try a broker or stubhub, good luck.

Haven't his last few tours been mostly acoustic performances? Will this one be unplugged as well?

QUOTE(Steff @ Aug 3, 2005 -> 01:28 PM) It's a few posts up. YAS posted the quote that he did get one. I hadn't read any and assumed from his comments yesterday that he had just found out and didn't get an appeal option before the suspension was made public. So then you're right, his two test and appeal went faster than Palmeiro's.
-
I'm sure we'll get his details in the days to come.

QUOTE(Queen Prawn @ Aug 3, 2005 -> 12:17 PM) Just found a splinter of wood in my sammich. Scared the hell outta me because I thought I broke another bracker. It still sucks because I made my sammich and I damn well know I didn't put that there. WOOD? wtf, so who did?
-
QUOTE(Steff @ Aug 3, 2005 -> 11:30 AM) No, I'm right, he didn't. As a matter of fact he took the suspension and is doing nothing about it. So he didn't ask for one? That's why he wasn't given one, and why the story broke right away.

Sox agreed to trade for Griffey Jr.

QUOTE(maggsmaggs @ Aug 3, 2005 -> 11:40 AM) KW and the Reds GM agreed to the trade, but b/c it involved money, he had to get permission from ownership, who vetoed it. Makes sense. -

I'm confused by the wording. Who 'agreed' to it? Who vetoed it? -
Most drugs have side effects. Harmful and side effects are 2 different things Milk. Steroids can have side effects, yes. If a guy ignores the symptoms of side effects and continues to use, then of course it becomes harmful. When that happens, is it really the steroid or the user that's the problem??

QUOTE(Steff @ Aug 3, 2005 -> 10:41 AM) No one else has been afforded that courtesy.. not the courtesy of a second test and an appeal.. I'm fine with that. It's not telling the media and celebrating a milestone while KNOWING he had tested dirty that I have issue with. I heard a guy on ESPN yesterday morning say that everyone tested has to prodcue TWO cups of urine. If they test positive, then they test the second sample, just to make sure. That plus the appeal, I can see that taking a while. I see your point and you may be right, all I'm saying is that MLB has enough excuses to cover it's ass and not look bad, IMO. Also, 3000 hits IS a big deal, not celebrating it would have looked suspicious.

QUOTE(ChiSoxyGirl @ Aug 3, 2005 -> 10:30 AM) Okay, so I didn't read this whole thread. BUT, I thought I would share this story with you all. My undergrad advisor was a former swimmer (competed with U of MN, and almost went to the Olympics ), and did a lot of competitive swimming in her native country (Germany). She said that a lot of the East German Women who used to swim were given steroids and ended up having to get sex changes because it effed 'em up so bad. So, I'd take her words for it. I believe it, if a woman takes enough, she becomes a man. That's an example of abuse. The people giving them the juice either didn't know enough about them or flat out didn't care. Eastern European athletes really went nuts with the juice in the 60's and 70's, even Ah-nold juiced. Those athletes were guinea pigs, most of their problems resulted from ignorance.

QUOTE(Steff @ Aug 3, 2005 -> 10:25 AM) Well.. they knew his test was positive at the very least 7 weeks ago it sounds like. Making a big deal of his 3000th hit makes them look like idots to me. Wasn't there an appeal process and a test of the 2nd urine sample? Might that have taken 7 weeks?
-
Does MLB look bad? Sounds like they can say that the testing works and that they aren't protecting anyone......unless of course we find out for sure that all the higher ups knew all along. THAT would be the biggest scandal in sports ever.

Do the Sox need to look over their shoulders

QUOTE(jphat007 @ Aug 3, 2005 -> 09:08 AM) I'm a big proponent of not looking ahead and worrying about your division, but I almost have to act like we've got the division sewn up. To think otherwise is utterly depressing. It is pretty much impossible to lose the division at this point. If we lost the division now it would be one of the biggest chokes in baseball, if not sports, history. Only 2 teams had lost 9 game leads after the all star break before. We had a 15 game lead yesterday. It would be the biggest choke ever to lose the division now. It really is unprecedented I believe. Crazier things haven't happened as far as this is concerned. You're right, but it would depend on HOW we lost. If we have 4 key guys go down to injury, well that's not a choke IMO. Last year Frank and Maggs went down, game over. If the whole team stays healthy and flat out just sucks for 2 months, then yes, huge choke job. We're in. -

QUOTE(soxhawks @ Aug 3, 2005 -> 09:10 AM) its too bad we dont get to play the nl west though I'd like to see us against the NL East, that'd be fun. -
I think if you are buying roids from a guy in alley behind your gym, and you're letting the guys at the gym tell you how to use them, you're taking a huge risk and will probably suffer serious side effects. If a Dr. is giving them to you (illegally, of course) and you follow what he says to the tee, you'll probably be OK. The problem is that most guys are ABUSING them. Especially, young, desperate athletes and bodybuilders. If you tell a guy to shoot 5 cc's of Decca and he sees results, you better believe he's gonna shoot 10 cc's next time. Once that same athlete goes off of their cycle and they see themselves losing size or strength, even in small amounts, do you think he's ever gonna go off roids again? It's all about bigger, stronger, faster NOW.

Read today that Canseco will be putting out another book, a part 2. He plans to name coaches, managers, and 'higher ups' in MLB. This is gonna get interesting.

Thx for the tip, I like Bale, might have to check that out. Saw "Must have Dogs" with the wife last night. Eh, typical chick flick, romantic comedy.

QUOTE(ChWRoCk2 @ Aug 2, 2005 -> 11:36 PM) f*** oakland, why the hell are we thinking about them, cleveland has been doing pretty damn good lately if i dont say so myself, IMO the twins are out and the injuries have hurt them even my friend who is a twins fan admitted that they are done. Everyone is forgetting that the indians have been doin pretty damn good lately and are able to catch up to us now that their team is starting to hit a little better Cleveland will not catch us, but it'd be nice if they caught Oak. and won the W.C. and Ana. won the west. -

I worry about the meeting either the A's or the Angels in the playoffs...big time. There is almost no doubt it will be one of them in the 1st round. I'd rather see the A's win the west so that we face the Angels in round 1. Believe it or not, I don't fear the Yanks or Bo-Sox at all. If we get past the west in that 1st round, we have a real good chance of getting to the WS. -
QUOTE(kapkomet @ Aug 2, 2005 -> 05:33 PM) Incredible if there are no fatalities... in fact, I say a miracle. I know, amazing, that thing was a ball of flames.
