White Sox vs. Royals, 5/12/07 (W)

QUOTE(Capn12 @ May 12, 2007 -> 07:18 PM) DJ seriously, shut the hell up. "Must be scary as an opposing pitcher having to come in and face this offense, knowing it can be when you are on the hill that they break out." Bulls***. The best hitting coach is baseball needs to get a snake charmer, a priest, Tom Skilling, and a few others to help him cure some sort of voodoo hex on our club. -

Long looping swing by Mackowiak. Long looping swing by Mackowiak for strike 2. Both pitches down the middle. DJ starts the Cy Youngification of Scott Earlton. -

QUOTE(kyyle23 @ May 12, 2007 -> 07:14 PM) That was fun. Nothing like turning a 2 run lead into a 2 run deficit Dont worry, this is where the bats pick up the pitcher. /vomits -

QUOTE(TitoMB345 @ May 12, 2007 -> 07:13 PM) No way, we've given him our 2 runs for the day. I expect nothing more. Cy Elarton is just too good. If they do not put up 6 runs minimum on Earlton then Walker should quit. -

Now with 4 runs up on the board, can the corpseball kids come back. Can we score more than "gasp" 3 runs in a game. -

So some bad pitcher, who just came off the DL for his first start of the season has held the corpseball kids to 2 runs, even though the Royals have basically tried to hand us a lot of runs. -

Its nice to see a power hitter like Sweeney for KC going the other way. He doesnt get greedy. Just puts wood on the ball. Our hitters should take note. 2 runs isnt going to hold up. This f***ing offense better get their heads out of their asses. -

QUOTE(mr_genius @ May 12, 2007 -> 07:01 PM) i can't blame walker for the loopy, slow swing. it seems to show up in all of our prospects before Walker gets a hold of em. sweeney has had a high contact low power swing his entire minor league career. he is the exact opposite of what we usually bring up. if his swing gets magically longer, and they start to talk up his new found power then you know what happened. -

QUOTE(danman31 @ May 12, 2007 -> 06:58 PM) He swung much harder than I've ever seen him swing on that 1st strike. If walker is trying to f*** his swing up, while other guys on this team cannot hit and our batting average is last in the american league, he is begging for a pink slip. -

QUOTE(fathom @ May 12, 2007 -> 06:52 PM) Sweeney's swing definitely seemed longer and not smooth. Hawk was talking about how in batting practice he saw some power by Sweeney and how he can hit 20-25 homers. Let the kid first learn how to hit at the majors consistantly before we start to jack his swing. -

QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ May 12, 2007 -> 06:46 PM) It may be my imagination, but there appeared to be something different about Sweeney's swing his last AB. I'll have to pay closer attention his next time up. From first glance, his three swings just didn't look right. A hitting coach that shall remain nameless better be working with our power hitters not hitting, and not trying to elongate and f*** up another swing. -

QUOTE(Kalapse @ May 11, 2007 -> 01:22 PM) There are A LOT of people out there and on here specifically that think homeruns are a bad thing. There's no way for me to know if you're one of them and just in case there were some who read your post and agreed that homeruns are bad my reply was meant to set them straight. Home runs are a great thing. However going up to the plate and "trying" to hit one, or more to the point "everytime" you go up to the plate you swing for the fences is counterproductive. Our park plays small enough that if you just try and make solid contact, a lot of those well hit balls will go out of the park. -

The propaganda machine is out in full force trying to convince everyone that the corpseball attack you see is an offense coming out of slumber. -

The offense is showing signs of life? DJ stop smoking crack. One solo homer, and a few gift errors by the Royals doesnt speak to showing signs of life. thank god our pitching has been great. Greg Walker should be unemployed right now. -

Pablo's moronic slide screwing with us, as the tying run is out there with the winning run at the plate. I keep replaying that slide, cheat you need to find that on YouTube and put it up on your site. Thats horrible. -

That was the dumbest slide attempt I have seen a sox player in a long time. Wow. You try to sneak your foot in where the catchers foot is. Whoopsie, the catcher was up the line a bit. The plate was 3 feet on the other side. -

QUOTE(Capn12 @ May 11, 2007 -> 09:12 PM) Ass flailing, foot in bucket swing there, Dye... Remember the numbers on the back of the card don't lie /Greg Walker Turns Paul Konerkos card, ha look 2003 .234. How can he have hit .234 in the middle of hitting good all his career. How does that happen. Peralta has the flattest slider that I have seen taken for a strike. Make contact Paully. To the right side would be great. -

QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ May 11, 2007 -> 09:08 PM) /tips cap at Perez LOL You know he is not just a pitcher, but a big league pitcher who pitches well. /Hawkgetsoffhisownknobb We should of rocked this guy back to the stone age. Jermaine Dye needs new contacts or something. When you miss straight meatball down the cock you need to stop tipping your cap, and start to hit. -

Low and In,its amazing that pitchers throw lefties low and in still. It wasnt a hanger. AJ waited back on it, and turned on it. Nice piece of hitting there. -

Numbers never matter when it comes to Hawk. Unless of course those numbers are in our favor. Then numbers are the biggest thing we have. God this offense is a joke. -

QUOTE(fathom @ May 11, 2007 -> 07:31 PM) Why can't we ever get hits against LHP? Lots of uppercut swings so far tonight. Even Hawk is talking about them attempting to lift everything. We come home and the softball team shows up. -
Throwing a baseball overhand is unnatural and is not how our bodies were designed to work. Due to this injuries will always happen. You can mitigate the risk by using different methods and also genetics doesn't hurt also. I threw over the top, pretty much near the 12 o'clock position with a high leg kick very similar to the pendulum method that they are raving about. It allowed me to throw hard for my frame type, and it allowed me to throw a very good 12/6 curveball and split/forkball. However it didn't do anything for my shoulder/elbow as I still go injured. The only thing I can say is that stretching, long toss with velocity, and some of the exercises used in Tommy John rehab/what he talks about in that video can help you with velocity. Pedro Martinez became a hard thrower by lots and lots of long toss. He was documented as that is what he did to get into the upper 90s. I increased my velocity in one year by 7 mph by gaining height(late growth after high school), throwing a metal ball about the size of a baseball for 10 minutes a day, and using an extensive long toss throwing program for 6 months. We used to fill a coke can with sand, tape it up with duct tape, and throw it end over end in the back yard to get used to "pulling down the shade" on the curveball. The best thing for my forkball was listening to Donn Paul give a clinic on using a softball to practice spreading out your fingers. One method doesn't help all. I think you have to hybrid what works for the individual.

I love mine. However I only use it when I drive, or when I am on call for work and have to type on my laptop to fix something, while talking to someone that doesn't speak too good of English at 3am. Outside of that I don't use it. From a security standpoint the things scare the crap out of me at the corporate level. Not for phones mind you, but for laptops with bluetooth installed.
