I just want to know why did we pick up 2 members of the worst pen in the majors from last year. -

Men on with no outs with RISP and the Rays show how its done. A ground ball back up the middle. they didnt aim for the Ryan. They didnt fall over striking out. Ozzie, please stop using MacDougal for high leverage situations until he proves he can throw strikes. -

Ozzie needs to have a quicker hook on when he changes someones role. Last year he marched Politte and his ripped up arm out in late game situations because of 05 and he clearly didnt have it. He kept trying over and over and over losing games. This year we are trying to do the same thing with Mac. The guy cannot throw strikes right now, and his velocity is way down. Something is up. -

What about MacDougals pitching over the last 3 weekss makes you believe that you can leverage him in these types of situation yet. -

QUOTE(briguy27 @ May 27, 2007 -> 03:27 PM) dammit, guy on 2nd, no outs, and go our 2-3-4 hitters up, and cant do anything with it. how frustrating This is traditional August Corpseball. Many a player has played it, Jose Valentin was amaster of it. -

2 innings in a row we strand a guy on 2nd with no outs. And in both innings, we have a guy strike out on a pitch that is not a strike by about 3 feet. Impressive. If the Indians win we are 5.5 out. Tomorrow is a dead loss. We face Halladay this week as well. So much for the easy part of the schedule. -

Another swing on a pitch way way out of the zone. We are the polar opposite to the Oakland As and their plate control. Rick Ankiel would get some swing on a lot of our hitters. -

If you swing like Gooch or Uribe has done with men on late in the game down by a run, you should sit for a week for being dumb. Those balls couldnt of hit the strikezone unless our gravity turned up 5 times. Lead off double, and we are close to stranding him. 2 times in the last 2 innings we have men on, with no outs and we swing stupid. -

QUOTE(mr_genius @ May 27, 2007 -> 03:14 PM) Ichiro is way past his prime, wouldn't want to pay a ton for him. Ichiro past his prime is a lot better than what we have running around in our outifeld today. -

Crawford would look good on this team. Then next year we replace Dye with Ichiro. Wow. I will wake up now. -

QUOTE(Mr. Showtime @ May 27, 2007 -> 03:08 PM) I'm not sure myself, I just assumed Walker. Either way it's unacceptable that this continues to happen. With all of the right handers I have no clue why we are so bad against lefties. That is what perplexes me. -

QUOTE(Mr. Showtime @ May 27, 2007 -> 03:04 PM) Seriously now, 2 years in a row with this not being able to bunt s***. I'm sure our pal Walk is on the case though. I dont even know if that is walkers territory thought. I thought Cora or someone else was the bunting instructor. Bunting isnt that hard, Square around, when the ball hits the bat deaden it. If the guy is dumb and throws a breaking pitch, you can aim it then. -

QUOTE(fathom @ May 27, 2007 -> 03:03 PM) I wonder just how long Vazquez's leash will be. Needless to say, it will likely be too long. Our starting pitchers have the longest leash in the majors. Yet we think we need 12 pitchers. -

QUOTE(Mr. Showtime @ May 27, 2007 -> 02:59 PM) It's not even that I agree/disagree with the idea of it, I just get mad that they can't do it. How hard is this? Well most pitchers are taught, that when you have someone who shows you bunt way ahead of time, you throw it up and in. If they do get ahold of it, it goes straight up in the air. These home run cuts with men on are so dumb. Terrero trying to hit the Ryan now. Shorten your swing up. Then he swings at something over their heads. This is why we are a .500 club that is hitting were we are. You cannot take huge home run cuts in a tie game with men on 1st and 2nd with no outs. Its like our hitters are channelling Jose Valentin. -

QUOTE(mr_genius @ May 27, 2007 -> 02:47 PM) and the thread turns into a hate fest I dont hate Javy at all. I think with his stuff he should pound the zone in more with hard stuff, and then use his two seamer/change more as the out pitch. Its more of a problem with how we attack certain types of hitters. We pitch away from contact, and some hitters realize this and go oppo. -

Away, Away,Away. Oppo bomb. We pitch to hitters the same way that people pitch us. Pitching in I guess is so 2005. -
I took a break tonight, and decided to take the wife out for dinner. It was nice to come out of the Cheesecake Factory after having a good meal, to see that we came out on top. With the type of pitcher that was facing us, I thought it would play to a weakness of the sox. Good to see they came through. We need these types of wins with Detroit and the Indians beating up on each other.
