  1. I'm f***ing speechless. Corey Patterson going deep it's now 10-7. Simply remarkable.
  2. QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Apr 19, 2006 -> 06:53 PM) If this has already been said, please ignore, but I noticed that DJ was incredibly subdued on Juan Uribe's homerun. There was no "Uh-oh!", no corny excitement, he just called it as he saw it. DJ doesnt bug me anymore, it just kind of happened when I wasnt noticing. All the sudden I feel that he is really doing a good job in the booth now. "Kiss that baby goodbye"
  3. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Apr 19, 2006 -> 06:37 PM) What the hell is wrong with you? Iowa's suckitude is just so great, it's unbelievable.

    QUOTE(TitoMB345 @ Apr 19, 2006 -> 07:18 PM) Yes, right now, I will take Buehrle over Santana. RIGHT NOW. Once Santana settles in, I'm sure he'll be my pick. But until he shows me he has found his grove, I'm taking Buehrle. Like I said, I'm not taking Buehrle's career over Santana's at all, but as of this moment, Buehrle is pitching better. I'd say that even right now, Santana has a better chance of finding his best stuff and absolutely shutting down a team than Buehrle. It's just the way the 2 pitchers are, it doesn't really even matter how they both look at the moment or whether you think Santana hasn't found his best stuff yet.
  5. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Apr 19, 2006 -> 07:12 PM) Baltimore answering right back. 4-3 now with runners on 1st and 2nd and no outs for Miggy. The whole inning started with a Corey Patterson bunt single. Blew that.
  6. QUOTE(Whitewashed in '05 @ Apr 19, 2006 -> 06:59 PM) Tell that to the sox. I don't know what his career stats are vs us, but it always seems that we can't ever touch him even during his rough streteches...which has been the past 2 seasons. Unless thats just because were are horrible vs the a's... Oh Barry why must you always kick our ass? G GS W L SV CG SHO IP H R ER HR BB K ERA WHIP BAA 10 10 7 2 0 0 0 68.0 51 25 24 7 20 47 3.18 1.04 .211 Yeah, I'd say Zito was has been pretty damn good against the Sox for a guy who's supposedly so hittable. Oh yeah and his 7-2 record VS the Sox is his best Win% against any non-divisional opponent.

    QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Apr 19, 2006 -> 06:58 PM) It has nothing to do with what kind of pitchers they are, and as far as Maddux-Clemens goes, Maddux was every bit as good as Rogers was. Johan is the best pitcher in the al right now and while Mark is one hell of a pitcher, he's just not in Johan's league at this point. Johan Santana is the best pitcher in baseball period. His stuff is so f***ing sick and he knows exactly how to use it, he's just one of those damn pitchers that comes around only once every decade. Mark is a f***ing awesome pitcher, don't get me wrong. The guy has some good pitches and is smart as hell, pitches tons of innings and is a great guy but he's just nowhere near Santana right now.
  8. Reggie Abercrombie CF of the Florida Marlins hit his first career HR today . . . it traveled 493 feet.
  9. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Apr 19, 2006 -> 05:31 PM) This is the classic KW type question. The A's have a very good team this year, and may not have as good of a team next year (i.e. Thomas could be gone, Zito gone, etc.) So, they can hold onto Zito and make 1 gigantic run this year. Or they could trade Zito, still try their best to make a run this year, and have some other big name guy to try to make a run next year. Personally, if I'm in Billy Beane's seat, I figure that I missed my chance when both the Yankees and Red Sox had down years, and figure that as long as I don't give Zito to one of those 2 teams without raking them over the coals completely, I'll be better off with some other big time prospect trying to help carry me over the hump the next 6 years than just trying this year. Sounds like the '05 Marlins and AJ Burnett.

    QUOTE(TitoMB345 @ Apr 19, 2006 -> 05:29 PM) As of right now, Santana isnt anywhere near Buehrle's league. Buehrle has dominated in his two wins, and Santana has looked horrid/not hisself in his two losses. RIGHT NOW, I would take Buehrle any day of the week. But there's no way I'd take Buehrle's career over Santana's.. I'm not even sure if it's even worth responding to this. You're going to judge them off of 3 starts? Ignore thier track records and judge them off of 3 starts? Johan had a 3.55 ERA in April last year and an April ERA of 5.40. The guy starts off weak every year, there's no reason to freak out about him now. Wait until he begins to settle in and he'll be unhittable again.

  13. QUOTE(Controlled Chaos @ Apr 19, 2006 -> 02:35 PM) Whats the record? I know Frank did it in 14 straight in '94 but I doubt that's the record.
  14. QUOTE(fathom @ Apr 19, 2006 -> 02:30 PM) Tony...this was one of those sarcastic comments I make throughout the year to see what the reaction would be. It's similar to how I said last year that I'd rather have Shingo pitch instead of Jenks, since Shingo has better stuff. That was probably one of the top 3 threads from last season.
  15. QUOTE(fathom @ Apr 19, 2006 -> 02:29 PM) What good is Pods if he can't score from 2nd base on a single? nice
  16. Bases juiced for Jermaine "The Grand Slam Machine" Dye.
  17. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Apr 19, 2006 -> 02:21 PM) I'm surprised his back isn't messed up with some of the swings he takes. It was messed up as of last season but he worked his way back to full strength.
