  1. Month of May AL Central hitting Detroit .326 Cleveland .278 Minny .268 Royals .249 Bridgeport Girl Scout Troop .216
  2. If we want to compete without an offense we need to petition Selig to move the sox to the NL right now. The American league hits, and no matter how good your pitching is eventually you will need your offense to man up and score you some runs. The fact that they keep talking about flipping f***ing baseball cards and all is well is dumb. The offense is getting worse, the Royals got torched last week and our pedestrian offense is making them look great.
  3. Lefties hit De La Rosa better than righties, yet our brilliant lineup is righty dominant. Maybe looking at splits might be something the whitesox front office might want to take a look at. Sometimes stats dont lie.
  4. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ May 13, 2007 -> 01:43 PM) What the f*** goes on in the White Sox front office? They are looking at the backs of all the players baseball cards waiting for them to come out of it on their own. Any other team, and Greg Walker is looking for another job.
  5. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ May 12, 2007 -> 09:58 PM) Are you kidding me? Erstad is twice the first baseman Paul "No range" Konerko is. Obviously you don't move him to first if you don't have to but if it's got to be done it's definitely an upgrade. Erstad is twice the first baseman Pauly is. I suggest you rethink that one. Pauly has pretty soft hands over at 1st.
  6. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ May 12, 2007 -> 09:58 PM) We all remember the Juan Uribe in 2004, in that 1st half of the season when he flew out of the blocks and was really a very good #2 hitter for us. This season he sort of reminds me of that type of hitter. He should be motivated since it's a contract year, and he's already taken 9 walks in 27 games this season when he ONLY had 13 all of last season. My question is, with the likes of Iguchi etc. not really grabbing a hold on that #2 spot and our offense struggling, if Uribe can keep hitting around the .260-.270 mark with some power, is he going to be able to stay in that spot? Or will his subpar OBP push him back down the lineup? I'd lean towards the latter scenario happening but with our offense the way it is, it wouldn't suprise me to see Uribe stick there for a while. Well this version of Uribe with the patience at the plate can bat 2. He should see a ton of fastballs with thome protecting him when he comes back.
  7. QUOTE(fathom @ May 12, 2007 -> 08:57 PM) Juan...just flip one over the right field fence. You are a f***ing warlock.
  8. QUOTE(danman31 @ May 12, 2007 -> 08:56 PM) I could very well see all 4 of those pitches to Sweeney being balls, wow. Strikeout number 3 in 30 ABs.
  9. Nice job of Iguchi to get on. Thank god we decided to take him out of the 2 hole and allow him to have more freedom to lift and pull.
  10. 6 hits against poo tonight. We are hitting .250 tonight against Old broken down poop and the therapy kid who got demoted from the Royals starting. Let me repeat that for you, he was demoted, from the Royals, pitching staff.
  11. QUOTE(fathom @ May 12, 2007 -> 08:46 PM) I might be the only one, but I want to see Sweeney swing harder and pull the ball. The only thing was that he didn't look smooth with his swing in his first AB. Uh no. We have enough of that approach on the team. Ask Gooch what pulling does. He has gotten progressively worse with his hitting as he has had more time to work with our coaches. His first time up against Johan santana he hits the ball the other way. Now 2 years later he looks just as foolish as pullem paulie.
  12. Before tonight, Cy Grienke has a WHIP of 1.79 and people hit .344 against him. Then he started using 9 arm angles and realized that he was pitching against Brownie troop 104 from Oak Lawn, and decided to work them over.
  13. I keep hearing from the parrot in the booth that we are snapping out of this offensive slumber. Well he is right, we are hitting .232 over the last 7 days, that is statistically up from the pathetic .213 BA that we are having on the month of May so far. Dont worry, flip their baseball cards over and imagine them hitting. Its what our coaching staff does. Maybe if we collectively wish they might hit a ball.
  14. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ May 12, 2007 -> 08:36 PM) Grienke's numbers coming in: 5.80 ERA, 1.79 WHIP So far after this game: 5.35 ERA, 1.68 WHIP People are hitting over 300 against him. Meanwhile, we are getting pitch by pitch radar gun reports of how hard Grienke is throwing by Hawk.
  15. This is the worst I have seen a whitesox offense since the white flag trade years.
  16. The theory of lift and pull as an offensive strategy needs to be put to bed on the southside forever. This is a f***ing joke that this craphole pitching staff of the Royals is holding us to 3 runs. The Tigers put a 9 spot on this crap, The indians would put a 9 spot on this. The aenmic Oakland offense torched them for 17 runs, and no they are looking like Cy Young again.
  17. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ May 12, 2007 -> 07:45 PM) LOL, it wasn't badly hit. You have to be kidding me. It was a perfect double play ball. Erstad couldn't have made it any easier for their defense. Situational hitting. You have a man on 3rd with less than two outs and a double play up. You then dip you back shoulder and try and lift the ball into the outfield. If you have a man on 3rd and no outs you hit the ball to the right side, or in his case pull it. Its adjusting, its what major leaguers are supposed to do, and they are supposed to know these situations before they come to the park.
  18. Now AJ needs to do that a bit more, and ditch the attempts to be Thome. Thats the hitter I want out of AJ. The guy AJ Just big leagued the kid.
  19. Nice homer by Sweeney. Walker will go up to him. Remember. Keep away from the snake charmer. He sells lies.
  20. We are too busy looking at baseball cards, looking at their previous seasons and are just waiting for previous editions of the players to show up.
  21. Scott E has pitched a turd tonight. A real hitting team would have had him in the showers around the 2nd wondering if he came off the DL too soong. Line drive swings are how you come out of a funk. Think back up the middle and oppo. If walk was really trying to get these guys out of the funk. He would have every hitter concentrating oppo all the time. And work on flip drills and isolate on keeping the back elbow up and driving down on the ball. Once they make solid contact for a while, then you start to work on driving it. When things fail in whatever sport, you break it down to fundamentals and work on simplifying it.
  22. On another team, Walk would of been fired already.
