BTW, I don't think Gload can just be inserted into this team for success. I would only do it if we spend saved money on the pitching staff.
-
I think no one will allow a player to be better than their scouted "potential". If Crede hit .321 for the second half of this season, half this board would be ready to sign him to a multi-year deal.

QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Apr 15, 2005 -> 03:06 PM) Billy Beane Jr's all over the place in this thread... Though even Beane wouldn't take one year, extrapolate it, and call him the next Mark Grace. He's had high 2B totals at every level of play. I don't doubt he could average 35 a year under a full season of play, which is about what Grace did.

QUOTE(quickman @ Apr 15, 2005 -> 02:58 PM) I am flabbergasted how everyone seems to think that Ross gload is an allstar. that is what you are doing comparing him to Grace and Olerud. I just cannot see this happening in anyway. This is another thread to save. Ross gload will never be a starting first baseman and if he is for this team, I will no longer participate in purchasing tickets. Please folks, we need to stop thinking small time. Look at our wins this year, if it was not for the home run we would be in last place, The home run won some games and brought us back into games. last night was a good example. Without Konerko's blast we would have been wiped out.Pitchers pitch different to power hitters. power hitters put fear in pitchers. Gload puts fear in nobody. PS we cannot be the twins. nobody can. Adding a power third baseman and keeping konerko would be the right thing to do, if you want to win. We wouldn't have to rely on the home run to win games if we had a better team average and OBP.

QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Apr 15, 2005 -> 02:53 PM) Will Gload lead the majors in doubles for an entire decade? I just wouldn't bank on Gload becoming Grace, even if they are 'similar.' If you extrapolate last years numbers, Gload would've been right at Grace's average season 2B total.

I was in favor of trading Pauly this offseason and starting Gload at first as long as the money/trade made our pitching staff better. The Twins haven't hit more than 200 home runs in any of the last three years, as low as 155 in '03. If we went to a contact over power offensive team which I'd like to see, we probably should move the fences.

QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Apr 15, 2005 -> 02:43 PM) How the hell does Gload=Grace? Gload won't take as many walks as Grace did but otherwise they could be seen as similar offensive 1B's.

QUOTE(JimH @ Apr 15, 2005 -> 01:42 PM) Cool, ganging up on quick! I don't mean to attack, but I remember finding him extremely clutch, as seen by those splits.

QUOTE(quickman @ Apr 15, 2005 -> 12:56 PM) Last year he played the outfield and sucked, also I found him very unclutch. Don't like him, doesn't really matter why, just like others don't like timo. Gload is not as good as everyone thinks. Gload 2004 Splits. Runners On - .308/.369/.439 Scoring Position - .397/.465/.603 On Second - .421/.476/.737 On Third - .400/.400/.600 Bases Loaded - .615/.571/.692 Men On, 2 Out - .326/.431/.488 Man On Third, Lead Off Inning - .442/.478/.605 Scoring Posn, 2 Out - .360/.484/.600 Close And Late - .333/.395/.410 Which games were you watching?

Pauly should be back to normal now that we're at home too.

QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Apr 14, 2005 -> 09:47 PM) Jesus christ, can't we do better than Gload for a DH? He's a career .300 hitter in both the minors and the majors.

QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Apr 14, 2005 -> 03:46 PM) I'll take us and the under. I parlayed those earlier. I usually only bet against the Sox, because if they lose, I have $ to console me. If they win, I have an easy time dealing with the lost $. -
Looking for places to live and I see this. What is it?

I will love him if he can hit half as well in the majors as he did in the Spring.

QUOTE(YASNY @ Apr 14, 2005 -> 12:34 PM) This was an off day. I'm just saying, there's an expense taken care of for a large portion of the year.

Isn't food provided for the players at the stadium before and after games?

Kind of a take-off on what SS2k5 said, but, if we're near league-bottom in offensive categories and our record is 6-2, I'm excited to see what we can accomplish when we actually start hitting. Our team line is not going to be .242/.265 as this season progresses.

Holy s***, Elarton has those numbers against us in three starts? That is pathetic and needs to be changed. -
How do we send questions to the show?

QUOTE(Leonard Zelig @ Apr 13, 2005 -> 10:23 PM) Anybody who does not know what a "hot carl" is, just do a Google search. If you are easily offended, I would recommend not looking it up. On urbandictionary.com, I got several different results, each of them hilarious in their own way.

19. Chicago Cubs: Aramis Ramirez and Jerry Hairston are already questioning Dusty Baker. Translation: Never doubt Steve Stone. hehe
