"All this lady knew was she was unconscious and I'm shoving frosting in her mouth," Ed Murphy said. Awww, what a tactful hubby.

The chick who's standing with 'Kenny" looks like s***. Maybe if she hadn't been up for 3 days doing rails, she wouldn't have those nasty, party monster, dark circles under her eyes.

We needed a bat or two, it didn't happen, we're stuck with what we have, cross your fingers and ride it out. Besides who needs offense when you have chemistry?

I think the '04 Cards were pretty frickin hot all of last year...and still haven't cooled off really. So, teams can stay hot for a while. We get no love because we don't play a sexy style of baseball. If our offense averaged 2 more runs per game and we had 3 guys hitting over. 300, everyone would be on our jock. As Paulie said the other day, it was typical game for us, great pitching, great defense and no offense. That plan doesn't convince anyone.

Scattering other people's dirty laundry makes people feel better about themselves and whatever they might have in their own closets. Our society if obsessed with scandal and 'outing' people. -
I remember listening to him a few months ago and he had almost no voice left. It was really sad to see, since a voice is such an important part of their profession. RIP.

QUOTE(Steff @ Aug 8, 2005 -> 08:24 AM) Not a movie.. but I watched Chris Rock on HBO last night (taped show from DC from last year I think)... good God that man is hysterical. Some comics make you laugh and some make social commentary, Rock does both.

Yeah, if you need at least 2 females, that list is very short. Immediately, I think F. Mac and Heart, but there has to be someone better. Good question.

QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Aug 7, 2005 -> 10:43 AM) well, considering how we're doing against the Blue Jays and Mariners, I'm a tad worried.... I've been so looking forward to this stretch of games all year. This is a playoff preview, hopefully we step it up. If not, there's always chemistry to get us by.

QUOTE(Texsox @ Aug 6, 2005 -> 10:54 PM) As much as I loved Joan Jett and the Blackhearts, I'm going to go crazy on you and say Heart as the best female dou or group. My criteria is that the rest of the band could be interchangeable, tossed aside like yesterday's newspaper. Making a group like Fleetwood Mac inelligble. Mick Fleetwood and Lindsey Buckingham are too important to the sound. Solo artists need not apply. So, there have to be at least 2 females as permanent members of the band, right?

Steroids in other sports
LosMediasBlancas replied to LosMediasBlancas's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
QUOTE(3 BeWareTheNewSox 5 @ Aug 5, 2005 -> 11:56 PM) I'd say there's a misperception of steroids in baseball that doesn't get followed in basketball, but it's completely wrong to think that there's no use in the NBA for that. Steroids won't help you put the bat on the ball/or give you the knowledge of where to place a pitch (it does help if you already can put the bat on the ball, but we don't even know how much) any better than an NBA player would be helped by putting the ball in the hoop, but I think it can be extremely helpful for a basketball player. I'm no doctor, but steroids give you energy, more stamina to workout longer, helping you to build muscle, making you faster and stronger, giving you an edge over anyone who does it clean or with just supplements. This is where it comes in in sports, helping athletes with stamina, which is big in the NBA, where players have to stay standing and keep running for 48 minutes. I'd say it's also extremely helpful for the big men, who need to get position, which is obviously helped if you work out more and get bigger. I don't think there's NBA players that look 'inflated' like Canseco persay, but I've learned that doesn't always show, like with Raffy, and you can take things to take that effect off that makes it obvious. So I'd say they give an advantage in every sport, the most obvious being for football, mainly for linemen, but for everyone when you think about it. The NBA had a very weak policy. Congress tore them apart on it, I think only rookies were tested, and the whole process and punishments were very weak, and they promised to strengthen it in the new CBA. Stern's argument was that steroids weren't used or needed in basketball, but for the reasons I just stated, I call BS. Basketball has become an very physical game. If a guy can't bang in the paint, he's probably not gonna do well in the NBA. There are exceptions of course, but look at NBA guys from the mid 80's and compare them to today's ballplayers. Plus they have a taller frame to fill out, all while doing a lot of running and cardio. Some guys fill out in one off season. -

QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Aug 6, 2005 -> 09:36 AM) I've heard the Garland thing, too. A girl friend of mine, who is also a big stoner, hung around with him a few times. She could be lying, of course. And I've also heard that he's cleaned it up since getting a girlfriend or something like that. I've heard the same thing about Jon and then recently I saw him wearing one of those huge T-shirts that just have someone's face on the front. His had Bob Marley on it. That's not proof, but I'm just sayin'. -
QUOTE(SpringfieldFan @ Aug 1, 2005 -> 05:12 PM) You know, we can take it to this level if you want, but you are going to have to hear about the time when my wallet fell out of my pants at work...into the toilet...while I was sitting during a dump...and yes, I was just about finished when it happened :puke absolutely true SFF Ok I'll bite, how did that happen? Your wallet was probably in the back pocket of your pants, which are around your ankles near the floor. You were sitting on the toilet, so it's probably air tight, with no room for anything to fall into it. Please explain.
