August situational hitting in full swing. 3-1 JD swings at a ball going for his melon. Then watches a ball go down the cock. Game over. -

It would be nice to have someone with a short quick stroke. or someone that would shorten their swing up on 2 strikes. But hey, dip the back shoulder, aim for the concourse. -

First walker blamed the bitter cold. How could you hit in the cold. Next its a combination of cold, and our hitters are pressing. Now its the hitters are getting bad vibes, or some other mental affliction. Maybe next Walk can get Jobu to wake up the bats we will be okay. -

4 games in a row were we have given up 3 or less runs as a starter, and our record will be 1-3 if this holds up. -

Good news is that 50% of our hits are homers Bad news is that we have 4 hits, and 2 solo dongs. -

QUOTE(fathom @ May 1, 2007 -> 10:27 PM) Here's the problem....Cintron has to be on the team because you don't have a back-up SS. I was really hoping we'd trade Mackowiak and create room for Eduardo Perez. Of course, KW's only good signing this offseason, Toby Hall, was ruined. I don't see how we won't continue to get shut down by the usual LHP in our division. Up on the cheats site someone posted our ranking in the AL against lefties. Coming into tonights game against lefties. We are hitting .197BA, with a .296OBP with a hot .258slugging. thats a .555 OPS. -

She was shaking in anger???? LMAO Sure a girl wouldnt like that song. Uh Carol, he was 18 years old when he did this, in college. Lets not go overboard on what happened in a dorm or frat in college when they were 18. I am sure that a lot of things that people did in college at 18 through say whatever is not going to go on your resume. People need a reality check. -

QUOTE(joeynach @ May 1, 2007 -> 08:48 AM) Didn't washburn pitch a great game against us this time last year. If I remember correctly I think he went like 7 strong against us only giving up a few hits and 1 run. It was real frustrating to get dominated by Jerrod "Average" Washburn. I actually think it was the best outing of his year last year. I remember his ERA never being as low at any point last year as it was when he faced the sox last april. I am going to no friggin nuts if we get dominated by the most middle of the road pitching in the AL again. Washburn used low and away against us last year, and threw his change in the dirt. It was a frustrating game to watch. We should do well this trip, as our lift and pull offense will be forced to hit line drives due to the geometry of the ballparks. Its hard even for Rob Deer to attack the large area of Safeco. We may see a better plan over the next few games, only to be undone when they get home. -

QUOTE(CarlosMartinez @ Apr 30, 2007 -> 12:30 AM) How long has Walker been with the Sox? I don't remember a cold spell like this for quite some time. Some guys start hot, others take a month or so to heat up, but the entire team is frigid right now. Is that Walkers fault, are guys hurt, are some past their prime, did others peak a year or two ago??? This team is so frustrating right now and everyone collectively sucks at the plate. Our best bat is hurt, but like others said, Paulie is still seeing fastballs down the tube and he's supposed to be one of the best fastball hitters in the game. Yet he takes 2 down dead center then swings at the third in the dirt to K. Hawk and DJ rave about pitchers pitching their behinds off, yet I've seen too many strikes dead red go by looking or popped up in the infield to believe these are Cy Young candidates on the bump. Too damn frustrating. In 05, we hit .255 in April, .254 in May and .242 in August. 3 months of sucky offense. Last year September we hit .260. But this April has been the worst in a while. The last time Kong put up a month like this was 03. -

QUOTE(greg775 @ Apr 29, 2007 -> 10:40 PM) This isn't meant as a flame against anybody but do you really believe a hitting coach matters that much? Or at all? The well paid guy with the bat in his hands either hits it or don't. I remember the Indians couldnt hit as a team in 05. They fire Murray, the entire team goes on a long extended offensive explosion. This team should hit, when the entire team has a month long slump, that is blamed on weather and now according to its hitting coach depression. Then its time to make a move. -
QUOTE(CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Apr 29, 2007 -> 06:36 PM) You haven't been paying attention have you ? The guy in the regular lineup with the highest batting average is the CF. And right now we have automatic outs just about everywhere in the lineup considering everyone but the CF is hitting below .225. So Konerko, Gooch, Uribe, Dye, Crede all suck now because Prancer and Thome are out of the lineup. They cant hit fastballs because Prancer is not doing his prancer dance at 1st, and Thome isnt underneath the Cell taking batting practice. Whatever.

QUOTE(fathom @ Apr 29, 2007 -> 08:51 PM) We're going to be hearing that injury excuse for a long time now as a reason Walker should still have a job. How does an injury to Thome, stop Konerko from making contact. Or Crede, or Dye, or Uribe. Yes maybe Kong wont see meatballs down the plate, but he cant hit them either. Its one player. Man up. -

Well now that is warm. Our issues are now due to "negative mental baggage". Walker must of worked under Dusty. Whats next, did some magical animal curse our bats. Line drive swings Walk. Get off your ass and work on that. -
This dude needs to be canned with the rest of our hitting instructors. Andersons swing is in good shape?????????????? Good f***ing lord.
-
Our minor league hitting instructors need to be canned as a group. How many long and looping swings, that are very predictably overmatched when they come up here. It would of been nice to see Anderson with a nice short quick swing, and his power could of grown. However short quick swing be damned, lets go for the fence. Anderson was failed in the minors. And the guy up here didnt do him any favors as well. On year, and one month to rebuild a swing and it looks just as long and looping as it was before.

I just want to see someone, just someone put the ball in play like as in a line drive with 2 strikes with men on. This striking out crap has to stop.

White Sox vs. Angels, 4/28/07 (L)

Well just got home from this offensive disaster. Our pitching was great. 3 or less runs in the AL should win you day in and day out. The offense f***ed themselves tonight. There is no reason that so many of our guys should strikeout looking with men on. What are you trying to do, walk on a 2 and 2 count. Swing the bat, if its close enough to be called a strike there is no reason that your bat should be on your shoulder. With all the high monster popups and warning track shots, the lift and pull offense was in full affect. It was warm and we are at home. We are going to see games were we pound out homers like crazy, and then we will see were we can barely score. Our offense needs to get its head out of its ass, and keep a steady beat of when you have a man on, put the bat on the ball and dont try to park it every time. If you get a count, sure drive the ball. But on 2 strikes, control yourself. Put the bat on the ball. What a wasted pitching performance. We are 12-10 and our pitching has been lights out. -
