  1. I thought this was the 9th, Thx for making it interesting Marte. If there was deal that invloved Marte and B Mac, K Dubs shoulda pulled the trigger.
  2. QUOTE(Steff @ Aug 1, 2005 -> 02:18 PM) I'm sure they realized it a couple weeks ago. Pretty sad considering how well they started. I wonder how long the team knew about Raffy's test. They sure flatenned out these past 2 weeks.
  3. The Os' are done for the year. The news about Raffy and now the sweep, it's over for em.
  4. My HS baseball coach told us you needed natural talent and hard work to get to the bigs.............come to find out, I just had to be funny.
  5. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Aug 1, 2005 -> 11:52 AM) I feel good about it.. It means the policy and testing are working. I was a conspiracy theorist before. (I'm sure there may be some other conspiracies theories floating around now about latin players. I thought it was odd that they couldn't catch a big name.) Sure it hurts the image of the game, but I'll take a few hits at the image if it means the game is clean. Raffy is a Latin player.
  6. QUOTE(Steff @ Aug 1, 2005 -> 11:47 AM) You thought he was credible.. ?? I thought he was the most full of s*** when he did that finger pointing thing.. This is no surprise to me. Personally, I trust no one, but if you remember, the press was loving him for beign the stand up guy of the bunch. WOW. Didn't he nail Sandberg's wife too?.....now juice. This guy's a winner.
  7. Holy Christ, this is the only guy who appeared credible during the hearings. He's one hell of a liar, he never flinched during questioning.
  8. QUOTE(Greg Hibbard @ Aug 1, 2005 -> 10:59 AM) I'm not sure. He just needed to give up enough to fill our greatest needs. We needed another big bat in the lineup, a bullpen arm, and possibly a starting pitcher. Buyer's market, seller's market....doesn't matter....this team is probably going to compile the best regular season and deserved to be stockpiled no matter how many prospects were given up. I would've emptied the f***ing farm for Wagner and Huff. I don't buy the fact that we got "held up" by teams this year. .........and maybe he was willing to do that, but I read this morning that teams were asking for part of our core, every day players. Everyone who said the demands would soften apparently was wrong. I still get a big kick out of teams asking for 2 guys from our rotation in return for 1.......and that 1 would probably have ended up as our #3 starter. That's just hilarious to me.
  9. Sigh, just another example of Cub fans who think they are a bigger story than the game, players who give them way too much attention and the media who loves to feed into it. So now the almighty Cub fan base will dictate who the team signs and doesn't sign?? GMAFB. If a FA didn't want to come to my team because of what some drunk, f***ball is doing in the stands, then I'd consider myself lucky that he turned me down.
  10. QUOTE(Steff @ Aug 1, 2005 -> 09:36 AM) Apparently. Not sure I agree with the forum.. but so be it. LOL, no better audience than a captive one.
  11. QUOTE(Steff @ Aug 1, 2005 -> 10:29 AM) My flight (Southwest) was packed with fans. And there were a lot out after the game Friday and Saturday. Not so many on the return flight home this morning so either they left last night and didn't go to the game or stayed for today's. Baltimore is a cheap ticket, BWI is a breeze to get in and out of, and there are a ton of reasonable hotels by the airport so I think it's very appealing to out of town fans. Great tips, I've never really paid Balt. much attention. I have a friend in DC who says I have a place to crash and that Camden is not too far away. Maybe I'll do that next year, thx.
  12. Did a lot of Sox fans make the trip or are there a lot of Chicagoans living there?
  13. QUOTE(Steff @ Aug 1, 2005 -> 10:15 AM) Non name brand cereal and Mac & Cheese is good also. Bread, Ramen noodles and fruit.
  14. QUOTE(Greg Hibbard @ Aug 1, 2005 -> 10:13 AM) Furious. I don't buy one bit that more couldn't have been done. .....so then why exactly didn't KW do more?
  15. QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Aug 1, 2005 -> 09:48 AM) I also think the "close as a blade" claims made by some companies is also bunk, but I've been a convert to electric shavers for the last 3+ years. They are a lot better than they used to be. I really like the Norelco Advantage shaver I have. It's one of the units that takes the cartridge of Nivea skin lotion so when you press a button it pumps a little lotion to stand your beard up and lubricate the blades as theu cut. Pretty pricey at $80 or so I think, and you have to replace the blades every 6 months or so, but I've had the same one since Christmas 2001. Wow, nice I'm converted. I'll pick something up and just return it if it sux. THX.
  16. QUOTE(YASNY @ Aug 1, 2005 -> 09:33 AM) From a Sox fan's perspective, we can relate to the white flag thing. Oh absolutely.
  17. QUOTE(Steff @ Aug 1, 2005 -> 09:43 AM) I bought Jim a Braun.. he swears the thing is better than a razor. It does leave his face really smooth (I feel no stubble). It's the one with the self cleaning thing on it, and it has a digital battery thing on it. I think it was $179 or something like that at Sears at Christimas time. The did have one that was the exact same but without the digital thing that was closer to $100. He had his previous one for over 10 years so I guess they are worth the $$. Thx, I'll check it out. I think I had a Braun once, but one of the early, primitive ones that didn't shave well and would get really hot. My face had stubble patches and burns all over it...quite sexxay.
  18. So random. Can anyone recommend a good electric shaver? One that's fast, doesn't nick your skin and shaves as close as a blade. I think that's impossible, but I haven't had one in like 20 years. I imagine maybe there are some really good ones out there now.
  19. He had some things he needed to get off his chest, didn't he?
  20. My reaction is that some of these teams that are 5 or 6 games out and supposedly still in it are fooling themselves. Battling with 5 other teams for one WC slot is a tough climb. I think deep down they know it, but are really afraid of the bad PR that would come from a white flag sale. From a Sox fan perspective, it woulda been nice for teams to unload about 4 players to us this year. Overall though, I'm not a fan of the 'rent a ring' approach. You should have to dance with the girl you brought to the party
