White Sox vs. Yankees, 5/16/07 Lets Play Two!! (W), (L)

The hitters are making mental notes on the sox. Wow wind blowing out, if I can only lift and pull more. -

QUOTE(fathom @ May 16, 2007 -> 09:51 PM) They weren't huge though. PK took a nice swing, as he was able to elevate the ball. He's a bad match-up against Wang though, as he knows if he hits the low sinker, it's an automatic double play. Mackowiak had a good approach at the first pitch, he just popped it up. It was foul....tell the Yankees announcers to go back to fellating Clemens. At least during the corpseball era, they'd break out once or twice a week and score 10 runs in a game. These guys are consistently mediocre. When was the last time we scored 10 runs. -

QUOTE(Kalapse @ May 16, 2007 -> 09:48 PM) It's too f***ing wet out there. And dark, way too dark. We need to hire someone outside of the organization for the next hitting instructor. The lift and pull long looping swing poison is deeply rooted in the minors here. Someone that can teach a line drive swing, and that right field is not out, you can hit to all fields. -

I wonder what the excuse for our rotten offense will be next. -

QUOTE(Heads22 @ May 16, 2007 -> 09:41 PM) The Charlotte Knights might be worse. Well the twins have been a success by making their minors emulate their majors so the kids can learn how to play major league baseball. We are trying to bring corpseball to all levels of our system. The basics of the long looping swing. How to lift and pull. -

QUOTE(Kalapse @ May 16, 2007 -> 09:39 PM) Aren't the Sox pretty much the worst team in baseball at Getting 'em on, Getting 'em over and Getting 'em in? The commercial makes no sense. They show a guy with an OBP sub 300. At least Pods could claim injury last year when he was sub 300 OBP. Grinderstad is healthy I guess. -

QUOTE(santo=dorf @ May 16, 2007 -> 09:38 PM) What kind of package do you think we could've received for Crede this past offseason? Well if he hits like this for the rest of the season a bag of baseballs. -

Put your hands together for the worst offense in the majors, stranding more runners in scoring position with no outs. Keep swinging for the fences boys, and then blame weather, depression, curses and whatever for your struggles instead of trying to hit every f***ing pitch over the fence. -

It would be nice if our guys didnt try and hit f***ing home runs when we have guys in scoring position. -

QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ May 16, 2007 -> 09:26 PM) By all means, I can't defend his error-that-wasn't there. I just disagree that his bat has been "s***ty" all season. Sub 300 OBP sucks. And it only wasnt an error because he misplayed it so much. Uribes ball that he called off everyone, and then let it bounce near him wasnt an error also, nor was the Pods bounce off of his melon earlier. -

QUOTE(TheOcho @ May 16, 2007 -> 03:37 PM) Not sure if he got the tag on him... Rob out at 2nd. Guillen has to revisit this strategy. He is way too automatic. You have 2 outs and a man on first, he is always and I mean always running. The catcher and the pitcher have the advantage when you know its coming. -
QUOTE(watchtower41 @ May 16, 2007 -> 12:51 PM) They just said on the radio, you can go to today's game and still exchange last night's ticket for ANY premier game left on the schedule. Good call. Here is the email reply from an account rep. This is a first class move. Brooks again just gets it.

QUOTE(GreatScott82 @ May 16, 2007 -> 03:17 PM) Danks is getting better and better each time he goes out there. I hope he will be rested enough to go back out there on sunday. This kids MO, is that he is the youngest kid at whatever level he is at, he takes his lumps getting better, and then at the end of the year he does well. -
QUOTE(smalls2598 @ May 16, 2007 -> 12:17 PM) I sent an email to Brooks, and received this reply (and i am definitely happy with it) "We just released our exchange ticket policy for last night. If you cannot make today’s game, you will be able to exchange your ticket for the best available upper deck ticket for tonight’s game, tomorrow’s game, any of the Yankees games in June, the Twins in July or the Tigers in July. Hopefully, our fans will see this as fair." If thats the case, Brooks is the best. I just emailed my account rep to ask that question. The people at the park were extremely black and white on this last night.

May 15th "gas protest" nonsense

QUOTE(Balance @ May 16, 2007 -> 11:32 AM) The only real solution is to use less oil. We need to start using energy sources other than oil to power our automobiles. Great idea. Now here is the problem. What is this energy source? Can it be mass produced? Can you get filling stations to retrofit so it can deliver it? What is the cost of this source? What is the cost to the average American to replace or retrofit their vehicles to run on this energy source. What is the environmental costs of mass production of this new "green" energy source. Until these are answered, America is still going to use Oil at a high demand. So we need to address oil production still until an alternative can be named. -

QUOTE(Jenksismyb**** @ May 16, 2007 -> 10:32 AM) This entire thread is pointless. We all know the real solution: Alaska. There is also some possibilities off the Florida coast, but they are blocked to drill by our laws. Meanwhile the Chinese are drilling on an angle so they can stay outside of our waters, while drilling our oil. Very shady. Why not reap the rewards ourselves if the risk is already there from the Chinese drilling. Bush needs to pull rank on his brother. This is in the interest of national security that we explore any areas of oil in the area. If its under our nose, and other countries are drilling there or going to drill there. Then we are stupid not to do it. The risk is still there. They are going to drill. So its not like our drilling is going to hurt anything. Debbie, they are going to drill. Just because you cant see the oil rig, the oil drill is on an angle and is still stick itself below your waters. So the environmental disaster can still happen. This is a mess up on both sides of the aisle here. This is like Ted Kennedy talking about being green, and then not wanting windmills because it spoils his views. -

QUOTE(NUKE @ May 16, 2007 -> 09:04 AM) This is pretty much the same thing I've said about high gas prices all along. If you wan't to drive the big SUV, that's great ( I own an SUV ) but don't come crying to me when gas goes up and you have to pay more to fuel it. That's hypocrasy and it also runs contrary to my beliefs about personal responsibility. Well people should do some research when they want to buy an SUV or larger vehicle. Not all of them are total pigs. The SUV's that are based on a car frame have a better fuel economy than the traditional ones based on the truck frame. Using a CVT transmission is another thing that helps with gas millage, however a lot of people dont like the CVT transmission because the car has a different feel when you accelerate. When we stared to have children we wanted a bigger vehicle, however I didn't want to empty the bank on filling up the tank. So we did a ton of research and found the vehicle that fit our requirements the best. We went with the 2004 Nissan Murrano with CVT transmission. It gets 24 hwy/20 cty mpg, which compared to my car a 99 Honda Accord that gets 28 hwy/20 cty mpg isn't that far off. The difference annually is about 250 dollars a year in gas costs. I drive my Accord a lot farther than my wife drives the Murrano, and I fill up more. And yes I could go out and drop a lot of money on a new car that gets better gas mileage, however I bought my Honda because the damn thing drives forever. I have 140k miles on it, and it drives and looks like its brand new. I cant justify dropping 30k on a new car, so I can save 200 dollars a year at the pump. -
QUOTE(RX Bandits @ May 15, 2007 -> 10:53 PM) thanks, i read all that stuff on the ticket, but figured i would ask for sure. im irritated because these seats were lower deck and i have not sat lower deck in 3 years or so. I have 2 lower deck games in my plan. One for the Yanks and one for the Redsox. I get boned on one of them.

QUOTE(Dick Allen @ May 15, 2007 -> 10:03 PM) I was there and this is the most ridiculous postponement I have ever witnessed. I had no hat. I had no umbrella, I watched most of the Bulls game from my seat exposed to all elements, and while I was a little damp, if you looked at me, you would have no idea I was out in a 2 hour rain delay. In fact, you would not be able to tell I was in the rain for 2 minutes. If they started at 7:30, the game would not have been delayed. The clubbies were dumping the gatorade coolers about 45 minutes before Gene Honda announced the postponement, which occurred at around 9:15, about the time they said the rain would stop. It was not raining at all when said announcement was made. Its also suspiciously about the same time beer sales would end and the hot dog stands would shut down had the game started on time. When we left, 1 minute after the announcement, the Yankees were already on their bus. I also have a problem with having the make-up date the next day. This isn't Wrigleyville, Sox fans have to go to work. They were actually a trio. Best damn seats in my Ozzie freakin plan and I get jobbed like this. They could of played. It was a mist if anything. And the best part is I get charged 2 bucks per ticket to transfer them to my brother over email. Nothing like squeezing blood out of the turnip. I have 2 meetings in the afternoon that I cannot reschedule or I would of taken off. There were a ton of people livid on this. -
QUOTE(RX Bandits @ May 15, 2007 -> 10:37 PM) since tuesdays game was rained out...and i have four tickets to a game that i cannot make, is there anything i can do to get a refund from the sox/ exchange for another game? the sox website is as useful as a bad of.... well you know...so i figured i would ask the masses here. thanks guys. The only way you get a refund is the game is not rescheduled as either a separate game or a split double header. However the game was scheduled as part of a day night double header. Your ticket is valid for tomorrows game only. I am kind of irritated because these were my best seating location in my Ozzie plan, Section 115. I just transfered them to my brother via my online account manager. He works nights and can actually go. The language is on the back of your ticket.

It was one of the most horrible things I have heard of, and I have seen a lot of horrible things in my previous occupation. These animals needs to be executed, and that is the end of it.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ May 15, 2007 -> 01:08 PM) Link. I wouldn't think it would be all that difficult to save on bandwith by simply restricting the rate at which certain pages can transfer. Indiana U did that all the way back in 2000 when Napster first started taking up its bandwith. The quick answer is that it doesnt work the same way. Your school is a lot closer(not as much delay), has a faster connection to the dedicated backbone, has a lot more peers to communicate with. So adding quality of service and restricting traffic has a small price on the overall health of the network. The longer answer is this. Delay is the real killer here, more than pure bandwidth. The further away you are, the longer the traffic takes. So as you saturate the link more, your tcp communications will start to drop here and there, and you will retransmit more and more. This slows down your connection, and also saturates the link with more traffic. To give you an example we have an office in australia. Its 267 ms to that office, no matter if you have a 2 meg link, or the new 10 meg link we installed at that office that had no effect on their performance. We had to buy expensive wan optimizers to help us function with our traffic over it. At that point we decided to restrict traffic so only business traffic would traverse over it, to get the best bang for our buck and help lessen the saturation and delay. The military is just doing the same thing. And is probably using expensive WAN optimizers just like we are to help their traffic move across the network faster. Remember the primary use of these links is for Military communications. They allow some web surfing, however if any of that traffic impedes on the primary use of the network you shut it off. I dont allow any of those sites here at my work, nor things like Skype, IM or anything fun. From the security standpont these sites are a killer as people can post up intellectual property or military secrets. Video is a pig from a bandwidth standpoint, no matter how you optimize it. -

Official Save Sweeney and Boot Terrero thread

QUOTE(fathom @ May 13, 2007 -> 11:09 PM) If Ozzie prefers Terrero over Sweeney, then those age-old conspiracies are going to start flowing again. Ozzie loves pinch runners. He answered his own question. We need guys who can take pitches and give good ABs. We dont need pinch runners. We have plenty on this team.
