White Sox vs. Mariners, 5/2/07 (L)
southsideirish71 replied to Jimbo's Drinker's topic in 2007 Season in Review
QUOTE(RockRaines @ May 2, 2007 -> 04:42 PM) his swing looks like garbage. he better get in the cage and fast. Gellinger will play him video of 06 and then will ask him about how he felt when he swung, and was he happy. Then Walk will ask him if he is happy, and give him a pat on the fanny and tell him on the back of his card his numbers dont lie. Then Konerko will suicide shrug a bunch and beat up the watercooler. -

Welcome back to 2003 Mr. Konerko. See you around August when you figure your swing out. -

QUOTE(Jenks Heat @ May 2, 2007 -> 04:38 PM) Estimate time of inning 1 minute 38 seconds. I hope when we are playing for three weeks straight later in the season, there is no b****ing about off days. At the start of the game Friday we will have scored 6 runs in 6 days. Gaudin, Byrd, Kennedy, etc. This should be pretty funny to watch the sorry at-bats here. Our next series is Escobar, Lackey, and Colon. Hits will be a flying there. -

QUOTE(fathom @ May 2, 2007 -> 04:38 PM) At least we're consistent....back-to-back games of a hitter taking a called 3rd strike with the tying run on base in top of the 8th. Pods would be proud! Protecting the plate is non-existent. You can drop and drive on that pitch, let it fly. -

Erstad Gooch Dye Konerko Crede AJ Uribe Mack Sweeney This is how that lineup should of been. AJ is not a 3 hitter. We need to start to throw money at some of hte Twins minor league instructors and put them on our payroll. -

QUOTE(fathom @ May 2, 2007 -> 04:12 PM) Gotta keep the ball in the park. Looks like he's pitched great, but the main negative with Danks so far is his homer ratio. Oh well, the more we lose, the more heat that will come onto KW for neglecting the 2007 Sox. 21 year old, throwing a lot of strikes with out pinpoint control will give up homers. It happens. He is attacking the zone, and not backing down. He will learn control. In a perfect world he would of had more time in the minors to refine his craft. But he gives us the best chance to win in the 5th starter. And shows a heart of gold, and plus stuff. -

QUOTE(Tony82087 @ May 2, 2007 -> 04:09 PM) "This group is too talented to hit like this the whole year, slurp, slurp, slurp" "This Batista is really doing a great job today, slurp, slurp, slurp" He is also repeating things walker is saying. Look at the back of their baseball cards. That doesnt lie. Well Konerkos card says .234 in 03. So did that lie. -

6 innings of 2 run 4 hit ball by your 21 year old 5th starter. And he is not looking at a W right now. Walker and the offense should be embarassed. The pitching this year is enough to win this division. The hitting needs to man the f*** up. See the white ball and hit the white ball. Try not to dip your back shoulder and softball it. -

Mike Gellinger, the assistant Batting coach was just on the radio. I can now vomit some more. He tells the hitters, its not watching the video to look for mechanical issues. Its about remembering what you were feeling and what you were thinking of will help you hit. Because good thoughts can help you. So between Walk and his anxiety, and Mike and his feelings its a wonder why our hitters haven't broken out. Can we get someone who can work on how to fix the swing instead of being shrinks. Coop saying that the pitch that Thornton gave up should of been low and away. Well can he tell us why AJ was sitting low and in. Thornton hit the target. The target was bad however. -

The pink fuzzy bunny report just puts the sox in perspective. You want to vomit when you listen to him, and you want to vomit when you see our swings. -

In true corpseball fashion, they will score about 10 runs. We are due for our once a week explosion. People will jump back up and say, look our offense is fine everything is peachy. X player has a fine day, they will declare him fixed. Then over the next 5 days we will get dominated crazytime. Until this offense has a week or more of sustainable success against decent pitching they are not fixed. From Walkers comments it sounds like Xanax or another anti-anxiety pill should be given to our hitters pregame. This bum pitching against us today has a horrible ERA and is not a good starter. What looms on the horizon, is Escobar, Lackey, and Colon. So they best get their hits in today, because it gets ugly real quick. -

QUOTE(RockRaines @ May 2, 2007 -> 09:17 AM) Great. The kid will be hurt very quickly. Maybe he'll make the squad, but he may be unable to perform. I think another thing that everyone is forgetting is that Wolfe will also be a saftey valve on kickoffs for if they kick away from Hester. The will put him back there, and let him run in the open field. He isnt hester, but he can miss some tackles and turn it into a good thing. -
QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ May 2, 2007 -> 08:12 AM) I really wish Walt Hriniak was willing to get back with one team. Do we have any hitting coaches in the minor league system that may be good? I know we've discussed the poor approach system-wide, and I agree, but you'd think maybe one of them was an exception. From the same system that produced the Brian Anderson long looping swing. Do not pick anyone from within our system, they need to go out. And hopefully find someone that can work on fundamentals, and a solid clean swing. Level, and can preach strikezone awareness.

Hit the f***ing ball. That is all. Keep your back shoulder and your front shoulder in line, drive the bat direct toward the ball with little movement. Do not dip your back shoulder or attempt to go for the fence. If you can, try working from right to left until your swing is back. These are things that the hitting coach should be saying. -

QUOTE(mr_genius @ May 1, 2007 -> 11:33 PM) i you b**** about every move he makes eventually you'll be right. congrats Down 3-2 and your starter is north of a 105 pitches. There is no reason to have him start the 8th. Ozzie wanted to give one of his starters a chance for the win. -

Down by a few runs, take a stab at the fence. Give a suicide shrug, and contemplate why you are hitting below .200. -

QUOTE(fathom @ May 1, 2007 -> 11:24 PM) f*** you Ozzie and AJP. Another 0-2 hit against the Sox in a big situation. Why the in the world would AJ setup, low and in on a lefty. Thats their natural swing zone. -

Vazquez in the game. Ozzie must be trying to get him the win, instead of the team.
