  1. QUOTE (sin city sox fan @ Apr 25, 2009 -> 09:30 PM) If batting over .400 ain't worthy of all star consideration, than I'm not sure what is. 9 for 22 is about 9 more hits than I would get in 22 at bats (not that I'm an all star....I'm just saying he's that much better than me.) Before he gets named to the American League team though, we should sign him to a 10 year contract for $60 million or so to avoid any costly arbitration setbacks in the coming years. BA deserves our support and tis time to show him that he has it! And you're basing this on a whole 22 at bats. Sign the guy till he's 37 . I'm glad he's starting now but if he ever makes $6 mill a year for 1 year I'd be surprised .
  2. Why would a K count against someone ? Does hitting into a double play count against them. Does making any out count against them? Am I missing the rules somewhere ? Why not just have positive stats count? Maybe points for total bases , rbi, and runs. I know it's a little late to change anything. Consider it for next year or after the all-star break.
  3. damn pick to click is locked
  4. Q on a pace for 95 dingers and actually won a series on turf and in a dome .
  5. QUOTE (knightni @ Apr 19, 2009 -> 01:31 PM) TCQ! Thome! Floyd! Overall beatdown! Don't forget AJ who got the ball rolling !
  6. Hawks WIN 3-2 ! 2-0 lead in the series.
  7. After a sloppy start and trailing 2-0 the Blackhawks come storming back in the 2nd period to take a 3-2 lead. Toews with 2 goals , one in the last half minute for the lead. Sharp has the other goal. Go get em in the 3rd !
  8. He should go back to being Alexei not A less say.
  9. Na na na na , na na na na, hey hey hey goodbye Kazmir .
  10. Dye walk .Paulie HR 6-0 .
  11. If Josh wants to be a decent caring individual ( for a price) then by all means Josh offer Pods the number. If Pods wants to be a decent caring individual he will say" No thanks Josh I'm just happy I still have any number on my back."
  12. QUOTE (SouthsideDon48 @ Apr 14, 2009 -> 09:29 AM) I'm not saying the board is racist, nowhere did I say in my post the word "racist". For better clarification, I think a better term would be "inherently biased". That's it, just biased behavior. Being biased and racist are two totally different things. I don't think it's a bad thing to be "inherently biased" and if that means race plays some part in it then we shouldn't apologize for it because it's not racism its more culturalism. Most whites , hang with whites, blacks with blacks, , different Native American tribes warred with each other. There's truth in the old saying "Birds of a feather flock together" . Mostly blacks went to Negro league games. Japanese fans come to the ballparks to watch Ichiro. Everyone roots more for their own kind. The real truth is , as sports fans we root against guys who suck and cheer for those who play well. I can honestly say Dye's way more popular than Brian Anderson is only because he's a better player. Wise has offensive and defensive flaws ,career minor leaguer, wasn't with the Sox for as many years as Brian . Anderson is younger ,maybe still has upside offensively, a talented defensive player, was on the World Series winning team and always seems to have a big grin on his face. We as fans just "know" him better and ALSO see him as a better player who can be a solution to a problem. We see Wise as only a stopgap. I applaud your courage to state your opinion because I'm sure you knew damn well people on the board would be very reactionary. I for one think there's a grain of truth to what you said , but more of it is based on knowing Anderson better, performance and perceived upside.
  13. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Apr 13, 2009 -> 02:08 PM) And yet it only took what? 50 years for it to happen the first time? I'd like to see if the stats geeks can come up with any 2 players who have hit back to back home run with the same number of career HR's over 100 be it 101 , 237 or w/e.
  14. QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Apr 14, 2009 -> 11:58 AM) I can't jump on the Podsednik bandwagon. The CF/Lead off spot continues to become more embarrassing. Amen, brother, Amen. BA pleaseeeeeeeeeeee do good ! Keep ur butt in the lineup this is possibly your last real shot at it with the Sox .
  15. Behold the same topic with a thread third from the bottom on this very page.
  16. Welcome back to batting leadoff 75% of the time and playing CF on a supposedly top tier AL team from no ML team wanting you. Somewhere I hear Ethel Merman singing "Everything's Coming Up Roses. "
  17. A very rare feat indeed. Glad to have witnessed it on TV.
  18. All right Soxtalkers bring me a victory. Back to work, won't know the final score till around 4:01 PST . Take care !
  19. Will OZzie dare do the double steal ? Nah Miner with control problems.
  20. Nice hit Brent, though I'm still perplexed why he doesn't choke up with all his K's. His bat looks as long as he is.
  21. Josh Anderson is the guy I was clamoring for KW to get.
