I'd like to make a small correction to that statement: The hatred for this retard is growing COUNTRY-WIDE. I'm in New York and I cannot stand this idiot. The problem is, if people stop listening to him in Chicago, he'll still have a national audience because ESPN, for some reason, keeps inviting him back on the air to share his "views". The great thing is he gets his sorry narrow-minded and uninformed ass kicked every day on Around the Horn. The bad thing is, he's getting national exposure. As they say in show business - there is no bad publicity. As long as you're getting publicity, it's all good.

http://chicago.whitesox.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb...s_cws&fext=.jsp Even though he's lost some velocity, he thinks his problems stem from the fact that hitters know his cut fastball is his featured pitch, so he's elected to stop featuring it, thus leading to his pre-2003 problems - hitters keying on his fastball and changeup. IMHO, USE WHAT WORKS!! Sheesh, how many times does it have to be said??? Keep doing the same thing until the hitters prove they can hit it! My God, it took him 1/2 a season to figure this out? Cooper should have been POUNDING this into his head from Day One. Loaiza's success last year could be directly attributed to the development and frequent use of the cut fastball. It goes without saying that if he wants continued success, keep using it!! We'll see what happens in Part 2 of the 2004 season. I hope he does regain the confidence in his pitches like he had in 2003, it'll make the rotation all the stronger.

Yea tell me about it I have Carpenter on one of my fantasy teams and I needed him to get a low ERA so I could gain another point in my head-to-head matchup. Well, I sure f***ed THAT up, didn't I? He's been stellar all year and finishing off the Cubbies before the Yankee-Star break would've been sweet, on top of enhancing my fantasy standings. I was up against Ben Sheets AND Jason Schmidt this week - man did I need a good performance out of him tonight. AAARRRGGGHHH!!
-
5 Ks on the first 5 batters faced? He definitely *had* it, but I think Corky took stole it and put it in his bat

Mother F..... 4-0 Fuzzy Cubbies :finger
-
I've adopted the St. Louis Cardinals as my second favorite team this year for two reasons: they are rocking the NL and they're the Cubs archrival in the NL Central. I'm looking for a Cardinals sweep tonight, and a big night from Chris Carpenter, so I'm running a Carpenter vs. the Fuzzy Cubbies strikeout watch. 1st inning K - J. Macias K - M. Grudzielanek K - C. Patterson 2nd inning K - S. Sosa K - M. Alou 3rd inning K- K. Wood

Does Mark have a shot at 20 Wins...
BuehrleTheAce replied to AngelasDaddy0427's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Don't forget the shortened rotation that the Sox have already had, plus the fact that most 1-3 starters get between 34-35 starts per year. In the past 4 years, Mark has had 32 (2001), 35 (2002), 34 (2003), and 19 (2004) starts. In his 19 starts this year, he's gone 9-2 with 8 no decisions. He has 14-16 starts left, assuming he stays healthy. He'll need to go 11-3 - 11-5 in those starts to reach 20 wins. Incidentally, the team is 5-3 in the games in which he's had no decision. -
With inspiration from a famous commercial: "If Shingo was a woman, I'd marry him". Back in first at the Yankee-Star break!

Well, either the players are too stubborn to listen to Walker about good hitting practices or that's all he's telling them to do. One way, he's not getting their attention; the other way he's not coaching effectively.
-
With Walker seemingly preaching the long ball, at least Davis could make his at bats exciting. After all, mile high pop ups can sometimes drop for an infield single But anyone has to be better than Burke behind the plate. I wonder if Brook Fordyce wants to come back to the Southside???
-
Now we just need to get Lee to be Lee, Valentin to be Valentin, Mags to be Mags, and Rowand to be Rowand and we'll be ok Great team win tonight. Sweep tomorrow!
-
Yea Mags has clinical dry-eye. I heard Hawk talk about it once earlier this year. It's an actual diagnosis or something.
-
There were 37,000 at the game tonight?!?! Make that 37,000 plus 1 ... I was there in spirit

Shingo! Shingo! Shingo!

The anemic offense today is very disturbing. These hitters are damn lucky Buehrle is pitching so well. I can't believe we couldn't get to either of these pitchers aside from the walks.
-
He's definitely settled down since the early going. I'd like to see him get some more Ks, but as long as he puts the dawg down and keeps him down, I'll be happy.
-
How is it that this momo with a 7.71 ERA and a .333 BA against is handling our hitters like this? This is ridiculous. These guys should be batting around every inning. Even with Burke in the 9 hole.
-
Walked Boone then got Martinez to ground into a DP. End of the 8th.
-
Carlos hits a 3 run HR! Mags and Rowand in to score! Sox lead 6-1!!
-
Mags singled, Rowand to third, El Caballo at the plate.
-
Bottom of the 7th, Harris fouled out, Perez flied out, Rowand singled. Mags at the plate.
-
It's great seeing Mags pay instant dividends in his first game back from a lengthy DL trip. It's also great to see the offense continuing what they started last night. Carlos is getting a hot bat again, and this time they're leaving the park. Now THAT'S a wonderful sight!

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone. I'm DevilishDude over at ESPN. It's my username for the New Jersey Devils board, and I just used the same nick when I signed up at the ChiSox forum. I figured a more Sox-appropriate name was due here

Yea I know, he was a rental. My prior post mentioned I didn't like rentals or 1 year signings. Colon didn't like our offer, suckered the Angels into paying his fee, and they're now suffering the consequences. I hope Halladay and the Jays whip his ass tonight, and not just because I've got Roy on one of my fantasy teams
