White Sox vs. Royals, 4/24/07 (W)

QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Apr 24, 2007 -> 10:40 PM) I say it because no one else will. If he's to fix his career he's to make serious mental and physical adjustments that he hasn't shown himself capable of making in the last year. You put Anderson in the Texas hitting coaches hands for a few months, and we are looking at a different hitter. Hell give him to the Twins and he would look like a stud. -

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Apr 24, 2007 -> 10:32 PM) It's the little dip/hitch, whatever you wanna call it that he does that makes his swing pretty ugly. He can actually be pretty quick to the ball, unfortunately he makes things harder on himself. Its a product of our system. Look at our best guys like Fields. Check his power numbers, and then check out how many strikeouts he had. Look at Brians strikeout numbers. When you K at that high of a rate in the minors, ugly ugly things will happen in the majors. Its makes me sad watching guys with 1/4 of the talent that Brian has like the Punto's and other associated crap from the Royals come up and put bat on ball. Our guys come up, and look like they are hitting a golf ball with a toothpick. Brian has someone in the minors that identifies a fault in his long looping swing, breaks it down, and gets him to shorten it up into a line drive approach. Its probably a different outcome. But when he goes back to AAA, he will get more of what he received down there. His numbers will look good, he will hit some jacks and will be unprepared to come up. -

QUOTE(Heads22 @ Apr 24, 2007 -> 10:28 PM) I'd like to see a real CF solution brought in this year. KW is probably frothing at the mouth to bring something in from Philly right now. They could reunite the stooges. -

QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Apr 24, 2007 -> 10:25 PM) Give me a break. He had the same crap approach last year, too, and he had all of the first half and significant parts of the second half to make adjustments. It isn't playing time -- he's either uncoachable, suffering from bad coaching or simply an all-around mediocre baseball player. Too bad they didnt bring Hrniak to work specifically with BA. Maybe he could of undone the 'instruction" he received in the minors. -

QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ Apr 24, 2007 -> 10:19 PM) Me too. I'm kinda surprised he was successful with that swing in the minors. Can those who watched him in the minors shed some light? His plate approach and mechanics has been my gripe and reason for seriously wondering if he can be a productive major league hitter. There is a slight difference in the control of minor leaguers and major leaguers. With a long looping swing, you can get away with it in the minors as people will make mistakes over the plate more. People are working more on stuff more than results. In the majors even the crappiest pitcher can throw low and away. And when you have a long looping swing, low and away might as well be a golf ball at 100 mph. -

QUOTE(Heads22 @ Apr 24, 2007 -> 10:16 PM) And it's been evident in any hitter that we've brought up. KW retooled some of the scouting. Do you think he will address the coaching in the minors. -

Whomever the instructor or group of instructors that is responsible for the Joe Borchard, Brian Anderson, Joe Crede when he came up long looping swing needs to be identified, and chased out of the system. Its like an assembly line of crappy long looping swings. -

QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Apr 24, 2007 -> 10:05 PM) Fields is really going to strike out a lot when and if he becomes a regular in the major leagues. I still don't think he'll be any good, but KW said last year he'll be an All Star. We need to start drafting baseball players. Not football players who also play baseball. -

Ozzie laughs at all of us from the dugout. Gload and Pods could be a great corner combo. -

QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Apr 24, 2007 -> 10:00 PM) Its one thing to insist Erstad be in the line-up everyday. Its more puzzling why OG insists on leading him off. This is the same guy who put Timo in the lineup like he was a rock star, and not the worthless hitter that he was. Remember when his midget ass was out at 1st base. You get warned on the xbox360 when you try and put players out of position. -

So when did we dip Timo in white paint. This is the worst DH on our team since we graced New York with OMIT as our DH batting close to 200. -

The Greg Walker offense is in full effect. Pull side ground outs on 1 or 2 pitches. And Strikeouts on either crap over your head, or bounced in. This kid might throw a complete game unless they get their heads out of their asses. Now if we get the popup rangers in full effect, or we have Hawk and DJ talking about 7 or 8 different pitches and arm angles then we are f***ed. -

QUOTE(fathom @ Apr 24, 2007 -> 09:42 PM) You're going to hate Josh Fields, aren't you? With how well we prepare guys, I am sure he will hit a good 175 to 220 in his first year up with how he was taught. LIFT AND PULL YOUNG MAN -

QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ Apr 24, 2007 -> 09:39 PM) So you guys are being serious about wishing we had gload as a full-time OFer? I could give 2 s***s that gload is gone. I just want to video tape his swing, and use it as a blue print for young hitters in our system. A nice line drive approach. Maybe then when a guy comes up, they wont look like concentrated cat poop for 2 to 3 years. -

QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ Apr 24, 2007 -> 09:37 PM) Rust. Well its about time for Mr. Anderson to get his rust off in the comfort of Charlotte. In fact the honey's down in Charlotte would be excited to meet a real life major leaguer. -

QUOTE(fathom @ Apr 24, 2007 -> 09:34 PM) Gload's the type of line drive hitter that could help balance out some of the home run hitters we've had. The funny thing is that I'm nowhere near Gload's biggest fan. All I'm saying is that I thought he should have received more of a shot last year. Well our system could work on developing more line drive swings, but it would go against the whole lift and pull approach fostered by the entire system. -

QUOTE(fathom @ Apr 24, 2007 -> 09:31 PM) Mackowiak didn't always start for a Pirates team that had less talent than this Royals team. It's too bad wind is blowing in. If not, I'd expect 3 or 4 homers by Sox tonight. The wind is blowing left to right. Its not blowing in. Hence the ball that bounced off the bottom of the wall last inning. We need to hit line drives tonight. We can put up an 8 spot on this junk. Well if Uribe can stop swinging at stuff at his melon. -

We should rock this pitcher. He kind of sucks. I know that Hawk is about to annoint him Cy Young in about an inning. His fastball is straight as an arrow. His curve is okay, but not that good. And his slider doesnt break that much. -

Our pitchers need to get over this spotting the opposition a 3 to 4 spot in the first inning thing that has been going on. Its funny, they get rocked the first inning, then mow them down for the rest. Just concentrate a bit more earlier, or throw more pitches in the bullpen session. -

QUOTE(DrunkBomber @ Apr 24, 2007 -> 06:31 PM) Depending on what pick they would have to use I would love to get that guy. He looks pretty solid. Im hoping the Bears go offense with one or both of their first 2 picks. Something like a receiver, maybe Smith first, than maybe Miller at TE with 37. I doubt they would go this route but I think building the offense right now will make the team significantly better. If they trade up Id like to get Olsen or Poz. If the Bears can move up to 6th, I would like them to pick up Amobi Okoye. He is 19, could help strengthen the interior defensive line and we could send Tank and his insanity to someone else. Another pressure guy with Tommie Harris would be nice. We could get more pressure up front, and allow the linebackers and dbs to play the cover 2 correctly.
