  1. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 20, 2005 -> 10:41 AM) Don't worry SSI, we only face Randy Johnson and Johan Santana in the next two games. Even Ozzie can't justify playing Timo against those guys. Trust me if he gets a few hits today, he will play him.
  2. Well Chacon should send presents over to the Whitesox for this lineup. Agains our buddy Timo leads the rag tag group of non hitters. Lineup with August stats in tow Perez, LF .200BA with a .273 OBP Iguchi, 2B .231BA with a .298OBP Everett, DH .326BA AJ, C .286BA Rowand, CF .242BA and .275 OBP Dye, RF .179BA and .217OBP Crede, 3B .128BA and .180OBP Blum, 1B .241BA and .267OBP Uribe, SS .229 BA .296 OBP For my pick to s*** I am going with Cruddy. I figure he will stay off the line on pull hitters and possibly drop a fly ball because this is on national TV. That impressive .128BA just screams pick me. 4 to 5 hits today for the team, 1 run on a solo home run in the 6th inning. Chacon goes 6 innings with 3 hits and 6ks.
  3. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 19, 2005 -> 11:14 PM) It's just my projected lineup, nothing official. I figure that until Pods gets back if its a righty Timo is our leadoff guy because he obviously provides something off the field that Ozzie loves, because his bad hitting and low OBP do not project leadoff hitter. Even on the Moraine Valley CC Baseball team he might be option B. If there is a tough lefty, then Ozuna will be the guy called. So after the first time through the lineup we have 4 automatic outs in a row. COOL
  4. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 19, 2005 -> 11:05 PM) Projected lineup: - Timo - Iguchi - Rowand - PK - AJP - Dye - Crede - Anderson - Uribe TIMO. WHY IS THIS GUY ALWAYS GETTING ABS. THIS IS BORDERLINE CRAZY. HE CANT HIT. I AM BETTING THAT OWENS IN AA CAN HIT 220 AND HAVE A LESS THAN 300 OBP JUST LIKE TIMO.
  5. Can they for the love of god hit the f***ing ball again like a major league team Its Chacon. I repeat Chacon not Santana. Get a win. Stop this loss s***. ROSS GLOAD IS HITTING .366 AND WAS 3-5 WITH 5 RBIS AND A DONG LAST NIGHT. YET TIMO LIVES ON.
  6. Ross Gload, 3 for 5, 1HR, 5RBI's TOO BAD THE LOGJAM OF GREAT HITTERS ARE KEEPING GLOAD DOWN. MAYBE WHEN ONE OF THE HOF'ERS RETIRE HE MIGHT GET A CHANCE
  7. QUOTE(Dam8610 @ Aug 19, 2005 -> 10:11 PM) Okay, so the Sox have lost a few games in a row. This has dropped their record to a MISERABLE 74-45 and their divisional lead to a MICROSCOPIC 9.5 games. This, of course, is more than just cause to panic, so I don't blame you for doing so, but I think that as a whole, we should have a little more confidence in a team that until recently owned baseball's best record for about 3 1/2 months straight. I have little confidence on a team that can bat .230 as a team for the better part of a month. Plus a week ago we had a big 16.5 game lead on the twins and 15.5 on the injuns. BUT THERE IS NO WAY WE CAN GIVE UP 9 GAMES IN THE NEXT TWO MONTHS, THE 6 GAMES WAS JUST A MIRAGE Great pitching, meathead hitters who swing at s***.
  8. QUOTE(Sox Hustler @ Aug 19, 2005 -> 10:09 PM) If he said that then im thinking he might bow down to KW if he gets Mike Jackson out of retirement to DH for us. Well here is a question for everyone. The best record in the AL a playoff contender all year long. What is up with the following. Why is Timo Perez playing such a critical role on this team. He has been in over 58 games and has the most ABs on the B squad. He has been a DH and a leadoff hitter and has played first. For whatever reason Ozzie keeps rolling this guy out there. What does he provide besides a pinch hitter. He is slow, he has a good arm, he cant hit regularly, he cant get on base. Would Timo even play this role for the KC Royals. Probably not. Why is Jon Adkins who got roughed up still up and on this team. I slightly bought the Kevin Walker coming up because he was a lefty. It was a dumb reason over Baj, but hey whatever. But Jon Adkins comes up and Ozzie likes him, and we watch him get destroyed on the mound. Last year people hit 305 against him. But he gets promoted. Joe Crede. He makes some nice plays. He doesnt know how to position himself. Pull hitters he plays off the line. He drops and muffs easy plays that lead to big innings. He is a streaky hitter and all, but when he goes south OMG its real bad. Most hitters dont die at below 200 clips for months at a time. Jermaine Dye. What Jermaine is the right guy. Is it the guy who hits over 300 for a month or so. Or the guy who hits under 200 for a month or so. Its kind of funny because when his bat dies, he cant field either and makes bad throws and bad reads on balls.
  9. QUOTE(ScottPodRulez22 @ Aug 19, 2005 -> 10:04 PM) no he said that Sadly he did.
  10. QUOTE(ScottPodRulez22 @ Aug 19, 2005 -> 10:01 PM) Trust me I know but this year is defiantly the worse I mean crede over A-rod Oh you mean the gold glove 3b that drops flyballs ala Jose Valentin last year during our losing streak. Or the guy who cant hit a straight 91 mph fastball down the cock. WHEN HE CLICKS OMG, WATCH THE BALL FLY OUT OF THE PARK
  11. QUOTE(ScottPodRulez22 @ Aug 19, 2005 -> 09:57 PM) I have noticed this and my respect for hawk is slowly droping he is in love with this team to much. Go to soxfest this is what you will hear. This INSERT YEAR HERE Whitesox team is the best team that I have seen here yet. INSERT STRATEGY/SMARTBALL/POWER/COMBO is the reason we will be sucessfull. Kenny Williams is the smartest man in baseball. INSERT YEAR HERE is the best Soxfest yet.
  12. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Aug 19, 2005 -> 09:57 PM) Amen. I find it painful to listen to him these days. The most painful is when he was comparing the boston offensive players and how he would basically take every hitter on our team over their except for ortiz and manny. Their worst hitter would be our superstar.
  13. Dye hasnt been the same since the wittle spider bit him and took his mojo. Maybe we can have Austin Powers go back in time to get it. Maybe the twins or injuns put the spider in Dyes bed. I GOT YOUR FREAKIN MOJO DYE, MY SUPER SPIDER SUCKED ALL THE HITS OUT OF YOUR BAT.
  14. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Aug 19, 2005 -> 09:46 PM) The 2 guys from our team who are mentioned the most when the steroid conversation comes up. Uribe wasnt on roids. He discovered mcdonalds over the offseason once the ink from his new contract dried.
  15. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 19, 2005 -> 09:40 PM) BTW, my brother just told me Ross Gload went 3-4 with a grand slam vs a lefty tonight. Time to send down Adkins, and call up Gload. Where would he play?
  16. Why the offense is struggling in August Lets start with f***ing retarded hitters Our leadoff hitter Timo Perez 192BA with a .276OBP This is our sparkplug for the retard offense Gooch is hitting .229 Arow .258 Cannot hit the outside pitch, sliders away are dunstonlike Crede is batting .136 with a .174OBP This should be the last season for this experiment Jermaine Dye .173 Glad to see he is a streaky hitter Uribe .244 3 year contract rewarded for a good April and May last year Guys hitting pretty good AJ is 289 Not bad Guys who are hitting good Everett is batting .325 Nobody is on base for me to drive in Konerko is batting .321 Nobody is on base for me to drive in
  17. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Aug 19, 2005 -> 09:31 PM) I just have to say, look at this team when Pods was healthy, versus when he was not. I feel there's a huge difference. Grease we hit 250 in April and May. We won because of overhwelming pitching. If it wasnt for our pitching having a BAA in the 220's in April and in the 250's in May.
  18. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Aug 19, 2005 -> 09:26 PM) I feel Pods is a huge reason this team thinks the only way they can score is via the HR. Fathom, no need to post Pods run totals. I know; you've said it a billion times. I just feel Pods made it easier for the team to realize that they were able to score via a basehit, bunt, or sac fly. The way our hitters approach hitting the long ball at home changed when the temperature started to heat up in the cell. Our offense has struggled since the first game of the Cubs series. Look at our hitting from that point on. We lost that series, then had problems hitting the tigers away. We won those games but it was a hard series. Then we got beat by the As. We beat up on the Tampa Bay devil rays pitching boosting our stats. Then we finished up the first half with a sweep at home by the As. We hit in one of those game in that series.
  19. QUOTE(SouthSidePride05 @ Aug 19, 2005 -> 09:21 PM) This really shows how much Podsednik helped the team in the first half... when he was 100%. Every time he got on base, he distracted the pitcher, no matter who was on the mound. Iguchi was solid throughout the entire first half, mainly because he was batting on a distracted pitcher... and that's what sparked the offense. When's his first day back? We need him bad! They hit 250 as a team in April and May. Pods is a good leadoff guy and everything. But this slump is not because Pods disappeared. Pods is not the reason these guys are swinging at breaking pitches in the dirt. Pods is not the reason they cannot take a pitch or work a count. Pods is not the reason they are popping up.
  20. QUOTE(CYGarland @ Aug 19, 2005 -> 09:15 PM) This is a very sad offense to watch right now, plain and simple. KW HAS to get another bat or 2, or this dream season could end up in disaster. He had months to get a Bat. But he listened to Ozzie and the chemistry line. Well we are beyond the waiver deadline and we got no help. Now he might get shutout because of this. I still keep going back to Soxfest when KW talked about saving money on Fas in the offseason was like putting money in the bank for the stretch run in June/July. It would give us flexibility. Geoff Blumm is not what I had in mind when he said that comment.
  21. Well last year at this time we took a dumper when we got swept by the twinks at home. We lost 7 in a row. I felt like we lost 100 in a row. We are only one off that pace. Last year it was our pitching that failed in that streak. Our hitters without Thomas or Maggs and Borchard in RF still hit 262 as a team. We lose Pods and now our team crumbles. We are pitching still good enough to win. If we had the tampa bay offense or even the KC Royal Offense we would still win a fair share of these games. But not with the CORPSEBALL KIDS. We are lucky to see a few hits, and every pitcher can have at least 6 Ks against us.
  22. I remember everyone making comments about how it doesnt matter that our offense isnt great because our OOBER pitching would shut out the other team, while our offense would beat up on medicore pitching of the playoff teams. Well guess what our offense is so bad that any medicore pitcher can look like Cy Young.
  23. QUOTE(ScottPodRulez22 @ Aug 19, 2005 -> 08:59 PM) Still we have a 9.5 game lead were 29 games over .500 look at the bright side of things. We were up on the twinks by 16.5 last week and 15 on the injuns. So dont sneeze becaues we could be only 5 games up by next week.
  24. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Aug 19, 2005 -> 08:55 PM) I'd much rather face Johnson than Wright. We can't hit right handers. and johnson sucks this year. Any pitcher that goes against us is Cy Young. Johnson Kd 10 Twins about 2 weeks ago. We are free swinging guys who dont take pitches. Guess the K count.
  25. Jon Garland held a nasty offense to a few runs. He did his job. Our offense is really really terrible.
