QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 16, 2005 -> 09:57 PM) Why were the Twins shading Iguchi so far up the middle??? Double play depth.

I love that hook.

QUOTE(Felix @ Sep 16, 2005 -> 09:56 PM) I can understand you partly, but Pods is the hottest hitter on the Sox right now, no need to take him out. LETS GO JENKS!!!1 Uribe is the hottest hitter.

QUOTE(BFirebird @ Sep 16, 2005 -> 09:50 PM) Henderson is another guy that was worth the price of admission. No one liked Rickey more than Rickey did but a hell of a ballplayer. And Arod may end up being the best ever, Pujols right behind him. Look out for Miggy Cabrera, he's still only 22 and putting up ridiculous numbers.

QUOTE(qwerty @ Sep 16, 2005 -> 08:25 PM) He didn't even hit arbitration when he signed that. Which makes it all the more stupid of a move by Crawford.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Sep 16, 2005 -> 05:15 PM) Can you name any players who you'd expect would be signing with the D-Rays? Carl Crawford. 4 yrs 15.25M

QUOTE(whitesoxgt @ Sep 16, 2005 -> 03:43 PM) Hunter in Center, Rowand in Left and Pods in Right, and have Anderson as the DH . i dont think anybody likes Everett and if u do theres something wrong with you. You seem to have a vendetta against Everett. Did he hurt your feelings or something?

QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Sep 16, 2005 -> 05:56 PM) Yeah, same here. Maybe you think it's not funny because you can't hear it. Try viewing it in IE instead of Firefox.

There's no TV on Saturday because Fox has the Official rights to all games played during the afternoon on Sat. Since they'll be showing a different game, the Sox game will be exclusively on the radio.

Scott Podsednik in September: 12G, 47AB, 9R, 3 2B, 1 3B, .362/.427/.468 His baserunning may be sucking right now but the guy is getting on base, you cannot take that bat out of this lineup.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Sep 15, 2005 -> 01:07 PM) Again, when you're catching Mark Buehrle a lot, and Jon Garland a lot, this is to be expected. It's not necessarily a function of the catcher. That's why these stats are hard to interpret - the sample size is so small, that another variable, like catching our 2 best pitchers more often than others, could be biasing the sample. I was just answering the original question of the thread, which had not been answered yet.

QUOTE(Rich McKinney @ Sep 15, 2005 -> 12:59 PM) I actually don't understand....Did the Sox really play that badly in the final week? The Yankees limped into the playoffs in 2000, losing 10 of their last 12 games, they only won 87 games that year yet still pulled off the division. They also managed to win the World Series that season. Meaning, Even if you suck your last week of the season you can still go pretty deep in the playoffs.

QUOTE(forrestg @ Sep 15, 2005 -> 12:47 PM) Niether Aj or WIdger are very good at throwing runners out.. I don't remember Davis but if you watch our games they steal a lot of bases and Ajs and Widgers percentage is not very good. Olivo could throw out runners but had troubl;e with the bat and calling a game. Most of the bases that are stolen when AJ and Chris are behind the plate are stolen on the pitcher and not on the catcher. My grandmother could steal off Contreras not to mention Hernandez and Garcia do s*** to keep the runner on.

From what I've found we're 21-13 when Widger starts behind the plate. Not too shabby.

QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ Sep 15, 2005 -> 11:04 AM) Yeah Hermy really f***ed me in era last night. I traded Mariano Rivera for Clemens when Halladay went down. I have Hermy, Coco Cordero and Fernando Rodney and they never seem to pitch in games. I got a lot of mileage out of Dustin but he;s just been an absent fantasy closer since June or so Yeah, I've got Hermanson, Cordero, BJ Ryan, K-Rod and Huston Street. Huston didn't give me much at the beginning as well as Hermanson however Ryan and Cordero were ridiculous then but have cooled off opertunity wise over the past few months.

QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Sep 15, 2005 -> 12:10 AM) For 10 games, sure. But they aren't an .800 caliber team in the playoffs. Their picthing won't hold up, IMHO. Why would their pitching falter? It hasn't yet in the second half, I expect it to stay solid just as it has been. The main knock against the Indians according to the Cleveland media is their inconsistent offense, which is playing consitently well right now.
-
So what you're say is our 12-16 August had nothing to do with our downfall? And losing 10 games to the Indians is nothing to be worried about. And we shouldn't worry about the next 2 weeks because we're playing teams that we've dominated this year yet can't seem to hold a lead Vs the Royals. So Cleveland is going to cool off right? Right? They were supposed to cool off over 2 weeks ago but just havn't gotten around to it yet. And yet after all that... IMO, we'll win the division. The playoffs on the other hand are a totally different story considering we can't seem to beat playoff teams during the regular season consistantly. Oh yeah. Welcome to Soxtalk
