  1. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Aug 9, 2006 -> 09:09 PM) Pathetic excuse. One I'm not subscribing to. It's essentially shrugging your shoulders if they lose. "Oh well." I expect consistent starting pitching from a rotation (supposedly) molded from the hand of GOD. If they're failing to achieve expectations -- that is, pitch atleast around career averages -- I'm not going to be very pleased and rest upon last years achievements. The hell I'm saying oh well. I'm just as angry as anyone else. But what I'm even more angry about are whiners on here. Unlike others I just believe the Sox will be tough down the stretch.
  2. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 9, 2006 -> 09:01 PM) What could have been? Why not appreciate how everything fell into place last year? This year, we're not creating/getting breaks, and we're having a lot of pitchers underachieve. I'm the last person to say that we should still live in 2005....but some people need a little perspective these days. Thank you. At least we have a few reasonable people here.
  3. I'm getting so angry with people on here saying we're done. If we're done then why bother even posting or keeping up with the team? This is my 3rd season here on Soxtalk and it seems like this by far has the most whiners about how the Sox are playing. Sure they're suppose to be playing better, I'm not saying they are. But it's just hard for me to read all of the negative things about this team. After tonight we'll probably be a half game out to the Twins in the Wild Card. There's still plenty of baseball left. And even if they don't make the playoffs, they just won the World Series for everyone last year. Sure I'd love another playoff appearance or even another World Series title but come on, they snapped an 88 year drought.
  4. Twins won, damnit.
  5. So why did the real Randy Johnson come to play tonight?
  6. QUOTE(Benchwarmerjim @ Aug 9, 2006 -> 08:28 PM) Justin Morneau just became the first Twins hitter since 1987 (!!!) to have a 30 home run season he hit a 2 run jack off Zumaya to put the Twins ahead 4-3 in the 8th he is putting up a MVP-type season avg above .320 30 HR 101 RBI It's an MVP season, but no one matches Ortiz.
  7. I just knew Abreu would get his homer against us.
  8. There's a walk. How about another hit Jermaine? Please?????
  9. QUOTE(WSoxMatt @ Aug 8, 2006 -> 08:46 PM) Remember when a guy would be traded from the NL to the AL and his stats would start from 0...when did this change..I noticed Wilson officially gets credit for #14, but #1 in the AL I remember that too. But it said that it was Abreu's 3rd stolen base this season earlier in the game. Even though he had 20 with the Phillies, so it doesn't sound like it's very consistant.
  10. QUOTE(WilliamTell @ Aug 8, 2006 -> 08:23 PM) hit a homer right now Joe. What can I say, it was a feeling I had, lol.
  11. hit a homer right now Joe.
  12. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 8, 2006 -> 08:21 PM) Some pathetic swings on hitters counts. There's been 3 times tonight where one of our hitters could have easily taken one for the team. I was thinking that too. But I wasn't going to say anything since Dye's been the man on this team lately. AJ swung at a ball right there.
  13. QUOTE(PA32R @ Aug 8, 2006 -> 08:18 PM) hmmm... i've been using haha I was using Pluto's orbit around the sun, but I got bored waiting.
  14. Nice to see Freddy get a 1-2-3 inning.
  15. Right now we'd be in 3rd place in the division, and in the wild card, let's get going Sox.
  16. Another run squandered away.
  17. QUOTE(South Side Fireworks Man @ Aug 8, 2006 -> 08:09 PM) Good to see Tadahito go from first to third on that single. Wow I didn't even realize that, I just figured he'd stop at 2nd. Way to go Tads!
  18. Way to work against the shift Jim.
  19. Thought that was going to be called a strike.
  20. We could easily have 5 runs this game but we seem to want to mess up.
  21. hip hip hooray, we're losing
  22. QUOTE(Benchwarmerjim @ Aug 8, 2006 -> 07:00 PM) its offical now http://www.startribune.com/509/story/602878.html either Bonser or Baker will take the roster spot They're both not exactly Liriano, haha. But I've seen both start games this year in the 2 games I've gone to see.
  23. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Aug 8, 2006 -> 07:49 PM) Anyone want to bet that Abreu breaks his 150 at bat homerless streak this inning> Maybe not this inning but I'm guessing this series for sure.
  24. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Aug 8, 2006 -> 07:48 PM) Ozzie pretty much sends someone always when there are 2 outs, and a guy on first. I know, but still it didn't pay off and it's added to the list.
  25. We've had a lot of problems this game already. Error to begin with, should've been at 3rd to lead off the bottom of the 1st, double play with the bases loaded and no outs, caught stealing at 2nd. That's a big list for only 2 innings.
