  2. QUOTE (greg775 @ Oct 1, 2008 -> 12:23 AM) I know I will probalby be mad if we tank but I think anybody who truly gets upset at the team or Oz or KW for anything that happens from this point forward is simply an idiot. This is all gravy, folks. Tampa has a better team than we do. We're the underdog. Yes I badly want to win, and I'm sure I will be pissed at certain players if they stink in this round and hopefully the ALCS, but this team already has proven a lot to me for winning those 3 elimination games and getting in. Do you agree with me you'd have to be a real mope being really mad at the Sox for anything that happens the rest of the way this season? Thanx Sox and play with the house's money. Relax and kick ass. You got nothing to lose. I'd hate to think about if we lost 1-0. Lack of heart and guts is often tied to no offense. We blame it all on the hitters and refuse to give the other team credit. Right now it's easy to say we have guts because we won. If we had lost does 1 game really make a difference when talking about how hard a team tries but ends up falling short ?
  3. Uptown's got its hustlers Bowery's got its bums 35th street got a Big Jim Thome He's a home run hittin' son of a gun. Apologies to Jim Croce.
  4. QUOTE (Sox It To Em @ Sep 30, 2008 -> 08:25 PM) The experts at BBTN just unanimously picked the Rays in this series. They couldn't pick a winner with just 2 teams going tonight . Well Kruk picked us that's about it.
  5. QUOTE (iamshack @ Sep 30, 2008 -> 09:10 PM) Who will we see in Game 3? Garza or Sonnanstine? Most likely Sonnanstine doesn't make the playoff rotation so probably Garza. Interesting contrast of pitchers in Game 1 Shields vs. Vazquez. They call Shields "Big Game" James and we all know what they say about Javy in big games.
  6. QUOTE (Whitewashed in '05 @ Sep 30, 2008 -> 09:27 PM) There was no hostility in my teasing and I didn't throw anything at them. Just a simple "bye bye go home!!!" I've been a visitor at other parks a few times myself so I know how it feels. When I read this thread I was mad cause I could relate to his story although it was no where near as bad. It could have been though. Dodger fans were real pricks. I know about Dodgers fans too. A few years ago I got my 2 kids and my Dad who came for a visit and we all went to a Dodgers/Sox game at Dodger Stadium. 3 generations of my family. I spent big on good seats and some a-holes behind us are throwing peanuts at us. I mean I'm with my kids and my dad and he was probably about 70 at the time. Every time I turn around everyone acts all innocent but I had a pretty good idea who it was. Cowards doing that to a family and all we did was root for our team nothing outlandish. Can't make a scene because you got a family to protect and your head tells you that you're seriously outnumbered.
  7. QUOTE (MexSoxFan#1 @ Sep 30, 2008 -> 07:57 PM) hey calisoxfan, where in Cali are you? My signature must be blacked out . I'm in Altadena just north of Pasadena
  8. Listen to Bud Light's Real Men of Genius "Mr. Pro Sports Heckler Guy" #75 http://thefuntimesguide.com/2004/10/bud_light_real.php I didn't realize there are so many !
  9. You are all real men of genius !
  10. QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 30, 2008 -> 08:07 PM) Sorry for freaking out as we lost one, two, three, four and five in a row and not believing. Those who never once did not b**** at our lack of balls, heart, fire, whatever ... take a bow.
  11. QUOTE (joesaiditstrue @ Sep 30, 2008 -> 02:21 PM) Does thome add anything to this lineup, at least tonight? Yes
  12. QUOTE (Reddy @ Sep 30, 2008 -> 07:29 PM) they played it once during the celebrating for a few seconds. Livin' on a Prayer (like i said... ahem) was blasted for a long while during the 7th don't know what song was played during the initial celebration... i was yelling too much. I still Like Back in Black as in the Black(good guys) are back in the playoffs. Plus the lyrics are pretty good for a winner.
  13. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 30, 2008 -> 07:50 PM) Well, that was the greatest game I've ever attended. My knees are sore from standing 90 pct of the time. The bottom of the 8th seemed to last forever. Ozzie managed a fantastic game. I wonder if he'll bench Griffey vs Kazmir. You were missed in the game thread. Good job at the game.
  14. I really loved watching Comcast since the game ended. Just saw Alexei dump a bucket of water on BA . (Gatorade shower)
  15. Would love Q back and Wise out of left.
  16. I have no doubt that Javy will step up and pitch decently in Game 1.
  17. QUOTE (Flash Tizzle @ Sep 30, 2008 -> 06:47 PM) I had it wrong all along. After the Twins series I thought we were the chokers, when really, they existed the series with .5 a game lead against us and were facing the Royals. It almost feels more fulfilling with this division championship because of what we went through, and the fact it was played at home and many fans will have good memories of tonight. I don't go into chat very often but Fathom invited people after the Twinkies swept us. I remember saying every time the Twins got a hold of 1st place they gave it right back . I think you were there .
  18. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Sep 30, 2008 -> 06:42 PM) I just got home. That stadium was so intense. It was awesome. GO SOX!!!!!! Great job !
  19. QUOTE (bmags @ Sep 30, 2008 -> 06:40 PM) You know, I hate to put a damper on this, but there were two aspects to the last two weeks: dealing with some awesome sox fans who kept my hopes up and weren't actively rooting against them and two Dealing with the most ridiculous sox fans in games threads that just talked the s word about the sox the entire damn time. And I have to say it is probably sweeter for the former. I know some people deal with some things differently but my God, it was awful. It is pretty bad and it used to keep me out of game threads , but I learned to adjust. I know they all care very very much and most are very young and haven't learned when to ease up. It's just crimes of passion but they are very passionate Sox fans for sure and for that I love them man !
  20. QUOTE (kane0730 @ Sep 30, 2008 -> 06:36 PM) No matter what happens for the rest of the games this year, I'm just so happy! I've written this team off soooo many times, and for them to come back is just awesome. Good luck in Tampa!!!! I hope you learned your lesson young man. It's not over till it's over !
  21. QUOTE (bmags @ Sep 30, 2008 -> 06:25 PM) and no one has thanked THE FANS yet?!? That was the most thorough blackout I've seen in my life. At the bar me and my 2 other friends were going f***ing nuts. Bra-f'n-o. OF all the people, Jim thome to hit the GW home run, JOHN DANKS to go into the 8th, and BRIAN ANDERSOn to win the game along with JR. GRIFFEY to play like the little big league f***in champ he is. MB talked about how being at home for a celebration was great.
  22. KC is now my 2nd favorite Al Central team.
