White Sox vs. A's, 5/23/2007 (L)

QUOTE(greg775 @ May 23, 2007 -> 09:01 PM) The Sox bullpen is horrible. So lets wax the starters for 120 plus down a few runs. Sure that makes sense. Enjoy the DL time for most of your starters when you do that all the time. -

QUOTE(Brian @ May 23, 2007 -> 08:58 PM) Yeah, should of brought in the horrible bullpen to give up the runs. Well we could go back to the throw back days when our pitchers threw 130 to 150 pitches. He started the inning at near 110 pitches. Did you think good things were going to happen. -

QUOTE(Reddy @ May 23, 2007 -> 08:54 PM) yep 1 run on 3 hits... i mean it's not as bad as getting shut down by a guy with a 10 ERA but still... we should be able to manage 2 or 3 off this guy at the very least... So what 5 hits in 11 innings and 1 run. God this guy looks like a combination of Johan Santana, and Sandy Kofax. -

QUOTE(fathom @ May 23, 2007 -> 08:52 PM) Gaudin's good enough without our hitters swinging at everything from their heads to their feet. This has been the problem for the last 7 weeks, not the weather, not their heads. Just expanding the zone, trying to park pitches all over the place. There is no reason that we are getting 2 hit by this guy. I could care how great everyone makes him out to be. People hit him. They might not score a ton of runs off of him. But this is embarassing. -

Time for the sox to hit the f***ing ball. 2 runs, that is the challenge. Stop trying to be superheros. Do what you did over the last few games, and hit it where its pitched. 1 run in 11 innings against the best pitcher in baseball. Lefties hit this guy at a .280 clip. -

QUOTE(fathom @ May 23, 2007 -> 08:39 PM) Quite a pathetic inning. I hope Greg Walker didn't break his hand patting himself on the back. You must have missed the memo where he said it's ok if he strikes out a lot. 7 weeks of sucking, he blames everything from the weather to depression. 3 good games, and he is on every radio station claiming victory. Then he gets 2 hit by Cy Young. -

QUOTE(Greg The Bull Luzinski @ May 23, 2007 -> 08:34 PM) Good to see the Fire Walker thread got bumped up. As if this game is not a reminder enough that our offense is not cured because of 3 games. People have hit Chad. There are no teams outside of the sox that he dominates and 2 hits over 5+. Someone needs to throw sliders in batting practice. It like they never saw one before. I love it when our high priced sluggers take pitches for strike 3. -

You would think with all of the thumpers on our team, that we would take pitches better. I mean if we could see half the pitches that the As see, we would have something. -

The A's teach probably the best strikezone control out of any team. -

QUOTE(RockRaines @ May 23, 2007 -> 08:05 PM) The bats will wake up. remember, NOBODY has been hitting this guy. The Indians put up a 5 spot on him in 4 innings, 2 starts ago. It isnt like he has faced a ton of good hitting teams. -

QUOTE(winninguglyin83 @ May 23, 2007 -> 08:03 PM) this guy looks like he could shut us out. So much for the offense being fixed. Johan on Monday should be funny. -

QUOTE(rafacosta @ May 23, 2007 -> 02:36 PM) 1 x 0 Milan! YAY! Inzaghi. Let's go Milan. English soccer sucks...it is so boring andthey are always crossing the ball waiting for somebody to head it into the net. I still don't know why Crouch is a superstar. I believe that Yao Ming would be a striker in the English league. So having 3 out of the last 4 teams in Europe = sucking. Ronaldo is so boring, so is Chelsea, Manu and the rest. -
QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ May 22, 2007 -> 05:44 PM) when jenks can't get the breaking ball over, he's toast. the velocity is not enough to dominate like he did in the past. He has a mid 90s velocity that goes up into the upper 90s. He has a curve, a slider, and a change. He has enough stuff to get by if his curve isnt getting over for a strike. He is our best reliever by far, and people are still on him. I dont get it.

The offense needs to keep this up for a while, to make up for lost time. Danks, this kid is good.

Enjoy the movie on the flight Andrew. I hear that if you tip the flight attendant, she might give you a double 7 Up and two bags of pretzels. -

QUOTE(caulfield12 @ May 22, 2007 -> 09:38 PM) Time for Sisco to head to Charlotte and begin his starting adventure. He needs to have his mechanics broken down, simplified so he can get a common release point. The stuff is there. He just needs to keep closed driving into the plate. He flys open, he short arms it. Its all over the place. -

This kid impresses the hell out of me. He doesnt have his best stuff tonight, and against a tough team for a young guy to face, he attacks and pitches hard. Danks right now has a 3.78 ERA. It would even be better if Uribe caught a simple fly ball. Imagine how good he will be once he learns that cutter and gets better control. This kid should be in AAA, and he is manning up and pitching his ass off. Impressive.
