QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Apr 1, 2008 -> 04:37 PM) Just out of curiosity, when is the last time this board, or really any board, got up in arms about a no call on an interference play at 2nd base? There are some plays that you never get up in arms about unless it's unbelievably obvious or a guy gets hurt. If an Indian did that against us and it broke up a DP, we'd probably have been pissed at Uribe for not getting the job done. A similar one is the "Tagging 2nd on a double play turn" call. Probably could call that on half or more of double plays, but no one ever gets pissed when it's not called. Excellent point. Yesterday on one of these threads I brought up the phantom base tag and it's hypocritical of umpires allowing that, but calling intereference on Cabrera's play. Yes we probably would be yelling at Uribe for not turning the play.

QUOTE(Shamrock4Life @ Apr 1, 2008 -> 02:00 PM) I disagree with the call, but cabrera is a dumbass for sliding in like that. I agree, I know Thome was running but it looks like he might've had a shot to beat it out anywys with it being that slow of a grounder. It looked like Cabrerra was going after his ankle.

I'm getting thinner, but my weight is staying the same. I'm probably getting muscle back into my legs from all of this biking I'm doing. I bike every day, but the past 2 weeks I've kicked it into gear big time.

I won't lie, it was a great game to watch. Controversy is always entertaining. I hope this is the return of our offense.

QUOTE(DABearSoX @ Mar 31, 2008 -> 05:32 PM) Pretty sure he was out at first, the slide was a bunch of BS, but its up to the judgment of the ump, the call at home was unacceptable....You could make an argument that all three were wrong, in my opinion only Orlando's slide and the call at home were bulls***.....thats still 66.6%...totally ridic for a major league umpiring crew.... hell of an opening day.... it was a hell of an opening day even though we lost. it was fun to watch the whole time. In Hawks terms, you win 60 and you lose 60, it's what you do with the other 42. Well in my opinion this was on of those other 42.

They can call interference at 2nd base, even if it was intentional, but they still let phantom double play turns go.

White Sox @ Indians - Opening Day Game Thread
Nothing pisses me off more than umps taking the game away. I hate to complain about officiating in any fashion, and I know there are other elements that can change a game, but when 2 or 3 runs are taken away from a team in the 7th and 8th innings, that's bulls***.

White Sox @ Indians - Opening Day Game Thread
I wish they'd keep track of teams having back calls for and against them. See who'd be at the top and at the bottom. I'm not saying the Sox would be at the top of the list or what, but it'd be interesting to see some stat like that.

I hate my life. I get excited for this day every year and even though our pitching and defense has sucked today, umping was been far worse.

White Sox @ Indians - Opening Day Game Thread
I hope these umps see all 3 calls. Mainly the one at first and home, not the judgement calls.
