PM) Stronger case is Crede vs Chavez... I'll take Hunters over Rowands defense anyday! Except for the fact that Torii Hunter only played 98 games last year and shouldn't even have been considered for the GG, where as Chavez played a full year of stellar defense. Hunter shouldn't just automatically win every year just because he's been good in the past, if he plays less than 100 games in the season he shouldn't be in the running. Chavez is a great defensive 3B and him beating out Crede last year was acceptable.

  19. QUOTE(Felix @ Apr 15, 2006 -> 09:04 PM) He didn't have much of a chance with Andrew Jones and Jim Edmonds automatically taking up two of them. Jim Edmonds doesn't look as automatic this year as he has in the past.
  20. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Apr 15, 2006 -> 06:34 PM) Well considering he's easily better than Brian "white hope" Urlacher, I'd say letting him walk isn't a good idea. That's just foolish.
  21. I've been having trouble of late in breaking down anything that has to do with the NFL I think it's because my mind has now completely shifted to baseball. So for this I'll only contest one thing simply because I'm not sure I can put together a coherent thought involving football strategy at the moment. I do believe that Briggs is a great athlete, though he may have underperformed during his workouts for the '03 Draft. You could let Briggs walk if you think he's not a great athlete and then use a draft pick on a linebacker that is a freak athlete through and through but in doing that you'll be letting a player walk who has been with the the team and has performed unbelievably and replacing him with someone who you believe to be a great athlete but has yet to prove that he can perform in the pros at the level that Briggs has. Just remember a guy like Terrell Suggs had a subpar 40 during his draft workouts and ended up being passed up by the Bears for it, or maybe you think he's the product of the system now to, I don't know. Just because someone is a great athlete does not mean that athleticism will translate to success at the next level. Briggs has performed at an All-Pro level for the time he has been with the Bears and I believe this to be becaus he is just that damn good, if he walks at the end of the year it will be regreted. EDIT: I forgot to add that I believe he will be retained by the Bears at the end of the season.
  22. I'll be at the game today, it will be my first of the season.
  23. QUOTE(UC76 @ Apr 14, 2006 -> 03:06 PM) Yeah, but Freel doesn't date Lisa Dergan, now does he? Advantage: Podsednik. Lisa and Scott are now married.
