I could live with a hybrid approach. 3 and 2 would work for me. Online only would not. The kids need to be taught in person and tested. Tests in a classroom. My son is a very high level academic kid who is trying to land academic scholarships that will impact his long term future. Going to a P/F system and allowing everyone to cheat hurts his chances of differentiating his talents from others. This could impact where he goes to school and his career chances down the road. Federal and State funds should be provided for both PPE and other material. This should of been done already. HIPAA and other lovely privacy laws are going to be at odds with reality. You test positive, sure contact trace and part of that is that you notify the school and that person goes away for 2 weeks. Now I already know that we will have a mix this fall. Some parents will keep Junior home when he sneezes, says his tummy feels bad, or just wants to stay home to keep mom company. Others will push 3 pills down their kids throat and tell them they are not sick and to go to school. I think at the HS level its simple. Everyone wears masks. If your kid doesnt want to wear a mask, great homeschool is for you. You get sick, you contact trace and everyone involved gets tested. When people get sick they get processed out until they are cleared. There is no penalty for staying away with a covid positive hit. Its part of the price we pay to open up. Shuttering for the year is a better option then just moving to online only.

It offers nothing. No grades. No tests. 20 minutes of homework a day. Minimal contact with your teacher over a zoom. Just about every kid was sleeping most of the day while this was going on. Playing video games and getting perfect scores. The classes were cheating constantly. Its a joke. Previously: Two hours or more a day of homework. Tests and quizzes validated knowledge. Teachers were interactive with students. Kids couldnt cheat wholesale because the teacher is in the room.

Online teaching is a waste. It is completely worthless in its current state. So whats the point of paying employees to do what exactly. There are no tests. There are no grades. Zooms are limited. If all of a sudden I couldn't do my job in my current capacity do you think my employer would just allow me to collect money for long periods of time if my productivity was to drop.

Well thats mandated here in Illinois. I see jackasses going into stores without it. The stores do not object to them violating the rule. They let them shop and then process them without penalty. They should either escort them out of the store or refuse to engage in business with them.

Maybe we can get a stimulus for the education workers impacted by this economic slowdown. You know it sucks for them however the safety of everyone overweighs the economic impacts to individuals. People are more important than money I keep hearing. So just like the small business workers and others who have had to bite the bullet I guess its just another industry decimated by the virus. I hope a vaccine comes out quickly.

You cant contract trace when its community spread. Too many people. Contract tracing works when you have a very small number of cases.

So it's really about waiting for a vaccine. The goalposts have moved all over the place with this. Everyone fucking knew the minute this would open up a bit that cases would increase. The original reason to lockdown was to keep from overloading the hospitals and due to not having enough ppe and ventilators. Now we cant possibly open up a school because the virus is still around. And its not the teachers fault. Okay. I buy that. How about this take. If you are not going to provide proper education, then shut the schools down. You can do it until there is a vaccine. And while you do that, furlough the teachers, support staff, and building workers. just like other businesses that shutter up. This sham of online education is not acceptable. It's a glorified checklist to punt kids to the next year, its eyewash at best. Its busy work to make it seem like something is happening. Unfortunately nothing is happening. Its just bullshit. And there has been plenty of time to address this. And just pointing at the orange man and getting upset at his incompetence is not enough. Plenty of blame to go around. My wife works in a school district. There has been zero, zero talk of what happens if the schools cant open up. They are having their first call in a week to go over the concerns of the teachers. It is going to be exactly the same as the spring. That was a quick thing that occured in March. In August its not. There has been time to plan. And nothing has been done. Punting the kids to the next year while everyone waits for a vaccine is not going to work. This is not a glorified babysitting service. Its education. If that isnt happening then whats the point.

I live in Illinois. So looking at the positivity rate exactly what do we have to do. Wait for a vaccine? I mean we pretty much have damn good numbers.

So now every teacher wants online instruction. So great. They are ready to go right. A full day of zoom meetings, meaningful instruction and tests/grades. Its not going to be another semester of once a week zoom meetings and 20 minutes of busy work for homework. No pass/fail bullshit right. They have had months to figure this out. So the education system is ready to go right. I already know the answer to this. Because if the plan is more of the same whats the point. The goalposts have moved. It's now shutter the system until a vaccine comes out.

Its real simple. If antibodies do not have a long term cycle of protection and people can get this more than once. Then all of this is for naught. A vaccine will not work then.

I want an actual education for my kids. Not a fucking once a week zoom with homework that lasts 30 minutes. If this is more of the same in the fall. Then there is zero point. The same elderly teachers that are at risk to get covid and have secondary issues also have a non-existent grasp of how to use technology. So this will be another round of "we are not ready for this". Then more once a week zooms.

The mask order should be nationwide. It should be mandatory. Its not the new normal. Its the normal until there is a vaccine and this gets behind us.

Masks should be mandatory for all indoor activity and for any outdoor activity you cant socially distance. If a person doesn't wear the mask or refuses to wear it properly ( the people who pull it off to talk, or wear it around their neck ). They can GTFO. First time you get kicked out, for the Karen crew and the Freedom people who want to execute their protest rights. Great protest your ass off in the parking lot. And you get a 30 day ban from the store on round 2 of your attempt. Round 3, permaban.

There is no arguing with you. Its the same tactic. You come up with an absurd thought. You double down on said absurd thought sighting research from the internet. Other countries have stopped this without shutting down the entire economy. Wear masks, social distance and stay home when you can. You don't have to hide in your basement and hunt in the backyard to get game meat. Unfortunately its not just about the rich people getting richer. In your social utopia where everyone stays in and food is delivered to your door humans are still going to need to be out working, and unfortunately be exposed in shitty conditions at times. It requires people at the source of food production. Then people to collect the food and bring it to processing plants. You realize that it still requires people to go into warehouses, collect the items, put them into shipping containers. Then people put them on trucks. The trucks drive to a distribution point, and then those people have to sort them and load them on delivery trucks. So in the end people are still going to have to work. We don't have a robot army yet.

I want to see baseball. I want to see major league sports across all the spectrum. Its not safe to do this now. My TV will still allow me to enjoy the games and watch my teams. The target should be getting the economy back on track and the kids back to school. There is zero value of pushing fans in the stands besides building a large lab experiment to spread the virus.

I can tell you this from my wife accord. There are parents who do not like their kids to be sent home from school even if they are truly sick. They could have a diagnosed flu test and they will still send Jr to school. They will use medicine to help to temporarily lower the fever to try and bypass the school nurse. You realize that these same people are going to do the same stupid tricks when their kids are sick with something else besides the flu. Then you have the other side that if Timmy sniffles they block out 2 weeks for that kid being away from school. I can only imagine how that is going to work in the fall. And some of the temperature taking is a joke. I had my dentist take my temp with a thermal scan. Oh you are 94 you are good. Lady if I was 94 degrees I would be dead.

We are finally just starting to open up. I want to see this open up more. But it requires one thing. Wear a fucking mask. I hate wearing a mask. Its not comfortable. But in the end its something I do because its a requirement and if it opens up the economy and keeps the people from spreading it around then lets go for it. I have witnessed over and over how morons want to fight with store owners on their personal freedoms. My anti-vaxxing neighbor has issued a petition to their facebook friends on how the wittle kids cant wear masks in school. Which is bullshit. This is the same lady who lets her 3 year old run in the middle of the street while she does something else besides parent. Oh and the kicker she is going to school for to work as a respiratory specialist. Thats the person I want taking care of me when I have issues. These are the crazy "freedom" caucus members who are just ignorant. Now do I think that Covid will kill most people. Probably not. If you are not old or have secondary issues you will run through it. And on the other side we have the crazies who want to stay locked away until there is a cure. They watch Pandemic media porn every night where they forget that most "News" outlets will do anything for ratings. They almost relish locating a person under 25 who has it and dies. I saw someone link a 15 year old who died. The headline read healthy 15 year old dies of Covid. So while Covid probably finished him off. He was a newly diagnosed Type 1 diabetic with a 1500 mg/l blood sugar count and obese. So while he succumbed to Covid as a betting man the other two issues probably helped with turning this for the worse. In the end this becomes a battle of crazies on both sides and then the rest of us in the middle. But wearing a mask is a minor inconvenience to get my kid back into in person classes then he wears a mask. If you really are a so called conservative then its in your best interest to get these numbers under control so there is no risk of being put back into the penalty box. Wear your fucking mask already.
