  1. Sweeney taking more pitches than the rest of our team. The kid has a more disciplined bat right now than the team.
  2. Okay, according to my World Series DVD and other associated video I dont remember El Contreras the side armer. So someone needs to either get him an MRI on his back, or they need him to get his arm angle up a tick. Sure you can drop down to give another angle to the batter. But when you dramatically change your arm angle to side arm primary, then something aint too kosher with the old back there. Last year in Texas, 97 on the gun from 3/4s mixing in a few side armers. Side Arm Count is something that was created after his sciatica acted up and he went on the DL.
  3. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2007 @ May 3, 2007 -> 10:55 PM) Excuse my ignorance, but what the hell does fellate mean? lol. Take a look at the posters name, and then use your imagination.
  4. QUOTE(Texsox @ May 2, 2007 -> 11:25 PM) How much time do you think it will take a new coach to totally change the entire team's approach? Tell me how long did it take for the Indians to turn their offense around in 05 when they fired their hitting coach.
  5. QUOTE(Texsox @ May 2, 2007 -> 11:20 PM) Teams go into a slump, using this logic, we should have fired the entire staff in September of '05. Wait, fans here wanted Oz's head then. The change should have been made before spring training. So this is just a slump. Sure I have heard of teams that the entire club cant hit all at once. That happens. I guess we can wait until they break out of it. Maybe it will happen this weekend. Escobar, Lackey and Colon are ripe for the picking.
  6. QUOTE(Texsox @ May 2, 2007 -> 11:10 PM) It was all those shut out innings that Cooper threw. Don't blame the players it's the coaches fault. When a player goes bad. Sure its the players fault. When the entire team goes bad. Are all the players bad then. Then again based on the coaches arent at fault. We should of never fired Manuel, Nardi or Von Joshua.
  7. QUOTE(Texsox @ May 2, 2007 -> 11:01 PM) It's both and I think it's more the players than the coaches. Let's get the hitting coach from 2005 then. Sure because it was the offense that lead us to victory in 05.
  8. QUOTE(Texsox @ May 2, 2007 -> 10:55 PM) Any thought that Walker thinks it is better to tell the public his guys are OK, while privately working on correcting flaws? It seems like a good coach would keep things positive in public and not embarrass or call out his guys. Why do we invest in players? It's all about the coaches at this level. Hell with the right coaching staff we can take any roster and have them hitting line drives and winning games. If coaches dont mean anything. We would of won in 05 with Manuel, Nardi Contreras and Von Joshua. there was no reason to change then. Coaches dont do a thing, its the players.
  9. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ May 2, 2007 -> 10:30 PM) Konerko has 3 of his top 4 OBP performances under Walker's eye along with the increased power. Dye hasn't done too bad either. You want a Texas assistant? Have you looked at their averages? Take away their best performer Kinsler, like the White Sox lost their best so far this year in Thome, and you have an offense just as sad. They almost got no hit again the other night. You know what. You are right. This is just some sort of miracle slump. All of our hitters being bad and having the same long looping swing is just some sort of coincidence. In fact that we are near the top in homers, and have the lowest BA and runs scored is just a sign of bad luck. Its not Walks fault that all of our hits are flying over the fence. That just proves what a great coach he is. It was cold for a while. And now they are depressed. We should just wait and see what happens. Maybe they snap out of it, maybe they dont. Hey think of all of the neat new players we can get if we dont. Dont worry, Hawk is right. The back of their cards dont lie. And someone will pay. I am sure that Escobar, Lackey and Colon are s***ting in their pants right now thinking of the offensive panther coming to town to pounce on them. Who can hit the Cy Guadins, and Cy Durbins. Those pitchers are bonifide studs who put it together against the sox that night. Its a miracle that anyone could hit them. Whomever puts up that 10+ ERA against other teams must be someone else. Its not the coach. All of our players suck, all of them. Its a conspiracy.
  10. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ May 2, 2007 -> 10:01 PM) He's hitting no where near .234 now, and has been pretty good since 2003. In fact, he's been a much better hitter since Walker became the hitting coach. Who do you have in mind as the new hitting coach? A much better hitter. You act like all of a sudden Kong started to hit when Walker showed up. 1999 .294 24 homers 2000 .298 27 homers 2001 .282 32 homers 2002 .304 27 homers 2003 .234 18 homers 2004 .277 41 homers 2005 .283 40 homers 2006 .313 35 homers I will give you that his power numbers went up with Walker. AJ's power numbers went up. s*** everyones power numbers come up with Walker. But if you look at his BA and OPS I would say that he has been a similiar type hitter. I would like to see someone who preaches line drives. Maybe a Texas assistant, or a Twins assistant. Someone outside of our system.
  11. QUOTE(Mr. Showtime @ May 2, 2007 -> 09:45 PM) I'm waiting for Hawk to bring up that he believes each team should have more than one hitting coach again. We have two. They have walker who has used the cold, the pitchers, and now depression and anxiety as the reason they cant hit. They are fundamentally sound, just cant hit because their bats are sad. The assistant makes people watch video, to find holes in their swing, well no. He uses video to help them find their inner chi, and how they feel when they hit well. Here I thought Gellinger was showing them their good swings versus their old swings. Now I know why no name pitchers devastate our team when they face them for the first time. Forget watching video of the pitcher, remember the warm feeling you had when you crushed a homer in 2006. Ahh yes visualize your swing in your head and how you felt. You are fixed go into the game and flail away. Here is the wierd thing. Walk things the swings are fundamentally sound and mechanically sound. Thats scary. But then again he thought that BA had a good swing, even as he was being sent down. Long and looping and slow is Walks version of a good swing I guess.
  12. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ May 2, 2007 -> 05:58 PM) I have a hard time believing Konerko, Dye, AJ, Crede et al will continue to struggle like this much longer, and I have a harder time thinking that telling Walker to go back to Georgia will suddenly make these guys hit. You either make some trades for different players or ride it out. If these guys have regressed offensively as much as they have shown, the team isn't going to win anyway. Konerko hit 234 in 2003. So yes, one of the main kogs can go into a season long slump. It has happened. So why again cant it happen again.
  13. Some 50 year old woman, oh its a guy, I think calls in. Now he is talking about Pods being the key to our offense coming back. Now he thinks we can get Carl Crawford. Good luck with that. It will cost you Danks and some other talent.
  14. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ May 2, 2007 -> 05:38 PM) Its because of their hitting coach. They fired him you realize.
  15. QUOTE(Texsox @ May 2, 2007 -> 05:39 PM) It takes more than a day or two to rework a swing. He should have been gone last off season. Either way could spell disaster, I prefer to think of this as a slump, it happens to every team, every season. 2005 it happened late. Switching coaches everytime they slump and we'll have the 2007 Edition of College of Coaches. But hey, I'm a conservative guy Why did we fire Von Joshua then. He was a nice guy. Maybe he should still be here. Why did we get rid of Manuel. Nardi should still be here also.
  16. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ May 2, 2007 -> 05:37 PM) Ward was having a lot of personal issues with players. Most couldn't stand him. They like Walker. I would be absolutely shocked if the White Sox canned Walker, at least during the season. I liked our CIO, he was a great guy. Everyone got along with him, and he was great. We had an HR survey, and voted him best boss to work for. Our CEO fired him a month ago. Do you think that KW is going to tank this year over a hitting coach. Do you think that they want to go into the dumper after investing 100 million in a team that just started getting people back to the park. Come on.
  17. QUOTE(Frankensteiner @ May 2, 2007 -> 05:35 PM) Are you sure about that? I thought they were middle of the pack instead of at the bottom. It would be difficult to finish 3rd in runs scored overall for the season if you're basically at the bottom for one half. We scored over 500 runs in the first half. That is insane. Our 2nd half offense blew dog. We were behind the Royals in offense in the 2nd half.
  18. QUOTE(Greg The Bull Luzinski @ May 2, 2007 -> 05:29 PM) I wonder what it would take to get Walt Hriniak back? He may have even been able to teach Brian Anderson to hit major league pitching. Funny, he seemed to do wonders in 05 with Uribe. But then again, Walk thought so much of it. He decided that Hrniak was wrong after 05, and broke Uribe's swing down. How did that work out.
  19. Another Dummy call. Tom from Riverside. Sweeney is too young to hit. Thanks Mr. smart guy. Now he wants to trade Anderson for someone on the cubs team. Now he is onto bunting. Dumb. How about a line drive moron. He said that 64% of teams that score first win games, 100% of statistics uses in a postgame calls are wrong is my position. We scored first in the last two games. Now he wants to put Mack or Sweeney in the 3 hole. Who are these people.
  20. QUOTE(kwolf68 @ May 2, 2007 -> 05:14 PM) What worries me is Mark Buehrle will be the first one traded because his value is sky high again. I think that would be a mistake...Mark is the one dude who has sacked up this year and is playing ball. I hope Im wrong, but with Mark's contract situation, if the Sox fall out of contention I fear he'll be the one dealt. Mark and Dye will be for the taking if we sputter like this into June. Possibly Crede.
  21. QUOTE(Kalapse @ May 2, 2007 -> 05:05 PM) Did I really just hear a guy call into the postgame show saying the Sox still don't have a 5th starter? "AND WE STILL DON'T HAVE A 5th STARTER!!" - Asshat Caller "Danks has been pitching pretty well." - PFB "HE'S 0 and 4!!" - Asshat Caller And he was completely serious. Wow. The next dummy calls up and asks PFB what he would do. PFB knows less than my dog about the sox and baseball in general. Now he is talking about how runs are down across baseball. Thanks PFB. "My dog Riley barks you are not even close."
  22. QUOTE(joeynach @ May 2, 2007 -> 04:58 PM) Im getting really sick of seeing us either swing at the first pitch, or on 3-0, 3-1, 2-0, and 2-1 counts based on the situation not being that important. Meaning i see us swing at those counts oer on the 1st pitch either when we already have the lead or are down by a lot, as if it doesnt matter. But when the game is close, tied, etc I see us execute as the team we are; more patient, more fundamentals not swinging at the first pitch. We are never going to build or maintain a lead long enough to win against any team like this. Its really sickening. Most guys trying to get out of a funk. Hit backwards. They try to shoot it up the middle and to right. They break down their swing, and try basics. Clean front to back, line drive swing. Then once and only once you get success there, you expand it and start to drive on the longer swing. But then again, if Konerko doesnt remember if he was feeling happy or sad on the day he watched his video, or if he is upset he wont hit according to Dr Walker and his Nurse Mike.
  23. QUOTE(fathom @ May 2, 2007 -> 04:54 PM) Look at our lineup....even a good hitting coach couldn't get this offense to be average. Konerko, Gooch, AJ, Dye, Crede, Uribe are all major leaguers. They should all be capable of hitting Bautista. Even with the Sweeneys and Macks in the lineup. We should be able to get more than 2 solo homers.
  24. Farmer just said what a great job Greg does with the hitters. That the hits aren't falling. Well Mr. no Socks. When you hit a 900 foot flyball. You can get under it, well unless you are Juan Uribe.
  25. QUOTE(Cerbaho-WG @ May 2, 2007 -> 04:45 PM) Tieing run on first. Greg Walker's thought process right now: "HIT IT TO THE PUGENT SOUND, BOYS" Well they are in seattle. Maybe they can get Fraiser to come out and give some therapy. Because all of those swings are mechanically sound says Walk. They are just mentally done right now.
