  1. QUOTE (SOXOBAMA @ Jan 10, 2012 -> 02:45 PM) My prediction for this weekend is 49ers 27 Saints 23 Our special teams will come up big this weekend.. Lee is the best punter in the league New Orleans has NEVER won a playoff game on the road............no shock to me I took SF and the points.
  2. Raiders fired coach Hue Jackson. We knew this was a realistic possibility once the Raiders brought in GM Reggie McKenzie, as Jackson was still fighting for more power with owner Mark Davis. Had Jackson made the playoffs and not ransacked the franchise's future for Carson Palmer, there's a good chance he'd still be in charge. Packers LBs coach Winston Moss and DBs coach Darren Perry have been mentioned as potential replacements. Fantasy-wise, the coaching change is bad news for Darren McFadden and the Oakland receivers, as Jackson maximized their talents with creative scheming and aggressive play-calling. Rotoworld Trading the first round picks for Palmer is 100% on Jackson.
  3. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jan 10, 2012 -> 12:31 PM) There are 4 or 5 McCaskey boys, and there are grandkids. Unless there is some crazy scenario where they all decide to sell(the family owns an 80 percent stake in the Bears), you better sit back and accept the fact that the McCaskeys will be at the top of the organizational pyramid for the rest of your days Very true sadder words have NEVER been written in this thread!
  4. A source tells the Indianapolis Star that Kerry Collins didn't actually have "concussion-like symptoms" when the Colts sent him to injured reserve in late October. Collins saw the writing on the wall, realized he wasn't helping a team going nowhere, and reportedly approached the front office about letting him retire in Nashville. The source also indicated that Collins gave the Colts "a break" on the $4 million contract signed just before the start of the season. Rotoworld Colts should be fined heavily for faking IR injuries.
  5. http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/colle...0,4833453.story Illini cannot even get Prater to look at them with new coach and a spread offense.
  6. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Jan 10, 2012 -> 09:00 AM) Rumor is that there is a VERY high probability of a BCS playoff system coming after the current BCS contract is up. Hope they do it right and not a halfass solution!
  7. Chicago will be without Patrick Sharp for the next three-to-four weeks because of what is believed to be a hand or wrist injury. He scored his 20th goal of the season on Sunday, but Detroit's Jiri Hudler slashed him on his wrist as he fired the shot. Sharp stayed the game and later tumbled during a penalty kill. He landed on his hands. The good news is that he won't need surgery. This is an unfortunate blow to Sharp, who might have surpassed his career-high of 36 goals if he had stayed healthy. Rotoworld
  8. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jan 8, 2012 -> 03:13 PM) Go tebow. Beat the rapist. You are a horrible qb at this stage in your career but a tremendOus human being. Can they both lose!
  9. According to ESPN's Chris Mortensen, Colts owner Jim Irsay "will never trade" Peyton Manning. Mort also reports both Irsay and Manning have emphatically denied discussing pushing back the March 8 due date for Manning's $28 million option bonus. The duo will "jointly determine" Manning's future, and the matter of Manning's potential release remains a "medical issue" for the time being. Our best guess remains that Manning will be released just before or on March 8. Per Rotoworld Who knows really should be real interesting come March.
  10. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jan 6, 2012 -> 01:10 PM) Padres gave up on Rizzo quick. Its very amusing to me when GMs/scouts switch jobs, then just start signing & trading for all the players from their old team. That is why the Sox are trading with Toronto over and over......................good trade for the Cubs.
  11. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Jan 5, 2012 -> 06:06 PM) Twitter handle of this guy is http://twitter.com/brboiler2013 Basically, he claims that his cousin is Gavin's wife, and his sister lives next door to them in Florida, and that's how he knows this is going down. Only thing that makes me question it is whether the player being traded would be told something as specific as "you and cash were traded to Toronto for Drabek and McGuire." Does a player always get told those kinds of details??? Candy-O I need you so!
  12. QUOTE (103 mph screwball @ Jan 5, 2012 -> 12:17 PM) I don't think KW has to trade Floyd. They are going to have to give up somebody to make it worth the Sox while and they will need to outbid the other Eastern division teams. If KW does move Floyd and Crain/Thornton, I'll bet he will be in a position to spend. E Jax and Cespedes could very well be part of the Sox retool. Danks and Jackson will anchor the rotation for the next 5 years with Sale, Humber, and the best of the boatload of pitching that KW has acquired this off season. They will be set up pretty well for the future and still have a chance to win their division this year if Dunn and Rios play closer to their career averages. EJAX will not be back in any way shape or form.
  13. QUOTE (striker @ Jan 5, 2012 -> 11:03 AM) @FarrellBall (1/3/2012) Source: #Jays seem to be pushing harder for Gavin Floyd over the last 48 hours.. McGuire seems to be the centerpiece to a potential trade. @FarrellBall (1/1/2012) Source: The #Jays have strong interest in SP Gavin Floyd from the #WhiteSox.. Rumblings of McGuire or Wojciechowski... Just because Sox hire guy from Toronto does not mean we have to get every minor league spec he likes. McGuire has been a disappointment so far has been passed over time and time again.
  14. Cubs wanted Big Z gone and paid heavy salary wise to do it.
  15. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Jan 4, 2012 -> 03:04 PM) Does Iran shut down the Strait of Hormuz now? Iran will pay a big price If they are that stupid!
  16. Jon Tenuta, who was hired as Illinois defensive coordinator on Tuesday, will instead remain at North Carolina State “From the top, I want to say that Illinois is a great program and I think the world of Tim Beckman,” Tenuta said. “I’ve known Beck for 20 years and I have no doubt that with the staff he is putting together, he will have Illinois at the top of the Big Ten very soon. However, my family comes first and I may have made a decision without fully thinking through the situation with them. My son is a senior in high school and has signed a letter of intent to play baseball at N.C. State, and it is something I just don’t want to miss. I was one of the first people to contact Beck and congratulate him on the opportunity at Illinois, and I wish him and the Illini nothing but the best Beckman era well under way
  17. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jan 4, 2012 -> 08:58 AM) If it was simply a case of telling him to leave his kid at home I think he would still be employed by the Colts. Seems like they are a package deal. Then I do not want him or his kid.
  18. Angelo was pathectic glad he is gone!
  19. Big Ten teams clock management is horrid................Wisky latest victim.
  20. QUOTE (zenryan @ Jan 2, 2012 -> 01:54 PM) I wonder which team will be dumb enough to overspend on Matt Flynn. Reminds me of the Scott Mitchell deal when Detroit signed him for big bucks and he was a bust!
  21. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 1, 2012 -> 02:45 PM) Andrew Luck is a Colt. That sucks Irsay did not deserve another franchise QB.............I hate the f***ing Irsay's. No team is better winning meaningless games week 17 too screw up there draft position than the Bears year after year.
  22. By trading Frasor and the arbitration-eligible Quentin, the club has saved roughly $11.25MM in 2012. Per MLB Trade Rumors
  23. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 1, 2012 -> 12:44 PM) THis is not a "Bigtime salary dump". It's clearing out a guy who was slightly overpaid. Not just talking about this trade.
  24. Salary dump 101 is on bigtime.
  25. •The early word from scouts is that Castro and Hernandez don't have much upside, which indicates that this was a payroll move, tweets ESPN.com's Buster Olney.
